"The door was talking but we couldn't understand it." blurts out Draxim.

The Door
"A most amazing thing that door. It has the most intricate and complex lock I have ever seen. It also was slightly enchanted though I could not determine the exact nature of the magic. It also seemed to come 'alive' when Draxim touched it. Our combined efforts may yet overcome this lock. I know we must wait for Sangraal, but I am most impatient."

Meneloss sits down next to the emtied contents of his pack as he carefully repacks his backpack. When he is through he replaces his armor.

Re: The Door
"Hmm.. It sounds like this lock is guarding something very important to the giant. I don't know if now is the time to deal with it, but we should not leave the mountain until after we have tried to gain access to what is behind that door," says Ruglan.

Re: The Door
A fascinated gleam enters Madragar's visage as he hears the excited tales of Meneloss and Draxim. He squelches it with an effort.

"Indeed," he says, echoing Ruglan. "Indeed."

Door
Sangraal opens an eye when the duo return and listens intently to Draxim and Meneloss's account of the talking door. Seeing that the two have returned unharmed, Sangraal resumes his rest.

Re: The Door aka Madragar this post is for you
Meneloss cannot contain himself either and at the slightest hint of Madragar's interest he moves closer to the bald tatooed son of a fisherman.

"Madragar..." Meneloss begins "You have visited Koreaus in better times. Did you ever encounter anything like this door? It was immense fifty feet high and a full thirty feet across. Upon it were carved all manner of bas-relief Draxim supposed it was the tale of the light-bringers. the lock itself was three concentric circles of polished steel and brass. Each ring had a depression upon it."

" I correctly surmised the depressions were for manipulating the rings. Draxim said they moved easily and made a distinct click as they turned."

"What was most unusual however was the other sound the door made. When Draxim first touched it, the door itself made a sound like a sigh. The kind of sound Vala might make if I woke her in the night for a kiss."

Meneloss waits a moment to stifle his mischevious grin.

"Then when Draxim turned the outer ring 2 clicks (about 5 degrees) the door made sounds which seemed like a tongue I have never heard before. At this point Draxiom wisely decided to return to our present position. My curiousity is still nagging."

"I made an attempt to detect enchantment upn the lock, which revealed that a minor Evocation had been ensorcled upon the lock. I am not sure but it seemed to be of the illumination style of cantrip. I was not able to find a trigger for the spell."

"It is extremely important I believe to examine this door further. My fear is after another encounter with hostile forces we may not be in the position to explore the door. That is why I advocate examining thouroughly this door when the party is at full strength rather than pursuing the Broo."

Re: Hey Dork aka Madragar this post is for you
"Meneloss and Sangraal bring up a good points. We know the Broo are looking for something and they may not have found it yet based on the fact the Broo are still here. But that mercenary dwarf was surely looking for the way to open the secret door when we suprised them. Opening this door before they do sounds like a good plan initially.....but another thing, the Broo may not be looking for something as much as trying to FREE something. Does anyone know anything about what Koreus may have been guarding under the mountain and why Chaos would want it?"

Eureka!
"Chillserpent's breath! That's it!" Draxim pounds his fist into his hand and stands up suddenly excited. "Meneloss! We need to get Ruig or Sangraal over there. The bas-relief was the Light bringers maybe right? How many of the Gods were Light Bringers?" He holds up three fingers and ticks them off. "Orlanth, Urox, and Humakt. How many rings were there?" He puts three fingers back into the air triumphantly. " Three Yes? That spell was something to do with light yes? The light which comes from Yelm Yes? The Light Bringers released Yelm from his imprisonment Yes? Yes? Point the circles at the Light Bringers and Yes?" Draxim jumps up and down in excitement at each 'Yes'. Not a high jump mind you, but the best he can do.

Re: Eureka!
"Aye!" Exclaims Meneloss. His voice cracks in mid syllable making a strange shreiking sound. "Ah-hem." Meneloss clears his throat. "You are a wise dwarf indeed Draxim. At the very least I believe you have discovered the symbology. With these clues we may be able to discern more."

Meneloss despite his obvious exitement at Draxim's theory tyries to put on a stern face. "With every passing moment I am more convinced that this door must be our next pursuit."

"To Answer Atan, from what I remember the Ghurugil told us that Koreaus built his fortress on top of an ancient temple of Chaos. Is that not correct Ruig?"

Re: Eureka!
Frowning, Ruig nods.

"I'm glad you remember the wise words of the Ghurugil. It was Boahur who told us of what lies beneath this, the fortress of Koraeus. I believe his words were 'a vast and potent shrine to Chaos.'"

Re: Eureka!
Draxims mention of the Lightbringers and Yelm brings Sangraal out of his rest and he almost raises himself to his elbows but then decides better of it.

"Do you think the basrelief has anything in common with the work the giant has done on the wall? Any corralation between it and the door" Sangraal points in the direction of the carvings done on the walls by Koreaus.

" The door was enchanted by light, or Yelm.... the one handle made sounds like breath, air or Orlanth?" Sangraal muses outloud.

Re: Eureka!
Kezib, listening thinks for a second, then turns his head and looks down to where the only barrior from the broo is.
"Is it really wise, at this time, to be opening a potential shrine to Chaos, when we have chaos minions wanting to swallow our inards?"

Which is it?
"Ho Kezib!" laughs Meneloss. "The 'temple of chaos' is deeper in the mountain, in the depths of the mountain. Is it not?"

Re: Which is it?
"Which would appear to be where we are," says Madragar.

"Surely, we must now ascertain if this is the actual entrance to the temple. If it is so, then we would be colossal fools to open it. Nay, more. Damnable lunatics, cursed by the world. Better we should bury it and ourselves with it"

"But if it is not, then I would hope to investigate. I do hope that Ruig and Sangraal might ferret out further meaning upon examining the figures engrave upon the door."

Re: Which is it?
Sangraal nods to Draxim, "sorry I am speaking in half sentences. Meneloss said there was an enchantment upon the door, an enchantment that Meneloss believes is a minor cantrip of illumination. Light is commonly associated with Yelm." He pauses in his explanation of his thought process to draw a heavy breath.

"Each of the gods is a piece of Yelm, the embodiment of a concept, Urox is war, Orlanth, wind. You get the idea." Again he stops to wet his tongue.

" Well, if we abstractly apply the concept to the door, then the door is covered in illumination, which stands for Yelm. The 3 depressions are the Lightbringers. You turned one depressions and it made the sound of a breath, abstactly wind, so I said that maybe that stands for Orlanth. The other 2 depressions could therefore be abstactly thought of as Humakt and Urox."

"Now this is just conjecture. I have nothing to support this other then Meneloss and Draxims description."

Potent Shrine of Chaos?!
Happy that he asked the right question and glad to hear that people have answers, Atan is aghast to hear the phrase, a potent shrine to chaos. "If the door is what seals the temple it would be folly to open. Our names would assuredly be cursed by all. But before we make rash decisions let's investigate closer and see if we can ascertain the true purpose of the locked door."

Study Hall
Meneloss nods in agreement with Atan and Madragar. "It is important to discern the purpose of yon door. If it is the shrine, then we may be heartened to know it has not yet been discovered by the Broo."

"Determining the exact nature of the door is of utmost importance and needs must be our next move. Our religious scholars will have important knowledge which will aid our investigation."

The elf then sets about whiling away the hours in the deep dark belly of Old Kerlew. To pass the time he talks to Madragar about spells and magic theory. He is particularly keen on learning the charm of protection that Madagar employs. He offers any of his spells in trade

[Deciphering spell: automatically successful with Madragar's help/ Learning Spell: DC 16 Spellcraft +7 I know it cannot be copied but If I learn it I may then prepare it from Madragar's book.]

Re: Study Hall
Draxim tries to describe better what he saw on the door to Ruig, Sangraal, and Madragar, in an effort to see if there is any recognition amongst them concerning the figures engraved there. He tries to give as many details as he can.

[GM - since I didn't ask for this kind of detail before you will have to help us here.]
