Re: Is it? isn't? it is? isn't it? is it? isn't it! is it!..
Meneloss calls back across the cavern:
"Only by the breath of those around me am I still here? If I had to depend upon the 'breath of those around me' I'd perish of old age listening to the prattle of worryworts and naysayers. You think much of yourself Atan if it is by your breath that I am still alive.
Now then, If this door is accursed by the evidence of your stomach what are you still doing there? Let's do something for Yelm's sake! Another day of endless debate and inane droning will kill me faster than a Broo's spear. I envy Yimris: he does not have to listen to this any more."

Zing
Atan crosses back over the chasm with the help of his friends. He continues to help until everyone is across and safe. Arranging his gear back in order he walks past the irate mage, "Stop pouting Meneloss. If you listen to the rest of us we will make sure you reach an old age."
"So which way should start? Up or down?"

Unbelievable.
Madragar ignores the capricious elves. He will not run willy-nilly, and having crossed the chasm, is determined to spend the time to think about what the doors may hold.
Turning to those remaining on side of the chasm near to the door (Sangraal, Kezib, Draxim and Ruig, I think), he says. "I sense no Chaos here. Shall we open the door by the method Sangraal prescribes? I believe we should."
"As I think about it, Koreaus is said to have buried the shrine of Chaos beneath an enormous pile of rubble. I see no rubble here. Let us open this portal, I say."

Re: Unbelievable.
"Aren't you going to stop them? In your gut you know the door leads to trouble." Taunts Meneloss.

Re: Unbelievable.
Ruig shakes his head at the elves who have decided to bring their argument all the way across the chasm to annoy him with it in person.
"Meneloss, you are a child," he says, before obliterating Ruglan's egg with his anvil.

Re: Unbelievable.
Atan shrugs and smiles, "My council is only good for those who wish to heed it. You did not wait for the others to voice there oppinions before you crossed over here. If the majority say open it, then that is what will most likely happen......though I pray not."

"And you ..." Meneloss stops himself before realizing that antagonizing a dour old Dwarf will most likely end badly.

Parley
"We are out of the vote now Meneloss. You cancel my vote. It will be up to Sangraal, Madragar and Draxim. Since I know how Sangraal and Mad will vote. That leaves it up to Draxim."
Atan walks over to the mouth of the tunnel heading off towards the secret door and Yimris. He stops just outside the gloom and listens.

Re: Parley
Sangraal listens to Meneloss's diatribe then proceeds to work with Madragar and Draxim ( if he wants to) on deciphering clues on the door.
" I think we can agree that the door is importent, but lets not hastly turn knobs until we have a better idea of what we are looking at, and if we exhust all the safe routes then sometimes a little luck is needed, though I hope it does not come down to that."
Sangraal dons his armor and gear.

Re: Parley
It would appear to me that you have exhausted the available clues, absent someone who can translate that strange tongue we heard. Thus, we must decide."

Its the Door... he hates the door..
Sangraal disagrees
" Mad, look here. The three depressions are the clue to the lightbringers. The left side of the door is dominated by iconolgy depicting the lightbringers. So if the door way only ment to let pass those of the light, then the solution could be in the door itself. If we can figure out to who each depression represents, then we could turn the depression to point at the coresponding relief on the left side of the door. I don't know but we might have to turn each depression in a specific order, say the order of birth or importence.
So lets attack this door with a plan.
1. Inspect the whole door for more clues.
2. touch each depression, one at a time.
3. ( If we are still alive and we have deciphered the riddle) turn the depressions to face the corresponding dieties.
4. Step back and see what happens.
I believe this is a solid course of action. Draxim we could use your experteise but I would not ask you to do anything that I am not prepared to do, so if you wish I will perform the actions described above, though I recommend everyone step way back."
Sangraal looks to Mad and others for agreement.
" I believe its a reasonable duduction, any other thoughts or suggestions?"

Re: Its the Door... he hates the door..
Meneloss waches the progress across the chasm with interest, though Anvil Apple Egg is amazingly distracting. He moves over to where the brawny pair are whiling away the hour. "I think I get it!" he says. On the next go Meneloss cleverly produces Egg, with a sly grin...

Hello down there
From 20 feet above the cavern floor, Draxim says "Sangraal you'd better let me mess with it. Your climbing skills aren't so dubious as Ruglan's but still..."
"Meneloss while you are over there, can you take your snake out of your arse, and convince Ruig to come over and take a look?"
Draxim has returned all the rings to their original positions. he now shrugs and touches each depression in turn as Sangraal described. Lowest depression (outermost moveable circle) to highest depression (innermost moveable circle)

Draxim: clockwise or counterclockwise?

Re: Hello down there
"Draxim your courage is admerable, If all the depressions pointers are at the six o'clock and the lightbringers are on the leftside of the door, I would turn it clockwise, much like the cycle of time."
Sangraal steps back to a safe distance and says a short prayer to Yelm to protect Draxim. He gets ready to rush back in to assist Draxim if anything goes wrong.

Re: Hello down there
Looking up from his game of Anvil Egg Apple, Meneloss replies to Draxim, cupping his hand around his mouth he calls over,
"I can't convince this old Dwarf to do anything. And if you refer to Angewitta or myself in that manner again, you will regret it. That is no way to talk to a friend."

Hello over there
Atan strolls back over to where Ruglan, Ruig and Meneloss are killing time. "Master Ruig, would you consider going over to the door and taking a look? The door has actually spoken aloud but in a language no one understands. In addition, there is some type of relief of the light bringers which has us puzzled. Before we can decide what to do with the door we need anyone with knowledge to investigate. Meneloss, Ruglan and I will hold your line to cross."

Re: Hello over there
Quote: I would turn it clockwise, much like the cycle of time
Sangraal has never seen a clock.
Draxim touches each of the three hemispherical depressions in turn. Nothing happens.
Ruig scratches his beard. "I'll consider it," he says, and goes back to his game.
