Re: Hello down there
"Ignore him Draxim, please concentrate on the task at hand." Sangraal pleads.
"Meneloss stop throwing around idle threats." Sangraal calls back over the chasm. " No one here is a nay sayer, worry wart, coward, or your enemy. We are all working towards a common goal and as a man of the cloth I ask that your respect everyones different way of approuching advesity."

Re: Hello down there
Atan smirks appreciatively at Ruig's literal interpretation of his request. Standing by for a few throws of the game, he hawks over the dwarven priest of Urox. Audible, "Ohhhh" for a win coupled with "Awwwwww" or "Tsk tsk" for losses.

Re: Hello down there
Draxim gets bored and starts turning the outer circle so that the depression points toward the figure of Orlanth on the door. He listens carefully as he does so, for the telltale clicking. If he hears or sees anything out of the ordinary he will stop.

Re: Hello down there
[Are clicking sounds and a talking door out of the ordinary? I guess not...]
Draxim turns the outermost ring. As he does so the mysterious female chanting again emerges from the door, rattling through its incomprehensible litany. As he continues to move the ring, the words increase in volume slightly. The cold steel ring emits its familiar click with each minute progression around its circumference. As the depression approaches the point on the door where Orlanth stands, resplendent with armor and spear at the head of the Lightbringers, the seam in the lock between the outermost immobile ring and the outermost mobile ring (the 5th and 4th respectively) begins to glow. Draxim stops (out of the ordinary, right?) and the glow slowly diminishes until a moment later it is completely gone.
The depression is a few inches from pointing directly at the figure of Orlanth.

Kezib, while still with the group at the door, will instinctively backup a bit, trying to slink away in the shadows.

Re: Hello down there
"Pride can be a foolish thing. Yet not so foolish as I. Yelm's Light have I been a fool! I should be over there. Instead I am sulking, playing a game, which I suspect is nothing more than a trick: Anvil always wins!"
Meneloss looks at his friends on the South side of the Chasm
"Atan I am sorry. I have said rash and untrue things. Will you please help me cross back over where I belong?"
Meneloss calls to Kezib "Oy Kezib! would you be a friend and haul me across? I promise to be good!"

Draxim turns the dial one more click so that it is oriented properly toward Orlanth.

I'm sorry too
Atan bows to the elven mage in difference, "I guess we both have.....but first there is one who must go over before the door can be opened." He bends down and places his hand on Ruig's shoulder, "Please Master Dwarf, cross to the other side. We need your experience and knowledge of all things hallowed."

Draxim and the singing door
"You should proceed Draxim as we have discussed. Point the outermost mobile ring depression towards Orlanth, the next I figure would be Urox, and lastly Humakt."

Re: Draxim and the singing door
Draxim looks up from his work with a quizzical expression. "Ya know, if a brute like me was able to figure out this door, then it must not be guarding anything as important as a chaos shrine. Right?" he asks hopefully.

Ruig is hard to move
"Yes I agree Atan. Ruig would you please cross with us?" Asks Meneloss.
[If Ruig is not going to cross, then Meneloss will put the harness on, If so, he helps the Urox priest]
Once across (with or without Ruig) Meneloss suggests hauling the ladder across if it will help with the project.

Re: Ruig is hard to move
Ruig is indeed hard to move.
"I won't leave Ruglan to stand here alone. Begone, capricious elfkind, I prefer the company of Ruglan's quiet wisdom to your melodramatic hoobleyhook."
Hoobleyhook? In any event, Ruig seems adamant in his unwillingness to cross the chasm.

The Door
Draxim moves the outermost mobile ring the last few clicks, pointing the depression in the general direction of the figure of Orlanth. There is no "pointer" on the ring, and the bas relief of Orlanth is actually several feet high, but Draxim can feel an appreciable clunk, rather than a click, as the ring reaches a critical point.
This final motion is accompanied again by a soft glow emanating from the seam between the fifth and fourth rings. This time, however, the glow continues to brighten. In just a few seconds a dazzling, circular stream of bright light pours from around the outside of the ring. Draxim is nearly blinded by its intensity, and even Sangraal must shade his eyes from its brilliance.
More than one hundred feet away to the south, the cylinder of shimmering illumination blasts over the heads of Ruglan, Ruig and the elves. It makes a mockery of their pitiful lantern light (I assumed the door group brought torches) and puts an end to their game.
The light continues to shine for ten seconds or so before slowly dimming to nothing. The mysterious female voice stopped as soon as the light began.

"Ruglan won't be alone. I'll stay with him. Your charge, Draxim, is about to open the door and he needs your assistance in deciphering the intricate metal lock and the solid brass relief. Whoooooaa is that some phenomal metal working over there, but what do I know."

Meneloss Hobbleyhook
Once across Meneloss addresses those at the door. "I am indeed sorry for my foolish words and deeds. Please forgive a hobblyhookish elf. I think I may be going mad from the cavern indeed."
Once across and seeing the progress, Meneloss is keen to watch since it would seem the door-crackers have it under control.

Re: Meneloss Hobbleyhook
Draxim will proceed by trying to move the middle ring so that it points toward Urox.
"Can someone send my stuff over?"
[He does have his Battleaxe.]
