Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Watching the Jackal-Broo deflect the arrows of his elven friend the young mage tries to discern the nature of the foul magic.
Meneloss then intones a few arcane words. His eyes roll back as he concentrates on the Illeyen: his Third Eye of Insight Having glimpsed into a possible future, the elf advances on his adversary with his bright blade held high.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
[Meneloss loses 5' of his movement climbing atop the barricade.]
Moving toward the strange, jackal-headed broo Meneloss can detect no obvious enchantment. Yet, the thing's eerie yellow eyes do seem to have some supernatural aura.
Suddenly, the broo's whip lashes out, wrapping itself around Meneloss' legs. With a needle-toothed grin the creature hisses "fool" and pulls the elf off his feet. For a moment the broo seems to consider moving in to finish off the arrogant wizard, but seeing the tide of battle turn against him up at the barricade the broo retreats down the corridor.
[Meneloss is prone so must use his next move action to get up.]
Down in the circular chamber where the broo push furiously at the stone slab, Gulkhu the Dark Eye bellows out another series of earsplitting commands. The massive elk headed creature emerges from behind the stone armed with a thick javelin. Two more broo follow, similarly armed.
In unison, the three broo hurl their barbed missiles at Ruig and Madragar. Each of them are struck, though Ruig gets the worst of it. A javelin plunges into his hip, drawing a curse and not a little blood from the charging dwarf before it is ripped from the wound and discarded. Madragar is only lightly injured, having dodged aside just in time to prevent being impaled by Ghulkhu's missile.
His fortune is short lived, however, as a broo that had so recently fled the barricade comes charging back at him, battleaxe in motion. The attack smashes aside Madragar's sorcerous armor and cuts into his chest. Ribs crack, blood gushes, and the tatooed wizard goes down.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Meneloss shakes his head, momentarily stunned from hitting the stone floor. "My Third Eye did not show me that!" He says aloud in Elven.
He clambers to his feet in time to see Madragar being hacked down. "NO!" he shouts as he rushes forward to aid the stricken mage.
When he hears the commanding voice of Sangraal, Meneloss obeys the cleric and moves to the Yelmite's left.
His stomach twists in a knot as he helplessly watches the broo-tal beast standing above the prone form of the fishmonger, axe in hand.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Changing targets, Atan draws a bead on Madragar's assailant. The broo rips its axe from the moaning human and raises it, intending to finish the job. Atan's arrow is on target and pierces the beast's right thigh, though the broo barely seems to notice.
A moment later, Ruig surges forward and drives his warhammer in a brutal horizontal swing that terminates in the broo's abdomen. The creature doubles over, emitting a loud "OOOF!" Staggering back from the unconscious form of Madragar, the broo slowly regains its balance.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
The battle over Madragar's body continues as the broo (#7) is so badly wounded that it can barely stand. The beast makes a wild swing at Ruig but its axe rings off the stone floor nearly a foot from the stout warrior.
The lithe jackal-headed broo continues its retreat, moving behind one of its companions before launching a sling stone at Ruglan. The missile is dead on and though it ricochet's off the watchman's simple steel helmet, it does rattle Ruglan's brain just a little.
After several seconds of furious pushing, their clawed toes scraping shallow furrows in the hard stone floor, the team of broo get the boulder moving. The slab slides slowly, and crushes each wooden roller as it goes, but is making signifigant progress.
Gulkhu roars in triumph and bellows more black-tongued commands, exhorting his clan onward. The elk-headed beast raises another javelin and lets fly, along with two other broo.
The missiles sail over Ruig and his adversary to crash into Sangraal's battle line as the priest forms up his fellows amid the sloping tunnel. Gulkhu's missile streaks straight for Sangraal and his hated flail. Though the priest tries to strike the javelin aside, his defense is lacking. The barbed weapon strikes him in the chest, but mercifully slides off instead of piercing his armor, though it is a powerful and painful blow.
Meneloss manages to duck under an incoming javelin, and Kezib bats one aside with well practiced precision.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Sangraal charges the weaving, wounded broo, whipping his flail in a wicked downward stroke at the last moment. The broo recoils, more from the gleaming light emanating from the priest's flail than from the attack itself, and Sangraal connects. The flail shatters the beast's collarbone, driving the broo into the ground beside Madragar. The broo (#7) writhes, groans, then passes out.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Kezib lights a flask of oil and gives it a mighty heave. Against the odds, the flaming projectile strikes the corner of the boulder right in front of one of the broo (#11). Fiery liquid splashes over the creature's hands. The broo howls in pain as it tries to extinguish its roasting fur.

This is just like Markland
Meneloss looks about for a Javelin on the floor. Picking up his enemies' missile he trots forward to stand next to Ruig and casts the Javelin at the Broo in front of Jackal-head (#12).
[+3 to hit/+2 damage if this move is not possible, he simply moves next to Ruig and holds action to attack any Broo coming in his threat range]
[Meneloss can pick up the javelin and throw it, pick up the javelin and move, but not all three. -GM]

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Ruig stoops down and picks up the unconscious Madragar. setting him on his feet. Placing his hand on the ragged, bloody wound Ruig intones "Drahral ahruum. Storm Bull, the enemy is upon us! Heal these wounds caused by the shadow spawn."
Madragar, his hands and torso covered in his own blood, suddenly gasps, his eyes fly open wildly staring. He is alive, for the moment.
