Re: Dogboy Vs. Dogface
[Meneloss is prone right?]
Aghast at the turn of events, Atan's hand snaps up to his quiver and pulls an arrow from the rapidly depleting lot. Shifting his sights from dog to elk, he eases his centers point of aim on the massive torso of Ghulku. Recalling an old training phase take your time for the lung, heart or spine.
[Shoot at Ghulku +5/2d6]
[Not digging for bonuses but.....if an adversary can't see me does that hurt their AC?]

[Not unless he's flatfooted.]
The arrow streaks down drom Atan's perch and buries itself in Gulkhu's left arm. The creature doesn't seem to notice.

[I'm not sure Ruglan can move 1 down - it looks like #8 blocks his path.]
-IF- he has a clear shot at #8 and #14 -and- Ruig would be safe because he is prone (?), Madragar will release his Efficacious Pyrotechnic Blade with barely controlled fury.
(Flaming Hands)
If not, the wizard will take another 5' step back and fire his crossbow at #14.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Gasping for air and dazed from the blow, the elf can barely think. Through a haze of blood pouring from a split in his forehead, Meneloss sees the towering horror that is Ghulku the Dark Eye. He twitches reflexively and attempts to scramble back only to have the wall stop him.
In a last defient gesture he holds his sword up with his right hand, the arm throbbing from a nasty gash. With the left he points at the beast's eyes and says :"Here is some light for your Dark-Eye! Ele! Vas!" A streak of light blasts from the wizard's fingertip and ....
[Meneloss moves 5' South and casts Flare at Ghulku. Casting defensively+8. I will push my luck on this roll... If ever there was a time I needed to, this is it.]

Thin Red Line
Sangraal steps up to Elkhead ignoring the lesser swine for a chance to break the pack.
"Break the leader and you break the Broo." a brother of the Dawn once told him on his first trip to Dobrug. Advice that seemed like another lifetime ago. Sangraal swings with rightous fury, powering the flail with all his might.
[OOC: Sangraal takes a 5 foot step to the northeast ( no AOOs) and attacks Elkhead with Heavy Flail +3 to hit 1d10+4 dam, 17-20 crit Foe Hunter Feat, plus Elkhead Charged, plus the Daylight spell, plus uses his Luck+1 . May Yelm smile upon me!
Madragar - broo#14 has a glaive, you cast that spell and he gets an AOO on you. Plus #14 is in base to base with Sangraal, please don't fire into combat. Crossbow wielding spiders are'nt here to soak up the blame.
Kezib- Charge something and do flurry of blows + stun attack.
Ruglan- attack broo #8]

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
[Sorry Hero system rounds up. Old habits...]
With Ruglan moving back, Draxim notices he is alone on the flank against Jackal head and another. Draxim understands his peril and the peril of them all. "Kezib, get up here!" he shouts simply. He then unleashes the same mighty head-severing swing at jackal head in an attempt to properly separate the two kinds of beast as nature intended. He watches those rings, however, ready to evade the darting jabs of this mishapen monstrosity of the underworld.
+5 to hit 1d8+4 damage Keep dodge focus on jackal head.

Re: Thin Red Line
Ruglan moves back and south before the broo onslaught, sealing one hole in the line but opening another. The watchman hacks madly at the broo that downed Ruig, but the creature's axe parries the attack... barely.
Madragar can't find a spot that allows him to conjure a sheet of flame that won't injure his comrades, so retreating a step he tries to fire through a gap in the line. He manages to avoid hitting Sangraal with his crossbow bolt, but the missile causes only a fleshwound on the glaive swinging creature.
Meneloss crawls backward out of reach of the rampaging elkhead and sends a bolt of light into Gulkhu's eyes. The broo snorts and shakes its head, for the moment dazed by the flash.
Sangraal drives forward into the mass of broo, leaving Ruglan alone to hold back the savage tide. He makes a wild swing against Gulkhu, who is trashing about blindly for the moment, and manages to knock two of the broo's antler points off before driving the weapon down into its shoulder. The swing is powerful, and Sangraal had hoped for more of a reaction, but the massive creature barely seems to notice.
Draxim chokes up on his axe and begins to swing it with wild abandon. The first attack strikes the stone wall, raising a shower of sparks, but his return cuts across the jackal's chest and left arm. It is a shallow wound, but blood begins to flow freely, drenching the broo, the ground, and the dwarf's weapon alike.

[maps down so kinda going in blindly, but to keep the game going]
Kezib, remembering the same mantra that his brother in Yelm recited in his head, will charge and attack Gulkhu flurry of blows and stunning blow
[stunning attack will be ineffective against the broo but will use it, what the hell, might get lucky]
[Kezib will have to fight his way through a wall of lesser broo before he can reach Gulkhu. -GM]

Re: Thin Red Line
Kezib rushes forward to take Sangraal's place in the line, and to hopefully work his way toward where his old friend is facing the monsterous Gulkhu alone. The monk is a pillar of concentration as he dances in against the glaive wielding creature before him (#14). The broo is massively distracted by the swirling melee before it, and the shining flail spinning right behind its head. Kezib moves quickly past the butcher's blade and strikes at confused creature. His blows are largely ineffective, however, other than attracting the attention of the broo.

Re: Old Kurlew, Part IV
Draxim is being surrounded. The broo continue to push through the gap in the battle line between the dwarf and Ruglan. The big club swinging beast knocks Draxim back against the wall with a powerful but poorly aimed attack. The swift jackal headed broo has more style than substance in his lightning quick jabs and fails to connect.
Ruglan is similarly hard pressed, but his defense is up to the task. Two battleaxe wielding beasts wail on his shield and sword repeatedly, but can't manage to get through to the armored flesh beneath.
Kezib's adversary is finding it increasingly hard to maneuver its long glaive in the push and shove of the melee and can't make a significant attack against the monk.
Sangraal and Gulkhu continue their deadly dance, the blind monster thrashing about with its antlers. Sangraal parries and dodges the flailing beast, though it seems Gulkhu is recovering from Meneloss' spell.
Another broo down in the chamber (#11), finally having put out the oil fire on its hands, roars in anger, draws a filthy, rusted dagger and charges back into the melee. Given the choice between the gleaming, hateful flail of Sangraal and the bleeding, prone form of Meneloss, it chooses the latter. Pouncing on the weakened elf, the broo plunges its dagger past Meneloss' guard and into his belly. Inches from the wizard's face, the slavering jaws of the broo twist into an evil grin as it twists the blade in his belly. Meneloss loses consciousness.
Combat map.
Wound status:
Madragar is critically wounded.
Meneloss is in the negatives.
Sangraal is seriously wounded.
Kezib is unhurt.
Atan is lightly wounded.
Draxim is moderately wounded.
Ruig is in the negatives.
Ruglan is moderately wounded.

Re: Thin Red Line
Draxim, seeing that Kezib has decided to go to the aid of fallen camrades rather than attempt to hold the line (an understandable decision) and seeing that soon he will be flanked and isolated, steps back and towards the rest of his camrades. He then aims a mighty swing at the club weilder. "Don't worry, you'll get yours," he spits at jackal-head. Despite being more engaged with club weilder, he keeps his defense focused on the jackal head and those bladed rings.

Backpeddling away from the thrashing Elkhead Sangraal spins to strike the glaive wielding broo.

Re: Thin Red Line
Draxim dodges backward and lays his battleaxe into the broo with power and accuracy. The blade chops into the creatures chest, cutting out a chunk of flesh and bone. The wound gushes blood and the broo recoils in pain, but steadies itself and winds up for another swing.
Sangraal spins around and whollops the glaive wielding creature in the back of the head, nearly knocking it over. The beast barks and howls in pain, but doesn't go down.

Thick blood clogged river
Atan feels the tide turning against the party. Virtually trapped on the wall he wishes he could descend to help his friends. Reluctantly he draws another arrow and take his sights on Ghulku.

[For those wondering why, my move is limited to 30 feet maximum and I can't shoot when I climb. I am 60 feet up and it will take me two full rounds of doing nothing but climbing to get down.]

Re: Thin Red Line
Atan, having long practice and good experience firing into such a swirling melee, knocks an arrow and fires nearly straight down on the thrashing Gulkhu. The elf scores yet another hit on the brute, but again the elkhead doesn't seem to notice. Atan is convinced Gulkhu is more than just a larger example of an ordinary broo. This beast is supernaturally tough.

Re: Thin Red Line
[Not true Halle. You move 30'. You are allowed two actions in each round and both of them can be move-equivalent actions, so you can move the 60' in one round. In fact, you can charge, so that you attack in -this- round.]
[Not true Scott. Spider Climb allows for 15' of movement, so the best Atan could do would be 30', and you certainly cannot charge while climbing. -GM]
[Damn! I hate being wrong... Well, he could just jump off, right? Would you count that as a charge? Seriously, he could still run to a point behind the line (1 round) and charge into battle on the second round.]
Madragar is filled with fury that he can neither harm the enemy nor rescue his downed companions. But this fury assumes an outward appearance of deadly calm, as he chooses his shots carefully. He moves 10' north and waits for a clear shot. If #12 should move forward to be in a line with Ruglan and Draxim, Madragar will be in position to flame two broo at once, and will take it.

Re: Thin Red Line
