Re: Thin Red Line
Sangraal's victim doubles over, holding the back of its head, after his merciless clubbing. Kezib leaps in to take advantage of the creature's weakened state. The monk grabs the broo by the ears and pulls its head down while driving his knee up into its face. The broo's jaw breaks into a dozen pieces, scattering bits of teeth and bone up into its brain. The creature drops silently to the ground.
Meneloss' viper suddenly strikes from beneath the bleeding wizard, injecting a teaspoon of raw venom into the broo's arm. The creature yelps, recoiling from the unexpected attack.

Re: Thin Red Line
The broo continue their advance against the steadily retreating Draxim. The nimble jackal headed broo moves in quickly and strikes the dwarf in the ribs as he tries to defend his other flank. As Draxim feared, the broo has some sort of bladed ring that tears into his flesh... not enough to cause any appreciable harm on its own, but more than enough to rub a portion of a stick purple substance into the wound. This attack is enough to distract him from the club-swinging beast that powers through his defenses and knocks Draxim clean off his feet. The dwarf tumbles against the stone wall and slides to the ground, unconscious.
Madragar was poised to deliver a blast of magical fire at the broo, but just couldn't find an opening, until now. The wizard steps forward and spits out a litany of indecipherable arcane consonant-verb combinations.
"Talzara'phal fuoros elal!"
A wide sheet of flame roars out from his fingers in a semi-circular wave. The heat and light of the spell fills the hallway taking everyone (not least of all the broo) by surprise. The jackal and his club swinging companion, standing as they are above Draxim's bleeding form admiring their handywork, take the brunt of the attack. The jackal hisses in anger and pain, but is only moderately hurt. The other broo is engulfed in flame and runs off into the lower chamber ablaze. One of Ruglan's opponents is also affected, and though only slightly the creature was badly injured to begin with. It howls in agony and drops to the floor, burning and unconscious.
Down the line the broo continue their attack. Ruglan's remaining adversary hacks away at his shield (which is steadily getting smaller and smaller) to no avail. A badly wounded broo (#5) recovers from Sangraal's initial hit and wobbles back into combat, avoiding the hissing viper sitting on Meneloss' chest. Its attack is particularly ill-aimed and misses Sangraal entirely.
Gulkhu shakes the last of Meneloss' spell from its eyes and stares down at the Yelm priest and his spinning flail. Still unarmed, and still frothing with rage, the massive beast again lowers its head and drives into Sangraal's chest. The twisted black horns pierce the priest's right armpit and drag across his torso, cutting through his armor, into the soft flesh beneath, and terminating in Sangraal's throat. The priest is knocked backward, spirting blood and unsconscious before he hits the ground.
Meneloss' assailant decides that he doesn't want to get bitten by a viper again, so scuttles off into the chamber to find a weapon. The furry beast quickly comes upon a javelin and grasps the weapon intent to do in the troublesome elf from a distance.

Re: Thin Red Line
Though horribly wounded and out of spells, Madragar sees that Draxim will die in a moment without assistance. With only a moment's hesitation, he drops his crossbow, seizes his staff in both hands and moves to stand over his fallen comrade, parrying furiously and shouting dire imprecations to the broo.
"Back! You shall not take him! Back to the Pit which spawned you, Claw of Chaos! Back to the hells that await you!"

Seeing Sangraal, a friend for all those many years in the monestary, go down in a bloody mass, Kezib charges Gulkhu.

Re: Thin Red Line
Kezib speeds toward the hulking Gulkhu, and in the fraction of a second before he closes the distance, Atan draws and arrow, puts it to his ear and fires. The missile strikes the elkhead right in the chest. Blood pours from the wound, drenching the clothyard shaft. Atan can see the depth of the arrow, can see the gleaming whiteness of a broken bone exposed through Gulkhu's skin. Yet, the beast refuses to even acknowledge the injury and braces itself for Kezib's attack.
The monk races in against Gulkhu and gives it all he's got. His punch is strong, accurate, but futile. Kezib feels like he's hitting a stone wall, and withdraws his aching hand from the broo's unyielding, armored torso.
Madragar advances to stand over the bleeding and unconscious Draxim. The jackal eyes him with raw malice, its sleek grey fur still smoking from the wizard's spell. Grinning evilly, the broo points to Draxim's limp form and hisses "he dies... the venom will take him."

"Possibly," replies Madragar, "but you will precede him, Soulless One. He fought bravely and if Humakt takes him, it will be with love and honor. You, on the other hand, will simply die and fade back into the Darkness that bore you."
"Think of that, as Ruglan Brooslayer or Atan Sharpeyes ends your miserable existence."

Ruglan tries again to end the life of the broo [#8] standing over Ruig's fallen form. "For Urox!" he shouts, as he swings his trusty longsword.

Re: I'm no expert but....this looks bad
To emphasize Madragar's point, Ruglan slides his sword into his opponent's abodomen and out the other side. Withdrawing the gore-soaked weapon he kicks the broo in the chest to keep it from falling on the crimson form of Ruig.
Madragar stands poised to defend himself and Draxim as best he can. Suddenly the jackal headed broo leaps backward, draws a long sliver of steel from the small of its back and launches it at the wizard. Madragar flinches at just the wrong moment, but miraculously parries the missile anyway. The dart hits his staff, punching a hole right through the thick oaken shaft and out the other side just inches from Madragar's face.
Kezib faces off against Gulkhu and one of his packmates. The badly wounded creature to his left makes a wild swing, still punch-drunk from Sangraal's hit. Kezib tries to block it, but only manages to get his forearm cut wide open by the rusted axe. Thankfully the monk had been unwounded up until this point, but knows he could not survive another hit like that one.
An another comes much too soon. The monk is badly off balance after charging in against Gulkhu and can only watch as the monster draws a barbed shortsword from its belt and plunges it into his chest. Kezib drops on top of Sangral like a stone... a bleeding, unconscious, bald stone.
Meneloss' determined adversary (#11) returns with its javelin, walks up to within a few feet of the wizard and his snake, and lets it fly. Miraculously the javelin strikes the stone wall just inches from the elf's head. The broo curses and looks around the floor for something else to throw.
Off in the chamber, the burning broo (#6) learns that running really fast is not the best way to extinguish a flame. Succumbing to its injuries the broo falls down and dies.

"Holy Crap!" blurts out Madragar, sweat pouring down his face at the sight of a dagger imbedded clean through his stout oaken staff. "Holy Fucking Crap!"
He might say much the same thing if he could see the piled bodies of Sangraal and Kezib.
Nonetheless, he steels himself to stand over his fallen companion until dead or relieved.

Re: I'm no expert but....this looks bad
Ruglan charges into the slavering broo, their fur covered in shining blood. Running right past the axe-wielding hyena (that can barely lift its weapon to strike at him as he charges by) the watchman closes with Gulkhu and buries his sword in the creature's side, cutting through flesh and armor alike. For once, Gulkhu howls in pain, and seems to be reaching the end of his endurance. Staggering left, then right, the mighty broo almost topples, but stays up for the moment.

Well this ain't working, thinks Atan, maybe Ruglan needs more room. Shifting his aim to the Gulkhu's companion Atan draws back and let fly.

Re: I'm no expert but....this looks bad
The axe-wielding broo quite unwillingly accepts Atan's arrow right between its feral, murderous eyes. Ruglan is far too busy with Gulkhu to notice how very close the arrow came to burying itself in his neck, so Atan won't have to explain it later. Huzzah...

Re: I'm no expert but....this looks bad
The jackal headed broo cracks its knuckles, sizes up Madragar for a moment, and dives in. The wizard, far from athletic, and even farther from a hand to hand combat expert, madly parries, dodges and barely avoids a flurry of attacks from the bare fisted beast.
Ruglan, now alone with the staggering Gulkhu, rocks back into his standard defensive posture and waits for the creature's attack. The monsterous elkhead steps forward, grabs the edge of Ruglan's shield and simply pulls it aside (20!). The watchman's exposed flank is pierced by Gulkhu's shortsword but Ruglan manages to dodge away from the attack before it can cut into anything vital. Blood streams from both broo and human, each barely conscious, each barely standing.
Unfortunately for Meneloss, his snake just isn't smart enough to go chasing after the determined broo. However, another miracle keeps Meneloss alive. The broo finds a nice big chunk of broken granite, picks it up above its head, and hurls it down on the prone elf. The stone hits the elf's scabbard and bounces harmlessly onto the ground.
