Re: Guide and magic~
Atan looks at the seemingly harmless length of bone, but with Lyssa's and Sangraals warning, "Unless someone has a good reason otherwise, Sangraal can dispose of the bone scroll as he sees fit. Personally, I want nothing to do with dark sorcerery."
"Lyssa, what do you intend to do? Will this band continue to guard the Cullwood and Old Kurlew?"

Re: Guide and magic~
"Today I will lead an expedition north and west around the mountains. There are broo in the Cullwood and no one to oppose them before they reach Osender. I believe there is a Jangui shaman loose somewhere between here and Dobrug as well. Why else would Gulkhu, who has no talent for sorcery, carry such a thing as that?" Lyssa gestures dismissively down at the bone scroll. "I intend to find this shaman and bring his time to an end."

Re: Guide and magic~
"My lady Lyssa, I offer my services as a Brother of the Dawn for this expidition." Sangraal seems very enthusiastic at the notion of hunting down and smiting a broo shaman.

Re: Guide and magic~
Lyssa looks over the eager acolyte, surveying his heavy boots, his spiked gauntlet, his fence-post flail, his battered steel helm surmounted by a horse-hair plume... and smiles.
"Your offer is most generous, brother Sangraal." Lyssa leaves the question of whether or not she has accepted his offer unanswered.

"So is the majority of us agreed to go to Ravensgate? Sangraal, Kezib? Your company is always welcome but if Lyssa can put you to good use, very well."
[OOC - I know Draxim, Madragar, Ruglan and I are going. The two unknowns post what you intend to do. Everyone else post anything you wish to accomplish today. Plan on departing either late in the day or tommorow for Ravensgate.]

Re: Guide and magic~
Lyssa approaches the rigid and proud form of Sangraal and lays a hand on his shoulder.
"Of the quality of your character, Brother Sangraal, I have no doubt. You are as brave a champion of light as I have ever met in this shadow-touched land. Do not consider it an imputation of your faith or valor, but I must respectfully decline. We will be travelling swiftly through the forest, and must at times camoflague ourselves among the trees, and creep silently through the crisp flora of autumn. The monestary is no place to become skilled in the ways of fieldcraft."

Lets get going!
"Understood." Sangraal nods in acceptance of the clear line of logic.
"But if you are ever in need of my assistance....." he lets the question trail off and smiles.
"It looks like I will be accompanying my friends back to Ravensgate."
Sangraal gathers his gear, checking the straps and cords carefully as taught to him by Atan. Once satisfied he sits by the fire to much on some fruit absconded earlier from the main tent.
[OOC: How many days travel? Do we have enough food for the trip back to Ravensgate? If not Sangraal will ask to see if the elves have any extra.]
[It is less than a day back to Raven's Gate. Being morning, the group could be there before dinner, if they chose to leave the Grove right away. -GM]

Loose ends...
At that moment Kyethe comes soaring through the mist at about head level, and scares the bejezzus out of Naredru. Landing on Madragar's shoulder, the big black bird squawks loudly and nods his head.
"Two dwarf come down the mountain. Two dwarf... many questions... stupid questions..."

Re: Loose ends...
Atan ducks as Kyethe buzzes in low and fast, "Whoaa".
Listening to the ravens message, "Are they coming here to meet us or are they going back to the city?"
"If they are coming here we can wait for them. If not we can leave near immediately unless anyone has things they need to do."
[Atan will try to acquire some more arrows if a fletcher or bowyer is available. Other then that he will pack up his gear and suit up.]

Re: Loose ends...
Kyethe leans toward Atan and squawks loudly right in his face.
"WRAWK!! More dumb questions." The bird then flies up to a nearby tree branch and surveys the hairless monkeys below.

Birds...
"That settles it then. Let us head back to Ravensgate as the crow flies." Sangraal retrieves his pack. Perfering to attach his helmet to the top of the pack, he wears his winter cap for the trip down the mountain. Hefting his fencepost onto his shoulder he waits for everyone to get ready.

Re: Birds...
Atan flinches at the vocal assualt.
"What a wonderful animal. It's condescending tone though seems oddly familiar.", he says rubbing his chin in thought.
[If there is no arrows ot be found Atan packs up his backpack and bedroll for the journey back. Before they depart he tells Draxim to hold on to the jewlery for the trip and he can sell it once in town for the party.]

Re: Birds...
Upon finishing his breathing excersises, Kezib stands and moves back to the group, dodging the fast and low flying crow. Turning to Lyssa he nods his head, as to say, "I got your message".
"Friends, I will travel with you and aid in what I can do with returning Ruig."
Kezib then turns to Lyssa and says, "May I have a moment with you?"

Re: Birds...
Ulwe looks over at Lyssa when she offers his services. The large elf rises from his turf-bed. He straightens his armor and retrieves his spear from the branch he leaned it upon. His face betrays no emotion, however his voice hardens as he announces:
"It is to Raven's Gate then I shall with these folk? Though travelling through the Braithvale is perilous, and our new friends undoubtedly could use our assistance, I would rather set out with my kindred to the Cullwood. Lyssa, Before we depart I would have some words with Joalla."
"I will return within the hour."
He then excuses himself and sets out looking for someone in the camp.

Re: Hold
Draxim stares at the suspicious broo bone and a dark and fearful look crosses his face.
"What are you waiting for Sangraal? Destroy the accursed thing!"
Then to Ulwe and Naerdru, "We'll be pleased to have guides of skill with us." He is clearly working on perfecting patterns of formal speech. Too bad he is a bear of little brain. He wanders off to see to provisions, and fuss about with Ruig's remains, preparing them for the journey, though they have long been ready.

The Braithvale
Final preparations for the journey take about an hour or so. The group (except for Atan who's allergic to bathing) give themselves a good washing in the stream after several damp, cold days living in the depths of Old Kurlew. Their clothes and equipment are stained with blood, however, and though their flesh is clean they still carry the look of a gang of dockyard butchers.
Atan hits the Grovewardens up for a couple dozen arrows, and can't help but notice the sympathetic looks of the elves he comes across. It seems they know all about the Merek Lek and their unfortunate fate.
[Make a note on Atan's equipment list. Also, whoever is carrying the loot should also make a note of it.]
The group congregates at the edge of the Grove where Lyssa, Naredru and Ulwe await them. Beside them, on a simple wooden litter that happens to be floating several feet above the ground, is the enshrouded body of Ruig. Lyssa makes an intricate gesture with her hand and the litter, which was hovering a few feet from her side, slowly floats over to Naredru.
Farewells are exchanged and Lyssa bids the travellers a safe journey. With Ulwe in the lead the group makes for Raven's Gate.

Re: The Braithvale
Ulwe distributes small bundles to each of the group.
Inside a square of rough cloth are several hard cakes of some sort of nut meal. Also there are thin slices of air cured vennison. For a treat there is also a crisp hard apple.
