Re: Suns Up... so should you!
Breakfast is a brief and informal affair with little conversation around the camp fire. The Grovewardens are curious of their guests, but respectful of the duty they must soon perform.

In a quiet clearing a few yards away from the edge of the Grove, Meneloss is laid upon the pyre, wrapped in a white linen shroud. A dozen of the Grovewardens have come to witness the passing of a fellow elf. Lyssa, finally emerging from her morning reflections, approaches the gathering dressed in pale blue and green robes, a tall, but obviously ceremonial, spear in one hand.

"Meneloss was a friend of my friend, and stood with strength and courage in the face of the great Beast of Chaos. No living creature can aspire to a higher calling, or wish for a more valiant end than to join Yelm at the Throne of Dawn struggling against the darkness."

Lyssa's simple eulogy concluded, she steps back and waits for any else who may want to speak.

"Meneloss otorno. Glenna-ned tië taurë ii dagro-coth na lang, peng daw ech."

Atan steps forward, Gulkhu's severed head held by the antlers, his back arched with the weight. With a heave he throws it up onto the burning pyre. "Show Yelm. He will be pleased."

Re: Suns Up... so should you!
Kezib, watching the burning fire, watches as a friend raises to be with his maker.
"May you shine with our father, evermore" is all Kezib manages to say, before stepping back into the shadows to quietly reflect.

Looking to the sky, Kezib murmers to himself, "so little words, so many days pass. Truely your spirit and eagerness shall be missed, elven friend, May your spirit live on with us, with Yimris and Ruig watchin over us."
Kezib then closes his eyes and bows his head.

"You'd best have a cup 'o that nectar of the Gods ready for me when I get up there you pointy-eared bastard" Draxim sniffs and wipes a tear. He then throws his mug on the fire.

Atan looks over at the distraught dwarf's gesture, "Ummm, I don't think Meneloss would have wanted you to quit drinking."

Re: Suns Up... so should you!
On that less than solemn note the ceremony ends. Meneloss' corpse is slowly consumed by the roaring fire, his ashes carried away on the end. Exeunt!

Lyssa leads the group back to the cluster of pavillions that is her home. There a small campfire in front of the same large tent in which they had dinner the night before is being stoked by a muddy, travel-worn elf. As Lyssa approaches the elf stands and bows deeply. He is rather small for elfkind, being shorter than any of the humans in the party, and seems timid, his eyes darting about the clearing nervously. His simple garments are of the same dark grey color as the rest of the Grovewardens, but he is not armored.

"M'lady," the elf chirps. As the group approaches and Lyssa glides to the stranger's side, a second elf can be seen nearby. This one is in the characteristic dark grey leather armor of Lyssa's followers, and he leans heavily on a long spear. Both elves are caked with mud up to their knees, and the flush in their faces shows that they have been travelling hard up until a few minutes ago.

"Ah, excellent. I thought you might return this morning," Lyssa beams. She takes the mousy elf by the hands and looks into his eyes with open affection, then turns back to the group as they file around the small firepit.

"Gentlemen, this is Naredru. He is my apprentice. The young one yonder with the hard look is Ulwe, an acolyte and trusted friend. These two have returned from a little errand, yes? Successful, I assume."

The skittish Naredru nods as he surveys the gathered bunch of humans, elves and dwarves. "Yes, m'lady. We arrived after nightfall as you instructed. The door was sealed and the tower laid low. We departed immediately."

Lyssa gives a little laugh and claps her hands, clearly pleased.

"Excellent. A double victory for our cause. I imagine we gave the Lady Grugni quite a scare, but we can't have shrines to Chaos just laying about, open to anyone that blunders by, now can we? You have done well Naredru. Come and join us by the fire, and you too Ulwe. Take your rest with us, for I may need you again ere long. It is too early for wine, but Ydressa's cider is sweet and cool."

Lyssa seats herself at the fireside and motions everyone else to do the same. A collection of simple wooden chairs are scattered about the clearing, and it seems likely the sorceress takes council with the Grovewardens around this very fire.

If I had known it was that kind of party
Ulwe leans his longspear against the crook of a low limbed oak. He sits crosslegged upon the turf near the campfire. With his hands held to the flame, the sturdy elf warms himself after a long night's ordeal. As the cider is passed, Ulwe bows his head politely and holds up a hand. "Thanks but nay." he says politely in Moagaran noticing the mixed company.

Then the tall elf reiterates the other night's events after Naredru finishes his tale. Ulwe is non-plussed by the presence of strangers in the company of Lyssa; her trust being well placed, it is not questioned by him.
"Aye lady, we stole upon yon tower with nary a sound. Naredru there was most adroit at the instructions you left him. Since the lady Lyssa leaves little for fortune's folly, there was scant for me to do yet pray for a favorable outcome." Ulwe nods his head to the sorceress.

He then considers the assembly of humans with dwarf and elf. "As the lady Lyssa spoke, I am Ulwe. What do the poets say are your names?"

"Poets know nothing of our names," replies the tanned bald man standing in the group's rear. "Yet."

"There stands Atan, whom I name Sharpeyes, leader of our small company. And there is Ruglan Brooslayer, whose name the poets surely shall know soon. Here is Draxim, noble dwarf, and there Kezib, mystic and master of the martial arts.

"This is Sangraal, scion of Yelm. I am called Madragar."

Re: If I had known it was that kind of party
Ulwe stands and greets each member of the group with a firm handshake. Then he sits back down upon the turf, leaving the chairs for the newcomers.
Though he seems tired and a little travel-worn, the large elf remains awake and alert. Grateful for the invitation to join Lyssa's firecircle Ulwe is content only to listen for the moment.

Re: If I had known it was that kind of party
During introductions Atan, with his arms crossed against his chest, waves one hand slightly when his name is mentioned. When Madragar finishes, "Lady Grugni. I have wondered how she has fared since we left her a fortenight ago. It bothered us to leave her with an open portal of Chaos but our hand was forced and we had no knowldge of how to close it. Thank you for seeing it done. By chance did you see her or maybe catch a waft of her pumpkinbread? "

Re: If I had known it was that kind of party
When Atan mentions quitting drinking, Draxim looks at him as if he has three heads. "Huh?" he shrugs.

"There is an old proverb that when someone leaves your life it is because someone else is coming. Perhaps you are that person Ulwe? The members of our company that Madragar did not introduce are deaf to the living now, but their names should be known. They are Meneloss, the sorcerer lover of snakes. Scarred of face and curious. The other was Ruig the Steadfast. Preist of Urox, and member of the Ghurugil. Also, Yimris the mysterious. Quick blade and quick of temper who still lies in the chasm beneath Old Kurlew. Remember their names for they died to save these lands from Chaos." With the eulogy Draxim's time of emotionalism is at an end.

Draxim also hangs on the mention of Lady Grugni and any word as to her well being.

Re: If I had known it was that kind of party
Naredru pours Lyssa a cup full of the amber cider and shakes his head.

"We saw no one, and sought ourselves not to be seen. The traveller's house was aglow with firelight, though we reached the watchtower past midnight. So, I'd say at least that Grugni is alive and well, which is fortunate considering there are still Jangui warbands skulking along the edges of Osender and the depths of the Cullwood."

What to do, what to do
Atan moves over closer to the fire carrying a small log. Dropping it, he turns it upright and sits. "So the Jengui roam out of the Wilds and up through the Nral valley. Without Edrigan the Gold and the Merek Lek, the Broo can move without contest. Lyssa, are there any others who oppose them?"

Re: What to do, what to do
Lyssa sips from her cup and considers the question.

"The men of Dobrug are active, and have begun patrolling the frontiers of their land. If the Jangui were not so depleated, and their champion had not been cut down in the depths of Old Kurlew, I would be more concerned. Broo without leadership are no more than animals. I have confidence that the Osenders can counter this threat and drive the broo south before winter."

"There are, however, signs of some dark spirit rising along the Nral valley. On the west bank of the river, several days south of Dobrug, a pack of the boar-headed Charkra broo have made their lair in an old mining village. This I learned from Koraeus before we were seperated on the shoulders of Old Kurlew. Their purpose is a mystery."

"Of course," Lyssa smiles at the young, energetic folk surrounding her. "If you are looking for more Chaos slaves to send back to the abyss, they await you at all points of the compass. Tunlura, the Hrulru, even the seat of the Storm Bull's strength in Raven's Gate is not free of corruption."

Re: What to do, what to do
Picking up a stick Atan pokes the burning embers of the fire, "Well everyone. We have done what we set out to do. You all should ask yourselves to what path does your feet point? I know that at least Draxim and I will return to the Ghurgil, and most likely Madragar as well." Looking over, "Vala's heart would be lighter if she was to see you alive and in one piece, wizard. But what of the rest of you? Ruglan will you return with us to lay Ruig to rest?"

What to do... look at the treasure!
[OOC: lets get Madragar to cast detect magic on the items we recovered from under Old Kurlew. Maybe Lyssa can do an identify. Also lets see what those rings are worth, some of us found out we actually need to wear armor.]

Corruption realy sets me off.
"What is this corruption you speak of in Raven's Gate? I would not see the majestic halls of the Ghurugil come to harm!"
