Re: Corruption realy sets me off.
"Nor would I, brave Draxim," Lyssa replies. "But there is no place in Yelm's creation that is immune to the creeping influence of Chaos. Raven's Gate is a bastion of the Storm Bull's soldiers, and no servant of the dark gods would dare to pass through its gates. But underneath the town? Well, I'm not so sure."

Atan the insensitive
[OOC: Sometimes you need to post out of character. Sangraal wasn't awake when you found the loot, so Sangraal can't say anything. Matter of fact, you all have not disclosed what you found. Mr. Good-Ranger-Elf-Magic User-Thief-Liar-Cheater-Indian giver!]
Sangraal deep in thought, frowns at Atans interuption.
"I intend to go to Ravensgate, reprovision and then to destroy the Hyrgalas. Cleansing the river of that abomination of a town can only help increase the flow of vital goods needed to keep Ravensgate from falling in a siege. If the time of darkness is indeed rising."

Re: Atan the insensitive
[True. I would actually prefer if every so often folks would break away from the first person in favor of the second.
"Bob tells Stan about the whole experience and shows him all the loot so that he can appraise it."
There's nothing wrong with that, and it helps move the game along. It's not really an important part of the story, but is something people naturally do.]

Ulwe
"An acolyte of Orlanth be you?" Sangraal asks the resting elf. "At least your trappings mark you as such. I am Sangraal of Dobrug, Adherent of the Bringer. As my fellow companion Madragar stated earlier."

Re: Ulwe
Atan stands and excuses himself. He disappears into the tent and seconds later is back with his pack in his hand. Pulling a sack out of the pack, he carefully removes each, being particular wary of the steel rings.
[Ultimately layed out on the ground:
--2 thick silver bicep bands (jackal)
--steel bladed rings
--jar of purplish goo
--crude gold ring (Jackal)
--3 gold "thumb-sized" ingots
--bone cylinder w/ inscription (Jackal)]

I'm rich!.... I mean "we're rich"....
Sangraal examines the items Atan has revealed. Extending his hand he begins to mumur a quick chant.

Re: I'm rich!.... I mean "we're rich"....
[Note to Sangraal]
Draxim, the only one at the circle besides Lyssa with any skill at appraisal, leans over the pile of valuables and rubs his chin.
"These armbands are interesting... Olmani craftsmanship, so crude but durable. We may be able to get twenty gold for each. The gold ring is of the same simple design... maybe forty gold for that piece. Now the ingots..."
Draxim bounces a chunk of gold in his hand and smiles.
"Feels pure... more than two pounds each. So, in weight of coin these are worth more than one hundred Lunars each, but a jeweler would certainly pay more for them. Big ingots like these are hard to find."
Lyssa picks up the two bladed rings, inspects them for a moment, then sets the wicked jewelry back down. She then takes a close look at the jar of sticky purple stuff and sets it down as well.
"Poison, and the means to deliver it. Unless any of you have some skill in using such things I would dispose of it. The graveyards are full of fools who fell to carelessness with their own venom."
Without touching the bone cylinder, Lyssa leans back in her chair, still staring at it.
"I have seen enough of those things to know we would be wise to take it far from this place and destroy it. The shamen of the Jangui scribe their blasphemous sorcery on such objects."

Re: I'm rich!.... I mean "we're rich"....
Recoiling with disgust, Sangraal spits a curse as his hand passes over the bone case.
"Insalubrious arcana."
He informs those around him.
"Burn it."

"Eh? Madragar, did Kyeth your raven manage to get a message to the two Ghurugil on the mountain?"
Draxim continues scrutinizing the armbands and the ring. He pulls out his cleaning cloths and a brush and sets to work making them more marketable.

Re: Ulwe
The elf simply nods an affirmative to Sangraal's question.
He listens to the conversation intently and keeps his peace until now.
"Gentlemen, I am honored to be in such brave company as those present and departed." He looks Draxim as he says the last words.
Continuing, Ulwe says "Raven's Gate is not far from here and you have grim business there with your fallen comrade. Your battle boons must also be rendered to the merchants in the bustling markets of Raven's Gate. Where from there shall you go once Ruig is returned to his hall and the gold is spent?"
Then he turns to his leader and uncounsciously asks in Elven: ""Lyssa, is Hyrgalas as dangerous as Sangaal says?"
Atan notices that Ulwe's Elven is of a slightly different dialect than his, and has to listen carefully to understand what Ulwe says.
[ooc: it is Hyrgalas not Hrulru. Hrulru is a plain where the giant wolves are. Hyrgalas is the mysterious town enshrouded in mist.]

Kyethe
[GM? What's our industrious raven up to? Madragar sent him off to find the two waiting Ghurugil.]
[It's quite a way to Old Kurlew from the Grove, about 12 miles as the... um, crow flies. Kyethe had to wait until dawn before setting out, so should return sometime in the next hour or so. -GM]

Hyrgahrulruae
Lyssa gives Ulwe an odd look and shakes her head, much as she has done a dozen times before when other Grovewardens have asked about that mysterious village. Sweeping an errant lock of pale blonde hair from her face, Lyssa rises and walks a short distance away to where Kezib stands in meditation. The monk is silent and still, his eyes closed, his breathing shallow and calm.
Ulwe is familiar with this behavior, and knows well how the elven sorceress' moods can change, her mind turning from matters of grave consequence to the most trivial detail of their daily routine with unpredictable swiftness. For now, it seems, she is somehow concerned with the Sekastian monk and shares a few words with him.
[Note to Kezib.]

Re: Hyrgahrulruae
Ulwe's face shows a small sign of amusement at Lyssa's response to his question as if he was expecting it. He shrugs it off and then puts a question to the newcomers.
"So then what are you adventurers to do after you finish your business at the Gate?"
Fatigue taking its toll, Ulwe stretches out and reclines. He props up his drooping head with his arm as he tries to pay attention to the answers of the others.

"We were lucky once, Sangraal," says Madragar. "Let us learn more of this place before we go where the magi fear to tread. In the meantime, we shall not go idle. Chaos has stretched forth its hand all about us. You will not swing your flail without striking one of its fingers."

Re: Hyrgahrulruae
Lyssa wanders back to the campfire, seemingly in no particular hurry to do anything at this hour of the morning. Pouring herself another cider she stands next to the wiry Naredru and touches him lightly on the shoulder. The sorceress whispers a few words in his ear to which the apprentice nods and retreats into a nearby tent, emerging a moment later.
"Gentlemen, you are of course welcome to take your rest in the Grove as long as you like. I have protected Ruig's body from the slow corruption of the dead so that he may be laid to rest with the same look of vitality that he had in life. If you are indeed to return to Raven's Gate I ask that you allow these two," she gestures toward Naredru and Ulwe, "to accompany you. They know the way through the forest, and Naredru will make transporting Ruig's body much easier, I assure you."

Guide and ~magic~
"Naredru and Ulwe are more then welcome to join us in our journey back to Ravensgate." Sangraal says accepting the offer of a guide through the forest.
"A guide will hasten our return to Ravensgate. Once we have put Ruig to rest with his ancestors then we can choose our course."
[OOC: The detect magic I cast found necromantic magic in the bone scroll. I recommend burning the scroll. Sangraal feels pretty strongly about evil necromantic magic. Nothing else showed magic.]

[It's not a scroll case, but a scroll written on bone. There's nothing inside.]
