Re: The Scrolls of Irian Aros
"Seems doubtful then that he hide anything here." Sangraal stays his search of the guest quarters.

"Though I wish to sate my ale partched tongue, I remember a errend I must complete. If any wish to accompany me, I am heading down to the armors to pick up a shield."

[OOC: Sangraal will armor up and don his helmet. He wishes it to be a short trip there and back but if he's learned anything, it pays to be careful.

Joyner: oops sorry about that. Did'nt read all of Halles post. I promise to play the game.]

Re: The Scrolls of Irian Aros
Ulwe absent-mindedly puts his fingers in the gaping hole in his armor.

"Dawn-brother, I'll go with you. Yet let us take Savud's advice. We are alive and in one piece. The Ghurugil have smited the Enemy down. We have met new companions. Stay and drink an ale. We shall wait for Kildeer and hear his news. Besides with the looters and mercenaries running this town, I'll doubt that an armorer is open. Have an ale and praise Yelm."

The Sea-Elf then makes an ackward face and approaches Atan.
He addresses the Merek in elven....

Re: The Scrolls of Irian Aros
Madragar simply shrugs in response to Atan's question. Vagn offers "assuming this dwarf woman was in league with Snakepipe, or whoever, she may have wanted you to know who rescued you. I can't fathom why."

"Something that intrigues me more," the dwarf's voice trails off to a whisper "is how she knew you were there."

Savud, scratching his beard (a time honored dwarven mannerism) stares off into the depths of the fireplace, listening to the conversation but is also deep in thought.

Re: The Scrolls of Irian Aros
Looking up at the Yelmite, with the frosty head mingling with the mustache of his dark beard, Kaleb replys "Whats the errand?"

"Yes Savud, that has been bothering me as well. I am wondering if trying to re-establish contact would be a good idea. At least she could clear up the question of her participation in all this."

Re: The Scrolls of Irian Aros
Deciding that these matters are beyond his poor intelligence, Draxim trusts to the others and Urox to guide the party. He starts to go with Kaleb and Sangraal, but then remembering his promise, he trundles off with Madfilin intending to help in the kitchen. While there he will encourage Madfilin to reveal more details of the campaign.

To the armor!
"The morning is the best time as most of the ruffins are still sleeping off the long night. I shall return quickly enough, as I mean not to dally. Ulwe you might want to come with me as your armor seems to have a hole in it."
Turning to the ale swilling Ranger " Kaleb, I am heading into town to pick up a piece of armor. It is a short trip but you are welcome to accompany me irregardless."

[OOC: Sangraal has already paid for the shield work but will take 10 gold]

Long story short...
Sangraal, Kaleb and Ulwe (if he wants) head off into the town to visit Rhurvalos, the armorer. In less than an hour they return to the lodge with word that many of the barricades that cluttered Ravensgate's streets have been abandoned or dismantled. Word of the Ghurugil's march through the town has had a sobering effect, it seems, and the trio even notices a pair of Swordelder acolytes confronting a pack of bleary eyed mercenaries. Law, such as it is, slowly creeps back into the town.

Kildeer comes back from the Swordelder temple to report that they have emerged from the siege and are out in the streets trying to restore order. The dwarf describes in some detail the massive holes smashed in the iron-bound doors of the temple, and the fist-sized chunks of stone that look to have been torn directly from the foundation of the place. Kildeer even produces one small granite brick with four long gashes in it, each the width of a finger. The markings look idential to what one might produce by squeezing a ball of clay.

The Ghurugil, and everyone remaining in the lodge, take the time to get cleaned up. Madfilin accepts Draxim's help (at least he's not a stinky elf!) and produces a very hearty stew in short order. Soon the entire lodge is sitting quietly in the main hall, half of the dwarves falling asleep in their chairs. The entire lodge except for Boahur, who has yet to make an appearance.

Vagn, however, is still alive with activity. Producing a tiny, tattered notebook he works on translating the old Olmani script on Irian's scroll.

Re: Long story short...
Ulwe will see about getting his armor repaired or replaced.
He also inquired about replacing his shield and spear...

As the trio head to the armorer, Ulwe all but ignores Sangraal and speaks in elven to Kaleb.

He asks where the human hails from where he learned Elven and how he knows the grovewardens....

Re: Long story short...
The Ghurugil offer to replace Ulwe's lost shield and spear, though they have no armor that would fit his long elven frame. Algeir produces a small box bristling with needles and sinew, as well as a few strips of thick leather.

"It won't be pretty, but I'll fix that hole until you can do better, Rura."

As Algeir gets to work, Ulwe turns to Savud and raises an eyebrow at the dwarf's choice of words.

Savud shrugs and explains. "Rura. That is our word for one that is struck down before the battle is joined... the victim of a stray arrow when the lines have yet to meet. An unfortunate thing, but not uncommon."

Re: Long story short...
Quietly and as polite as possible, in elvish, Kaleb says to Ulwe "The past will reveal itself, for now is not the time, once we have time, we may reveal the past of both of our lives. If that pleases you" Then, looking to Savud with a smirk, hidden under the beard, Kaleb finishes by saying "Rura"

Holding his smile back as best he can, Kaleb erupts into a hearty laugh patting the elf on the back, saying "Your alright."

Re: Long story short...
Ulwe tolerates the good-natured ribbing with a dispassionate look.
Once the scruffy woodsman ceases his guffaw, the Aerendalen points to the hole in the armor being repaired by Algeir and says
"'Twas no stray arrow what brought me low and sundered yon armor. Nay it were no arrow but the treachery of a familar face worn by the Enemy."

He then shoots Algeir a dark look and says "We have many words in my language for one such as you ... mellanin" (friend)

Ulwe waits a moment and his tanned weather creased face cracks a smile.

[Ulwe will gladly and appreciativly accept the Ghurugil's offer for replacement shield and spear]

Translation
Vagn hovers over the first of Irian's scrolls, his little notebook in hand, trying to decipher the Olmani writing. After much beard scratching and mumbling to himself, the old dwarf sets down his quill and shrugs.

Naredru, who was watching Vagn with curiosity, pulls up a chair.

"I know something of the Ironhoof language, and that of the Kulbrae." The mousy apprentice has an air of confidence that he often seems to lack, being much more at ease within the realm of study and translation.

Vagn smiles, moves his chair to one side, and silently watches the young elf go to work translating the inscription.

Re: Translation
After studying the snakepipe for awhile Atan attention is grabbed by the pulverized stone that Kildeer has produced. "Well, Sangraal your perceptiveness has linked my apparition to the events at the Swordelders temple. In addition Irian Aros was on the streets the night the faceless women arrived and he was at the temple just before his death. Maybe the Swordelders can shed more light on this for us."

Slowly nodding his head at Ulwe's remark, Kaleb will sink into his own thoughts, watching the two pouring over the parchments, across the room.

To the mystery mobile!
"I agree Atan, though I can see the individual pieces, I fail to see the big picture which troubles me. We should go to the SwordElders."

Re: To the mystery mobile!
Ulwe stands up from the table.
"Yes I agree as well. Let's beseech the Sword Elders for their wisdom. "

Adressing the sewing Dwarf the sea-Elf continues

"I'll leave my armor to your expert care Algeir.
However I will not wander these streets unarmed. I'll take my new spear and trusty Ghurugil shield."

He places his helmet over his matted long brown hair. A portion of his mane is tied back to keep it from his green-blue eyes.
With new shield and spear in hand he waits to see who else will go.

Re: To the mystery mobile!
"I'll go if you give me a minute."

Atan returns to his room and comes back in his leather armor and all his equipment. "Can't be too careful.", he says to Sangraal as he walks past.

Walking over to Vhraalam (or whomever if he is not awake) he takes a seat. In his right hand Atan holds out a fairly straight piece of antler from which others recognize as having been cut from Gulkhu's rack. With a troublesome grin, "I see you are rested and full so I am going to bother you. I wish to have a dagger made with this as the pommel and I would like to have it be a Ghurugil blade. Could this be done? Not this instant of course."

Re: To the mystery mobile!
Vhraalam sits up from his reclined position, hand on full belly, and regards the bit of bone. The barrel-chested dwarf shakes his head.

"It cannot. That bit of antler still bears the corruption of Chaos, and it would profane the weapon it touched. Discard it, Atan. Or better yet, destroy it."

Re: To the mystery mobile!
"Hmmf, I thought that may be the case. I will destory it then." Atan looks towards the fire, motioning an underhand throw and then back at the Dwarf.

[If Vhraalam has no objections he chucks it in the fire. If he does then Atan will hold onto it and dipose of it later.]

"Ready when you are Sangraal."
