Re: Temple bound.
With a smirk from remembering Irian when Kaleb first met the strange Priest Kaleb pipes in "I have seen many a strange thing in my travels. At first, I considered Irian among the most strange of them all. However, when he would describe to me, what he was seeking, the description was precise. I do not believe, Irian, to be among those that are lacking in sense, nor do I believe him to be a mad man. After spending the time with him, I believe that he truly was being led by Yelm."

Re: Temple bound.
Draxim is always looking for the next sign from God.

"Then its simple! These scrolls have found their way here for a reason, and Kaleb, its no accident that you find yourself in our company. We should solve this riddle!"

He looks around expectantly for all the smart folk to suddenly solve everything.

"Whatever happened to Bucket?" he later adds.

Broo hunting bound.
Atan, seated in one of the comfortable dwarven chairs by the fire, leg proped up on a foot stool, "Guided by Yelm? Irian and Kaleb wandered the Ulm for five months! And that's with a god as the guide. We don't have those visions to guide us. We will just be retracing his steps. We don't even know what all these clues are yet which leaves us guessing. I don't like guessing, seems wasteful. I'd rather deal with a known problem then chasing the unknown. To me, the bigger fire seems right now to be the Charkra. Let us deal with them and in three weeks we can return and then begin our own investigation. Besides, " playing to the fickle elf, "Lyssa went into the Cullwood. The same direction we would be headed. We could track her down."

[We two votes for Charkra (well one unless Sean J. changes) and two for chasing the Irian clues. YT, Jason, Conlon, chime in with your two cents so we can move, move, move. Clearly state what you want to do.]

Yumpin' Yelminy
[OOC: Ulwe might have returned but Sangraal stayed and requested an audience with the High Priest. ]

Entering the hall unannounced Sangraal makes his way to a open chair. Settling down he waits for Atan to finish.

"I have met with Caed, the high priest of the Ash Lion. We conversed while walking the grounds, though he laid some of the more troubling concerns to rest, others he had no answer. In the morning I am going to the Tower to greet Yelm as he rises. Then I will prepare to travel into the Nral Valley heading for the mines south of Dobrug. To take battle to the Charka tribe and Yelm willing drive them from their ill gotten den."

I'll have a Brrrooooooo Christmas without yooouuuu.
"Well you're not goin' into no mines and facing corrupted hideous disgusting broo without a dwarf along. I'm comin' wi' ya!" Draxim spits out. He is getting a bit red in the face and puts down his ale suddenly staring at it as if it has betrayed him. "Besides," he adds "perhaps we will pick up more clues along the way."

Re: Yumpin' Yelminy
Ulwe asks Sangraal:

"What concerns were laid to rest? If you do not mind sharing in this company, what did you speak of?"

[A straight-forward assault on the Charkra is just that:
unsubtle and slightly boring (though I bet there is some serious excitement in store!) We've already fought a bunch of Broo.

Giant Black Wolves and an epic goal to me is a lot more interesting.
The quest to find the Rune Lord (if that is what Irian was after) is a unifying goal which could give the party purpose.

I'm not sure I'll simply go with a majority vote. If enough people want to work on the scrolls then that is where I will go.

the draw back is 3 weeks gametime = a year and a half real time. We'll never meet back up again.

Recap:
2 votes Irian: Jason, Sean
3 Votes Charkra: Halle, Whitney, Kenner
Waiting to hear from Nolan and Conlon]

Re: Yumpin' Yelminy
Ruglan finally speaks up. "I think that these scrolls were brought to us by fate. As much as I would prefer to bury my blade in more broo, they are less important than helping a Runelord. We should give our full attention to this mystery now, and if we fail to learn more, then go to the mines."

Re: Yumpin' Yelminy
Smiling at the normally silent fighter, Kaleb states "As much as my blood boils when the mere mention of the word Broo is made, I truly feel that at this time, our paths, or at least mine, is to continue this search. I was with Irian for a while and, though I hold no legion to any god, though I do know they exist, it seems clear to me that we must investigate these parchments closer. Irian was not a man obsessed nor was he mad. He was searching for something to aid the Light, and defeat darkness."

...Pong
"Well if Broo slayer says that this is more important than slaying broo, then that's good enough for me! We should continue the investigation." Draxim peers at the scrolls again and looks expectantly at Vagn, as if by mere expectation, sage feats of intuition will suddenly spring forth.

Re: ...Pong
Atan looks quizzicaly at the vacillating Draxim and then at Ruglan, "Did I miss something? Who said anything about a trapped Runelord? That was conjecture based on Irian's scrolls. We know nothing of this, we don't even know what these scrolls mean yet. " Atan is standing now pointing at the scrolls, "And the only person with additional information won't talk to us. As we wait here, Broo are raiding the undefended Nral Valley."

[I agree that the Irian thread has some important role to play but we have nothing to go on other then retracing the footsteps of Kaleb and Irian. Investigating Hyrgalas is the only real step in that direction I can think of other then going and wandering around the Ulm hoping for something to happen.]

Re: ...Pong
[Kaleb says: "Irian believed that a powerful warrior or priest of Yelm was trapped somewhere in Moagara. Beneath the earth or in some other place he could not say, but his visions kept him driven towards the goal of finding this man."]

Ruglan addresses Atan, "Kaleb just said that Irian was searching for someone powerful, trapped, that could help us defeat the dark forces."

Ruglan pats Atan on the shoulder, "Perhaps you should rest. Your ordeal must still be too near for truely clear thought."

Re: ...Pong
"To help us defeat the dark forces? I don't remember him saying that, that is something you added in. For all you know it could be this faceless women who wrecked the Humakt temple toying with Irian. A servant of Choas begging for release from the Pit of Slaeg Gnarra who was using trickery to get him to open the doors in Old Kurlew. Or maybe the priest was just insane." Atan holds up his hands to ward off the impending cries of disbelief, "My point is is that you don't know, you can't know. Only Irian did and it died with him. All we have is these scrolls and a bunch of guesses."

"The Charkra are known and a danger. If we go for this mystery we may travel for some time and accomplish very little. If we attack these Broo we will have fought Chaos and during this time Mad and Sangraal may decipher these scrolls."

Re: ...Pong
"A powerful warrior or priest of Yelm would help to defeat the forces of darkness, don't you think? Surely you have seen Yelm's power channeled through Sangraal. It is mighty indeed."

"You are correct that we are still guessing about what all this means, but we arrived barely in time to stop the broo from opening the pit under the mountain. I believe we must act quickly. Dealing with the Charkra may delay us far too long."

Re: ...Pong
"Eliminating Broo is always a good way to go. Upon seeing the SwordElders manner of treating us, was not a promising site. However, I do echo" pointing to Ruglan, "his thoughts, of having a powerful Warrior that, in my opinion, was from Yelm to help defeat Chaos, is a strong ally. Knowing Irian as well as I do, I do not think he was crazy, as you put it, Ranger. Regardless, it appears to me as my path has crossed with yours, and I shall follow it as it varies. I have no problem with killing Broo, either way, it shall be fun" Kaleb finishes with a gleam in his eyes.

You can go your own way you can call it thunder
Ulwe holds his hand up as if to silence the bickering.

"Atan, you are correct. The Charkra are a threat. We all know what Broo can do and have done. If you must journey several weeks across Moagara to confront the imminent threat of the Charkra then that is your fate.

It may be the fate of others to pursue a different path. Do not be angry with the choices of others. Do as your heart tells you Finith Ring.

I am becoming convinced that it is my fate to follow the steps of Irian Aros"

Re: You can go your own way you can call it thunder
"Atan," says Madragar, having listened quietly to the debate. "The broo are a terrible scourge, but in the end they amount to little more than the fever, while these scrolls point to the source of the disease."

"We have here assembled a unique pool of talent. Few can do as we, and fewer still are of the mettle to try. There are many who can battle the broo, but few who can wrestle with their subtle masters. You are in position to lead such a force. No other can lead us. Do not waste that opportunity on mere carnage."

"Irian took his own life rather then let a demon take him, his death at his own hands were his final act of courage. I have sought guidence in pray and inquery on the matter of Irian....I only know that in my heart that my path does not lay with following Irian's scrolls. At least not at this time."

"I am cheered though to know that fine champions such as yourselves yearn to champion Yelms cause. That alone bring joy to my soul. So we go our own ways. We shall meet again I do not doubt."

Looking at Sangraal, somewhat surprised at his decision, "Where lies your path, then? I thought you, one of the same God would follow in Irians footsteps."

Re: You can go your own way you can call it thunder
"I do not waste my efforts on mere carnage. I put my skills where I have confidence that they make a difference. The Nral valley is an immediate danger. I have seen and heard nothing that indicates that these scrolls point towards the masters of Chaos or some super hero waiting to be rescued. Irian wandered for seven months searching. I don't know what he was searching, neither did he by his own writing and whatever it is, it is not imminent."

[Hey, I am the first to admit that these scrolls seem important. But in game, there have not been any answers or plans as to how to deal with it. Atan is not going to sit around or wander about hoping something falls in his lap. He goes with what he knows and does not gamble with bad odds intentionally. There should be a plan based on the knowledge we have that gives us a direction and I don't mean "Hey, lets go walk around the Ulm and find wolves."]

Re: You can go your own way you can call it thunder
"I agree, that there is merit in your argument. This world would be better off, rid of those vile Broo, however, I was with Irian, helping him search for this" Kaleb pauses to search his words "quest of sorts. He was not a man posessed of madness seeking things that were not there. Those places he asked me to seek, were valid places. Those markings on the scrolls, were from those places, that he sought me to find for him. Some I was able to find, others, I could not. We have people looking at the scrolls (OOC: are the dwarfs still looking at them or am I way off base?) Mysteries are not things that just reveal themselves like that, we need to investigate. Regardless, I respect your choosing, and I too am at a loss as to where we can start." Kaleb finishes with a prolonged sigh.
