Re: Huh! Wha!?
[tap tap is this thing on? Apologies to all]
"Of course I'm coming! You know, there were two fellows in the bar who were watching us. I wonder if this has anything to do with them. They stank like week old fish. I'll bet that they were the ones that wer following us too."
Draxim, being still armed and armored departs with Ulwe and Madragar.

Re: Come out, come out, where ever you are.
The Plaza:
Ruglan shakes his head. The alley remains pitch black until Sangraal hurls in his glowing cobblestone. The rock lands in the mud some thirty feet down the alley, illuminating a forty foot stretch of the narrow, shadow filled lane. Neither Sangraal nor Ruglan can see much. There is a single side alley disappearing into darkness about thirty feet away, and the alley continues beyond the light.
Sangraal's quiet chanting did not attract much attention from the truculent drunks loitering around the plaza, but the sudden appearance of a bright ball of light certainly did. Many people look in their direction, and some even begin to wander over.
The Lodge:
Ulwe and Draxim follow Madragar back out into the chill night air, leaving the suddenly exhausted Naredru behind.

Its dark in here and Im cold......
Seeing the way way is clear, Sangraal tugs on Ruglans sleeve.
"Come on."
Without giving a backward glance Sangraal trots down the alley and scoops up the light source. Cupping it protectively in his hand to dampen the illumination, dagger at the ready, Sangraal stares down the side alley.
"Watch my back Ruglan." Sangraal indicates for Ruglan to stay alert for anybody entering the alley from either direction.

Re: Come out, come out, where ever you are.
With a small crowd of spectators at the mouth of the alley, Sangraal and Ruglan squeeze down the alley single file. Despite covering the cobblestone the amount of light escaping from the little glowing ball, if it is enough for them to see where they are going, makes their explorations fairly obvious to anyone that cares to look for it.
Sangraal reaches the intersection. The southern part of the alley gets much muddier, and Sangraal can only detect a few puddles of water up to the range of his light. To the east the alley goes a short distance, passes a very old looking wooden door and turns sharply to the south.

When Draxim mentions the two fellows in the bar Ulwe asks:
"Was one of them a short, portly fellow? He approached me after you left. Said he was looking for YOU Madragar."

Draxim shakes his head. "They were young. Street toughs I'd say."

Leading the way Sangraal goes to the southern corner and peaks around it half expecting an attack.
[OOC: Sangraal peaks around the bend and if nothing is down that way he'll backtrack to investigate th door.]

Around the corner the alley disappears into darkness about 20' away. Returning to the door Sangraal finds it locked, or blocked from the other side.

Sangraal can't pick up the trail. Which way does he go? Straight south, or south past the door?

Sangraal heads South past the door. Warily keeping an eye out for skulkers and brigands.

Re: Its dark in here and Im cold......
Sangraal and Ruglan move on into the shadowy backalleys of the town. Beyond the door the alley turns from south to east, travels for ten feet or so, passing another locked wooden door, then branches again. It appears that after about thirty feet in either direction the alley ends. To the north stands the plaza, to the south another street.
As a matter of fact, at the north end of the alley Sangraal can see that Madragar, Draxim and Ulwe have arrived, guided to their general location by Kyethe who has been following them from above. Sangraal and Ruglan traverse the dark thirty feet of narrow alley to rejoin their friends.

"Alright," says Madragar, relieved to see that all are in one piece. "Any idea where Kezib and Atan are?"

Frustrated with his lack of success Sangraal relays everything that has transpired.
"....and I lost the trail at the mouth of this alley. Maybe theres a sewer or trapdoor somewhere?"
[Sangraal goes back to where the trail ended and searches around for trap/hidden doors/sewer entrence.]

While Sangraal does that, Madragar releases Kyethe. "Go look around the nearby streets and see if you can find Kezib or Atan. Come back and tell me where they are."

Re: Its dark in here and Im cold......
Sangraal scours the area and finds no sewer (not surprisingly as there are no sewers in Raven's Gate) or any kind of hidden door. Kyethe takes flight but does not have good nightvision, so really just flits around the rooftops staring at the dizzying array of people crowding the streets below.

Follow Your Nose!
[ooc: On the way to meet up with the others, Ulwe tells MADRAGAR about his conversation with Raega...]
"Madragar, while you were off searching for a trouble-free establishment, I spoke with a certain Raega. He approached me and said he was familiar with you. He saw you testifying on the Slab about your exploits to Old Kerlew. I never took you for a boaster but anyways... He was interested in meeting you to discuss 'trade items.' The toughs who apparently followed us into Raven's Rest may simply have been in the employ of this Raega, or he may be more than he seems."
After the party meets up and Ulwe hears about Sangraal's dispiriting tale he asks the Sun-Priest:
"This scent of the Enemy, did you lose track of it or does it simply stop here? The door you described, did you check it for a taint of the Dark Ones"

[ooc: still before mmeting up w/others...]
Ulwe answers Madragar the instant the bald mage stops speaking...
"He was shorter than most humans and was portly. A fat fellow, looked like he worked with the ledger which is what he told me. He said to send word to he House Ailus traders by the docks. What goods did you proclaim to have from Old Kerlew which would have this trader after you so?"
