Re: Separated...
Ulwe smiles at Savud
"Alright then, though trust is shared not given. For the moment I am satisfied."
Then he continues to Sal'el
"Do you think that the missing two are still alive? Is it possible they were captured for ransom? That is what I mean."

Re: Separated...
Sangraal sipping absently from his cup nods in approval of Ulwes request.
"Madragar, Your refusal to talk about your enemies is your own counsel but your name keeps coming up in this very tangled web. This Raega character asks for you out of the blue and we have not even been in the city a day. You and your master had traveled to Old Kurlew. Back at Tunlura during the evening meal you had us all running from this phantom pursurer, who spoke to you and Ruig. Meneloss spoke of being ambushed by Druuga, an enemy of yours, an enemy by your own words you were fleeing, seeking safty for Vala. Now I am not saying that this enemy is invovled in the dissapearence of Atan and Kezib....."
Uneasy at pushing the question Sangraal stares into his cup.
"....but to dismiss an enemy that is hunting you is short sighted. If he is your enemy then he is our enemy. I think we have a right to know. I for one do not want a dagger in the back from an enemy I did not know."

Re: Separated...
During Sangraal's speech Sal'el whispers to Ulwe "at this point, anything is possible" then waits for Madragar's reply to the priest's inquisition.

"No."
Madragar, having had enough, takes up his staff and crossbow and heads out to look for this Raega himself.

Re: Separated...
[Note to Madragar.]
The tatooed wizard storms out of the Lodge, leaving the new silent common room behind him.
Sal'el claps his hands, rubbing them together in a way that seems to indicate he is eager for the day's challenges.
"Well, shall we get started? I think it would be best if I began at the plaza, though I imagine I'll have to wait until afternoon before any reliable source recovers from last night's revelry."

Re: Separated...
Disheartend my Madragars insistance Sangraal watches him gather his gear and leave.
"That could have gone better." he says to no one in particular.
"Well, Ulwe I say we let Sal'el do what hes good at. Sal'el how about we meet you later in the day after you have had a chance to talk to your....sources?"

Re: Separated...
"Certainly Sangraal," Sal'el replies. "There is a small tavern near the Temple of the Ash Lion, its door painted green. It doesn't look so much like a tavern from outside, but it is a quiet place and I know the proprietor. Meet me there when the sun touches the west wall."

Re: Separated...
Ulwe's eyebrows narow as he regards the impetuous wizard leaving.
To Sangraal he asks:
"What does Madragar have to hide? If he had not been so reticent with his personal problems I could have been on better guard for this Raega character. I am not convinced the trader is the cause of our current crisis however. Hopefully I am correct for if I am wrong, that tattooed fishmonger's son is going to get himself and possibly all of us in more trouble."
Ulwe then seeks out Naredru and has a few words with him in Elven

Re: Separated...
"Sal'el," Draxim's voice croaks drily from lack of use.
"Before you go you should know that when we were at the tavern last night we were being watched. After we left we were followed, and it is quite possible that the watchers were the ones doing the following, but I can't be sure."
Draxim continues, describing the ruffians in the corner as best he can.
"If no one minds, I will try to track down Madragar and keep an eye on him. Just because he's mad and stubborn doesn't mean we shouldn't support him."

"Draxim that is an excellent idea. You should not waste time for he already has a head-start.
Sangraal should we all head to Raega and the House Ailus?"

Re: Separated...
"Draxim that is an excellent idea. Madragar will appreciate what ever help you can give him. But as to me traveling to see Raega, I will refrain. I feel Madragar wishes to solve his problems on his own terms. When hes ready, so will I be there to help."
Sangraal looks to Ulwe.
" If you wish to go with Draxim to watch out for Madragar, I am sure he'd appreciate the company. I intend to stay here on the Grugugils grounds, then meet Sal'el at the given time."
[OOC: Sangraal is Ulwe leaves will spend the time praying and offering suplications to Yelm. If Ulwe stays Sangraal would like to hear how Orlanth is revered in Elven culture and how Yelm is worshipped.]

Draxim heads our in search of the distinct looking wizard. He will try not to be obvious. He will also keep an eye out for anyone who might be watching as they exit the lodge, or for people following.

Re: Separated...
Sal'el leaves the Lodge at about the same time as Draxim and Ulwe. None of them spot anyone lurking outside, or observing their movements. There are, however, plenty of places to hide near the large Ghurugil compound, and a host of dark windows that could be used to observe anyone leaving the main entrace to the Lodge. The crowded, winding streets of Raven's Gate are a rogue's paradise.
Draxim and Ulwe make their way through the town, and not surprisingly find it a simple matter to follow the trail of a bald man with a raven on his shoulder. They march north and east toward the Red Citadel and the only gate out of town, surmising that Madragar is headed for the purported location of Raega and the local House Ailus office near the docks.
While making their way through the smokey streets of Raven's Gate, Draxim and Ulwe can't help but notice the ease by which they are able to follow Madragar's movements. Surely his unusual appearance makes him stand out to anyone sitting idly by, watching the passage of the morning crowd. But there is something else. More than a few of the townsfolk seem to recognize him more readily than expected.
After a little prodding, Draxim and Ulwe find that Madragar is at the center of some outlandish rumors floating around the town, all stemming, it seems, from his public declaration that he had recently returned from Old Kurlew. Now to most folk it is just a mountain, and to many others it is simply a mysterious place to which no one ever goes for whatever reason. Ulwe and Draxim meet a number of folk who are absolutely convinced Old Kurlew is haunted, or that it is the home of a fire breathing reptile, or an ancient tomb filled with treasure. No one mentions anything about Koraeus, or the Pit of Slaeg Gnara, but many folk seem quite interested in this bald stranger and his outlandish claims to have been to the mountain, and returned to tell the tale.

Re: Separated...
Draxim tries to quiet these rumors, with "he was always a bit of a storyteller" and "He's rather given to zaggeration" or "Don't pay the old kook any mind. Next thing he'll tell you he's a freind of the giants" Draxim is well aware of the superstitious mindset of simple folk like himself and knows that ugly rumors can be as dangerous as a chillserpent.

Re: Separated...
"Draxim," Ulwe begins "It does not seem very wise to announce for all of Raven's Gate what you and your fellows encountered under the mountain. Why would he do such a brash thing? Surely there are servants of our Enemy in this large town. And if the mage has enemies why would he make himself so plainly known?"
Ulwe shakes his head and continues on the trail of Madragar the Mad.

Re: Separated...
"Well I'll ask him, though he may stomp off into trouble again. Let's pick up our pace Draxim and make sure Mad Madragar does not fall afoul of Raega or his agents if it is they who are responsible!"
Ulwe does not move faster than Draxim but keeps urging on his shorter legged companion.

Re: Separated...
Draxim and Ulwe make their way through the Citadel, down the dusty road out of town and into the cluster of buildings that surround the dock area. The place is thronged with red surcoated mercenaries boarding flat bottomed river vessels, presumably for the journey back up river to Pulyoke.
Draxim remembers Naeg and the House Ailus office back in Tunlura, so it is a simple matter to locate Raega's shop with its blue and white sign hanging above the door. The place is at the far eastern end of the dockyard and stands only a few feet from the water's edge.
Draxim and Ulwe approach and Draxim hazards a quick peek inside. Within he sees an overweight, rosy cheeked man in a stained leather apron (Ulwe confirms this to be Raega). He sits alone at a desk hunched over a wrinkled ledger, scribbling onto its time-worn pages.
Most notably, however, there is a loaded crossbow sitting on the desk within easy reach of the merchant. There is no sign of Madragar.

Re: Separated...
"Wherever there is wind or wave,
And one heart true and brave:
Orlanth knows be he Lord or Knave
A servant of light or a Chaos slave!"
Ulwe intones the rhyme and then concentrates in the direction of Raega.
