Re: The Battle of Potters Row
"For the last time, I -have- no secrets," insists Madragar, resisting any attempt to take the crossbow and apparently ready to pull the trigger if someone reaches for it.

Re: The Battle of Potters Row
Sangraal leans into the attacks with all of what remains of his strength, the first sailing wide to the right of his adversary. Dragging his flail off the ground the priest swings again, missing so badly he almost loses his balance.

"Finally," says Ruglan to Druuga, "I thought you were never going to stop talking."

Ruglan hacks at Druuga.

Re: The Battle of Potters Row
[Yea, forgot about Atan.]

With Atan's weight on his one good leg, and his sword gripped in his left hand, the elf makes a feeble swing at the oncoming thug but misses badly.

Ruglan decides to incapacitate the treacherous henchman quickly, and makes a savage jab at Druuga's sword arm. Unlike his old longsword, which would have pushed past his adversary's guard with such a strike, the razor-edged Ghurugil blade hits Druuga's shield and punches right through it, becoming stuck between the thick layers of hide and leather.

Druuga is just as surprised as Ruglan by this turn of events, but quickly twists his body back and to the left, wrenching the sword from the watchman's grasp.

Re: The Battle of Potters Row
Atan moves over to flank Ruglan, "Take my sword Ruglan!"

After handing off his sword he then moves over to Madragar and puts his left handon the highly prized crossbow, "Let me shoot that thing but I can't load it!", holding up his busted right hand for effect.

[I don't want to provoke an AoO and the PHB isn't definitive (it isn't covered) so when handing off the sword he will stay five feet back if necessary.]

Re: The Battle of Potters Row
"You are relentless," Madragar says. "Good."

He hands the loaded crossbow to Atan and begins to crawl away towards the nearest wall.

Re: The Battle of Potters Row
Atan hands his sword off to Ruglan, who manages not to drop it during the exchange. [Atan is currently directly to the west of Ruglan].

Draxim levels a mighty swing at the thug trying to dash his brains to the cobblestones, but his target leaps backwards out of his reach. For a moment the lines seperate as both Druuga and his cronies seem reluctant to stay engaged with the sharp, swinging steel of Ruglan and Draxim. A few tentative jabs are made, but nothing connects.

[Sheesh, what a whiff-fest...]

The map hasn't changed appreciably, round 2 begins.

Re: The Battle of Potters Row
Atan crouches and stays near Madragar, "I need your help reloading."

[Not sure if I have done too much for my turn. If I can I want to shoot someone...in the back.]

[Map isn't working for me]

Re: The Battle of Hairy Potters Row
Tensing for a strike Sangraal eyes the thug (2) looking for an opening. Sensing the momentary hesitation in the battle line Sangraal lashes out in a vain attempt.

[OOC: attack thug 2 with Hvy Flail: +3 to hit ( - spell), 1d10 +3 dam ( - spell), crit 19-20.]

Re: The Battle of Hairy Potters Row
[Oh, new round]

Remembering the painful beating he took at the hands of those cudgel weilding mercenaries, Atan levels the borrowed crossbow at the thug backing away from Sangraal.

[Thug #2 +5 to hit (-4 shooting into melee)]

Re: The Battle of Hairy Potters Row
The twang of the release causes Sangraal to flinch. The involentary reaction of a childhood nightmare involving crossbow wielding spiders.

Re: The Battle of Hairy Potters Row
Atan limps sideways to get a better shot on the thug while Sangraal hefts his flail for another swing.

[Keen-eyed Atan has no modifier for firing into combat, but Sangraal is providing the thug with some cover.]

Sangraal's brain commands his arms to bring his flail down onto his adversary's head, but there is no response. His exhausted limbs tremble for a second, then buckle under the weight of the massive weapon. Flail and priest both drop onto the stony street with a clang, Sangraal staring up at the brute, panting heavily.

The thug looms over the downed priest, raising his cudgel to strike, but stops cold. The oaken shaft falls to the ground, bouncing noisily, followed swiftly by the callous henchman, a crossbow bolt buried in his forehead.

Ruglan, seeing the shock of his opponent at the sudden appearance of a bolt sticking in the forehead of his accomplice, makes a strike at Druuga.

Your problem is you have an arrow in your head.....
Turning on his side Sangraal gives Atan a cheerful smile of relief.

[OOC: WooWoo! nice shot!]

Re: Your problem is you have an arrow in your head.....
Ruglan, wielding Atan's fine-but-not-quite-as-fine-as-his-own blade, pummels Druuga repeatedly with a series of brutal slashes and strikes. The cunning mercenary blocks each and every strike, until a clever feight draws Ruglan's sword across his thigh. Druuga growls in pain and anger as blood slinks down his leg.

Draxim leaps forward as well, smashing through the thug's feeble defense and burying his axe in the man's abdomen. He doubles over, blood running in thick gobbets from mouth and gut, until a rough kick from the dwarf sends the thug rolling into the shadows.

Re: Your problem is you have an arrow in your head.....
Madragar, unarmed and unable to rise, sinks slowly to the ground and finally passes out in a surprisingly comfortable swath of mud. Atan turns back to the unconscious mage with hopes of having help reloading the crossbow, but discovering the futility of the exercise raises the weapon above his head as an improvised club.

Druuga doesn't seem to notice Atan or the fierce look in his eye, but presented with the gleaming steel of Ruglan and Draxim the henchman pauses. For a split second Druuga moves forward as if to wade into the group, his heavy mace swinging. Instead the mercenary hurls his shield (with Ruglan's blade still stuck through it) at the belligerant pair, turns on his heel, and dives down the alleyway. The rapid footsteps of his flight echo down the shadowy passage.
