Re: Its a Good Morning
The stranger, who still stands by the fire, regards Ulwe and the gaping hole in his armor with interest. He is a human of perhaps twenty winters, tall and lean with long hair of a brown so deep it appears black in the firelight. A weather worn face with gleaming green eyes peeks out from behind a copious beard and bushy eyebrows. His clothes are simple with the muddy stains of rough travel on them, his cloak and pack hang from a peg beside the fire. Ulwe notices a sturdy bow nearby and surmises the stranger is some sort of woodsman, perhaps a trapper or hunter.
The man's eyes survey Ulwe, and without smiling he extends a hand. "I am called Kaleb, Grovewarden. Our meeting is well, though my news is ill," he concludes in well-practiced elvish.
"Is that one there called Sangraal?" he asks, gesturing towards the priest. "I have word of Irian Aros, and it is this message that has brought me here."

Meesage for you sir.
"I am" Sangraal utters in reply to the woodmen.
Easing his pack and weapon to the floor Sangraal advances across the hall to the green eyed stanger. "What is this meesage you bear?" he asks, his voice guarded.

Re: Meesage for you sir.
"Irian Aros is dead," Kaleb says flatly. "He took his own life before sunset last night at our camp beside the river."
The woodsman takes a deep breath, staring back at Ulwe and Sangraal as the pair stand speechless. Sangraal in particular seems stunned by the news.
"Fires rose from within the walls of this town when Irian returned to camp, four days ago now. He was injured... pale and sickly like I had never seen him. He said that a shadow had come upon him that night and he struggled with it for dominion over his soul."
Kaleb pauses, taking several deep breaths. He is clearly unsettled by his own tale, but if he ever mourned Irian Aros those tears have been shed already.
"He was my friend, and for three days I watched him suffer in agony. At last he chose to take his own life than let the beast claim him."
The woodsman pauses again.
"I buried him this morning."

Re: Meesage for you sir.
"May he walk in the light" Sangraal says reverently. "I was told he was a Brother of the Dawn? and did Irian speak at length about the demon that attacked him? It seems many strange events have happened these past days."

Re: Meesage for you sir.
When Kaleb tells the unfortunate tale of Irian Aros, Ulwe's face betrays his shock and horror.
The taking of one's own life in his society is unheard of as the Elves of Shei Hythriad love their long lives, and consider it a great sin to commit suicide. The horror of possession clearly inconcievable to him, Ulwe shakes his head mournfully.
He bows his his head and brings his hands up in prayer.
After Sangraal utters "May he walk in the light..." Ulwe looks up and nods his head
"Aye, may his anguish be forever solaced."

Re: Meesage for you sir.
"He was, Sangraal. He spoke rarely of the Brotherhood, but wore the same white plaid you do now. There is something else," Kaleb whispers, and looks suspiciously at the dwarves who are growing more and more interested in what this stranger has to say.
"But I hesitate to... this may not be the time."

"Now I know that you wouldn't want to insult the hospitality of these good folk by suggesting that you can't trust them," whispers Draxim to Kaleb seriously. "The deeds of the Ghurugil against the forces of Chaos should speak for themselves. The day they betray a guest's trust I shall behead myself." he adds oh, so subtly.

Kaleb gives Draxim a look that says 'Who the hell are the Ghurugil and who the hell are you?' then glances back at Sangraal, waiting for the priest to make the decision.

Re: Meesage for you sir.
"His name is Draxim a noble friend, much like you were to Irian I imagine." Sangraal states flatly " And he speaks the truth of his soot covered Breathern. It is the house of the Ghurugil in which you stand, a Hall to Urox."
Steping forward Sangraal attempts to place a consoling hand upon Kalebs shoulder, a friendly jesture. " The loss of a close friend is inconsolable, as we all know. But I trust these who saved my life, with my life. Your words are safe spoken in their presence."
[OOC: Diplomacy +3: Sangraal tries to convince Kaleb that all in this hall are trustworthy]

Draxim shuffles a bit, uncomfortable at being referred to as "noble". His father would have cuffed him had he refferred to himself that way.

Atan's brightened mood is rapidly extinguished at the news of his one-time benefactor's death. "We are beleaguered by shadow", he says quietly with a shake of his head.
