Re: Burnination.
"Come on Mad, keep backing up. Good you guys, protect him. Mad do you need to see the target to maintain the effect?" he says as he watchs the dwarven bard run off into the room.

Seeing the angle of any potential shot could miss and awake the Emperor, Atan slings his bow and draws his long sword. Holding the mastercraft weapon with both hands, "Pogar stay here by me but let Mad pass through. Get ready."

[Atan holds his action, attack what ever summoned thing gets in range, +9/1d8+5]

Pogar
Once Madragar is inside the door, Pogar is quite pleased to serve as the first wall of defense.

Slowly I turned...step by step...
"No," replies Madragar, sweat dripping from his furrowed brow. "But not being able to see him may cause me surprises that could break my concentration."

The wizard moves slowly to where he is directed, never taking his eyes off the emperor.

Janes isn't sure what to do, so he'll stay with Theony and Ulwe, but with keep his crossbow trained on the summoning circle.

"Hey Sangraal, do you think Yelm would be so pleased as to put some flesh back on my calves?" asks a clearly hurting Draxim through clenched teeth.

[Note that I didn't realize how badly Draxim was wounded when I made my last move even though I had asked. If I had, Draxim would have stayed put and drank his Cure Moderate potion (silver flask)]

Grabbing his healing kit fromt he pile he stuff it into the now empty pack along with all the remaining healing potions. Handing the pack to Janes, "Here Janes, since you seem fleet of feet. You are Hroldi for the day. Hang back and use your crossbow. Be ready to give these out to those who need it."

[That was the post where Janes got a 3 of the cure light potions.]

"Janes!" Ulwe calls out, wincing in pain from the arrow in his side.
"Gather the javelins, I'll cover Madragar with my spear. Theony is ok for now."

Then Ulwe moves with long strides to stand with the knot of Moagaran and Ghuraskalli champions of the Light, protecting the wizard, who for now holds the fate of them all in his bald, sweay head.

[I'm lost... Ulwe wants to end his move next to Madragar, or thereabouts. p.s. pls remember his AoO's (up to 4) ]

New arrival.
There is lots of hustling and bustling about the ruined main hall as the warriors get into position. Madragar (who waited to be led out of the room, but no one volunteered) slowly backs through the partially open double doors and gets to the other side of Atan and Pogar. Kyethe perches on his shoulder, warning him of any obstacles that might break his concentration.

Draxim sidles up to Sangraal who produces a time-worn (and quite valuable) scroll and reads from it. Scintillating light pours from the priest's outstretched hand and courses through the dwarf's body. His numerous wounds quickly close and Draxim is soon left with only a slight feeling of weariness.

[Did you know that if you cast a spell that's of a higher level than you can normally cast that it has a chance of failing, or even backfiring? It hasn't happened yet, but it will eventually.]

As Ulwe runs southeast to where Madragar and the others are positioned, Janes moves to join him, retrieving both javelins on the way.

Iron Horn Utama Amaranth Unfolding Watcher of the West continues to work on the apparatus. Uncoiling a bundle of grotesque leather tubing he makes a variety of connections between different points on the machine. The process is totally incomprehensible to anyone that cared to watch it.

Finally, the hemisphere of fiery brilliance vanishes revealing a hideous crimson snake-creature, its appearance accompanied by a wave of heat that washes over Draxim and Sangraal as if someone had thrown open a furnace door.

With the torso of a human, though much broader and more muscled than any normal man, but the lower body of a snake, the thing's shimmering red skin flickers with motes of fire. Its bestial head is a paragon of fury with a snarling mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and eyes that glow like open volcanos. Clutched in its powerful hands, each finger tipped with a black talon, is a ten foot long spear of gleaming copper.

The abomination scans its surroundings for a moment and bellows "sshhhraeeeelaa yrruuuulshaa!" There is no answer to its unintelligible challenge, but a moment later the creature's head snaps around and fixes its burning eyes on Madragar.

Khelzhad, poised to shoot at whatever emerged from the summoning circle, is stunned by the horror of the bizarre and terrible monster that suddenly appeared before him. He fires, but his aim is well off.

With one powerful undulation the creature pushes its way southward, trying to reach the meddlesome wizard without going straight through Sangraal and Draxim. With a flick of its wrist the blazing copper spear lashes out and catches Sangraal in the chest. The priest's armor absorbs the worst of the blow, but the bone-crushing impact, and the heat emanating from the weapon itself, knocks the wind from his lungs.

[Madragar and Pogar are moderately wounded.
Draxim is lightly wounded.
Sangraal is seriously wounded.]

Map.

Re: New arrival.
Ulwe takes a step forward. and though overmatched, engages in a spear duel with the beyonder.

[5' NE, attacks the snake-man with the Longspear of Kurigalos. +1 str, +2 level, +? magic to hit D8 +1 str, +? magic damage ]

[I noticed Ulwe was not wounded on your list, was the arrow from Atan a hallucination? ]

[You're right. I usually write HP loss in red ink on my shit list and missed Ulwe's wound. He's lightly wounded, thanks to his Endurance spell. -GM]

2H sword $5...cool armor $40...demon from hell....Priceless
All the years spent in prayer and service to his lord Almighty, Yelm the Bringer, Father of All, could not prepare Sangraal for this one moment. A snapshot of time immortalized by storytellers and scribes, told to children and adults alike, a classic saga of good vs. evil. Sangraal was living it.

Steping forward with the confidence of a man fufilling his destiny Sangraal engages the abomination. Bleeding heavily Sangraal begins the rythmic chant so often recited by the warrior-priest in battle. A chant that distences himself from the pain and fear, a chant that draws him closer to who he serves. Yelm the Bringer.

With a vacuous woosh the two handed sword busts into flame as Sangraal thrusts it forward with all his strength.

[OOC: Sangraal steps 5 feet, 1 s and attacks #1.

2H sword +7 to hit, 2d6+ 1d6 +5 damage

Feat divine flame 1d6 divine damage, 2 rounds

Re: 2H sword $5...cool armor $40...demon from hell....Pricel
Ulwe steps up to engage the crimson snake-man, and meets its fiery stare. The creature watches the elf closely, noticing the unusal weapon in his grasp and gripping its spear with wicked familiarity. Ulwe is certain that this is no common beast, but a monster of keen intelligence and cunning. The two trade jabs for a moment, but Ulwe's thrusts are all easily parried.

Sangraal makes a quick step to the south and, with his glowing blade sheathed in divine flame, cuts a deep wound across the snake-man's back. Flame pours from the wound.

Re: 2H sword $5...cool armor $40...demon from hell....Pricel
Khelzhad slowly reloads his crossbow [4th bolt for this combat] as he concentrates on his allies fighting against the demon, and eases the burden of fear with some inspired verse of spoken word:

"Far we've come friends, but do not abate
for we must make amends,
this demon is but a Shadow's slave,
and we'll send it back again!"

[Inspire Courage: plus 1 to attack, plus one to Damage (unless Bless is still up - then just the damage) and bonuses to Will and vs. Fear.]

[Hasn't he done that twice already today? -GM]

[The last one was interrupted when he was knocked out. Since there was not enough time for him to complete it, I thought it was still available. If not, then the verse is just for effect and he will reload and shoot at the demon.]

Not a demon, technically...
Khelzhad draws a bead on the fiery creature, gently squeezes the trigger on his crossbow, but quickly pulls the weapon aside at the last moment. Draxim dodged into view just at the wrong moment, fouling his aim.

[He's got a clear view of his target but it's still -4 for shooting into combat.]

Pogar steps boldly forward, edging to the right in response to Draxim's instructions. Both dwarves close in on the writhing snake-man, who thinks better of lowering his guard while Sangraal is so near in order to stab at them as they enter spear range. Pogar and Draxim lay into the monster with everything they've got, but the thing's thick hide and wily defense is just too much for them.

[What do Atan and Janes do?]
