[does Atan have the shoot into combat feat?]

[Yes, but he's got his sword out right now. -GM]

Re: Not a demon, technically...
Atan darts behind Pogar as the dwarf advances against the demon. Sliding along the door he tries to get inside the demons spears and make his own two-handed attack.

[Move 1SE, 1E attack +11 (+9 w/out flank)/1d8 + 5]

Re: Not a demon, technically...
[Atan will have to be satisfied with a move due east since Pogar is in that spot, flanking the creature with Draxim.]

Janes simply can't negotiate the crowd of his comrades who are tripping over themselves trying to get into combat, so decides not to risk hitting anyone.

Atan advances to stand toe to tail with the creature and just manages to cut a shallow gash in the thing's chest. His enchanted blade seems effective at penetrating the tough hide of the flaming snake-man.

Recoiling in the face of the bristling hedgehog of bared steel that has suddenly confronted it, the serpent hisses. Its route to Madragar blocked, the thing turns on Sangraal and his blade of hateful holy combustion. With one blindingly fast movement the creature turns and retreats, and in the process brings its massive tail crashing down on Sangraal's head. The priest's helmet simply splits into two pieces. Blood gushes from his head and his face and neck become blackened by the intense heat emanating from the monster's flesh. Sangraal hits the ground, unconscious.

Wheeling around, the enflamed copper spear lashes out and tears a ragged chunk out of Atan's thigh. The elf cries out in shock at the intense pain of the wound but remains standing. A second quick thrust is directed at Draxim but the tough dwarf sees it coming and knocks the spear aside with his axe.

[Madragar, Atan and Pogar are moderately wounded.
Draxim and ulwe are lightly wounded.
Sangraal is in negative land.]

Re: The Cairnhollow, Part VI
Denied a decent window for shooting, Kelzhad places the loaded crossbow on the ground and readies his close combat weapons.

Grimmacing in pain (which actually improves his looks), Pogar turns the corner and attempts to chop off the serpent-man's tail.

[Pogar moves 1 E and attacks with his battleaxe]

Re: The Cairnhollow, Part VI
Atan steps forward to cover the fallen Sangraal, his blade slashing away furiously at the serpent demon. "Janes! Sangraal is down!", he yells to the potion bearer.

[move 1E, attack +9/1d8+5]

Re: The Cairnhollow, Part VI
Atan and Pogar charge into the fiery abomination, their blades flashing. The snake-man is wary, however, and quick. With a series of deft parries, and confidence in the resilience of its skin in the face of mortal steel, the creature emerges unharmed.

Man Down!!
Janes sprints over to Sangraal digging for a potion out of his satchel as he goes [ looks like I have to take a full move to get there, unless it would make more sense to move 30 ft and get the potion out as a move equivilent so I can 5ft to him next round ].

[I count exactly 30' to reach Sangraal. -GM]

If that is the case then Janes will run forward and feed Sangraal a cure potion.

Re: Man Down!!
[Janes now, in addition to carrying 3 potions of cure light is also carrying 2 enchanted javelins FYI ]

[And a magic shortsword, too. Quick, Janes, run away with all their magic crap!]

Ulwe steps east and switches to high-guard. Holding his spear above his head, he fights over Pogar to attack the summoned demon from the beyond.

[+3 to hit, +? magic -4 cover (fighting over Pogar) D8 +1, +? magic bonus]

[What I wouldn't give for a Protection from Chaos spell! ]

Re: Man Down!!
"Fire!" Sangraal shouts as he comes to, the healing liquid of Janes' potion filling his stomach. The priest groggily gets up and retrieves his greatsword.

[I'm not sure which kind of potion Janes intended to use, so I rolled randomly... Cure Light.

If you use one of the items on the Keeping Track list in the General Discussion forum, reply to that thread with the details.]

Ulwe makes several tentative jabs at the creature but misses badly.

Madragar (presumably) continues to concentrate.

[Draxim]

Re: Man Down!!
[I'll go out on a limb and say Draxim takes a 5' step and attacks.]

His axe shining with the crimson enchantment of the bladesharp oil, Draxim hacks mercilessly into the side of the snake-man. The creature howls in agony as the heavy axe cuts through bone and tissue, the wound spraying fire and smoke as well as blood. Its copper spear clatters to the ground as the abomination writhes in its death throes.

The beast is, however, still a danger and with one spiteful spasm the thing's tail smashes against Draxim's legs, nearly knocking the stout dwarf to the ground. His knees aching, Draxim quickly regains his balance.

The heat in the main hall rises another several degrees as a summoning circle crackles into life just a few feet away from Sangraal and Janes, fire and dazzling orange light flaring within the glowing hemisphere.

[Madragar, Draxim and Pogar are moderately wounded.
Ulwe is lightly wounded.
Sangraal is seriously wounded.]

Re: Man Down!!
[Is Jason still MIA? If so, Pogar slides along the wall, 5 feet South East, to flank the demonic snake creature with Draxim, whereupon he hacks at the dying beast with typical gusto. ]

[If the above is allowed, Ulwe attacks the beast at +3, +? magic D8 +1, +? magic without pogar being in the way. If Pogar cannot move (not sure about half squares) then Ulwe will attack with the above modifiers and a -4 cover for the beast.]

[Can one attack, and then move? If so would Ulwe draw an AoO after attacking by backing up 5' after his attack?, If not he does just that.]

Re: Man Down!!
[A half square is enough to fight in, so Pogar can make that move.

You can move before or after you attack, and a 5' step never provokes an AoO]

Pogar quickly steps forward to flank the dying creature but its violent thrashing keeps the dwarf at bay. Ulwe, however, has a clear shot on the prone snake-man and drives his black iron spear into its abdomen. Pinned to the stone floor the mass of crimson muscle corkscews around the cruel weapon like a worm on a hook until it finally exhales its last. In a flash the thing disappears, leaving behind only a greyish residue and the faint smell of brimstone.

Man Alive.....!!
Running a hand through his blood matted hair Sangraal winces at the large knot forming on his forehead and spares a glance at his helm cleaved cleanly in two. Stepping carefully around Janes he nodds a unspoken thank you and leans heavily against the door. Producing his last silver vial Sangraal tosses it back and grimices at the bitter aftertaste.

[OOC: Sangraal moves 2 W and covers the doorway. Then he drinks a potion of cure moderate

How long does the oil last on the 2 H sword?]

Khelzhad sheathes his sword and takes a knee, letting his round shield rest against his leg as picks up the (still loaded) light cross bow and aims at the vortex.

Re: Man Alive.....!!
Draxim and Sangraal both guzzle down healing potions. While the rakish dwarf completely erases the damage his legs received from the snake-man's last attack, Sangraal still feels awful.

[Atan, Janes, Madragar]
