Re: Math time!
As Draxim begin moving tables and chairs over to the doors, Atan peers through gaps in the portal's twisted metal.

"It's just sitting there," he observes of the basalt monument. Then, noticing a subtle reduction in the amount of light in the chamber, he turns his attention to Zulquerzarhen and the flaming scepter in his motionless grip. Irigaal, it seems, is begining to dim.

Re: Math time!
"Yes, Ulwe revive her. Its seems to be our only option at this point." Sangraal acquiesces. Backing away from the sealed door Sangraal takes a moment to evaluate the situation.

"Utama, why is the light of Irigaal failing?"

Re: Math time!

Ulwe intones an unfamiliar but potent prayer over the bloodstained body of Theony. The twin wounds in her shoulders close and the sparkle of consciousness returns to her eyes. Slowly, the young shieldmaiden sits up and swings her legs to one side, her leather boots dangling several inches from the floor.

Utama has turned back to face the damaged apparatus. To Sangraal's question he merely shrugs.

"Janes speak with Theony, I know she hated this infernal machine and probably dispises it now but we need she to give her blood willingly."
Sangraal moves over to explain the situation to Theony and what it requires.

[OOC: Janes use your diplomancy skill to convince her. Sangraal will help you for a synergy bonus is applicable.

[D. stole my herioc thunder.]

Atan plucks a javelin from the hands of Janes as he sprints back inside the door and safety. "Thanks."

Atan decides to stay put, peeking through the crack in the doors to keep an eye on what goes on outside. Hearing the debate about Theony, "Just tell her it will kill Irigaal. That will be enough."

Khelzhad offers his meager assistance and otherwise joins Janes and Ulwe at Theony's side.

Pogar waits near the door and Listens for activity on the other side.

Pogar will stick by the door and try to listen, as well as peek through the cracks. If he does have a clear view, Pogar will examine the statue and see if he notices anything unusual with the statue.

[Dont know if stonecunning would work in this area, but thats the route Im taking. If not then he will just watch it to see if it moves. He is trying to see if he can notice any cracks or possible weak spots on this creature, if a fight ensues..... (oh by the way, Im back :])]

"Foul...thought..." mutters Madragar, backing towards Utama. "The demon may possess that thing. Guard Utama...all costs."

"Anybody with healing you should use it now.", calls out the elf who is intent on watching through the crack in the door while fending off Pogar. Whom seems intent to occupy the same space as Atan.

[Atan will call out to the party whatever he sees happen in the far room. If the stone creature charges the door he will move to the southern (right hand side) side of the door on the eastern wall. He will move to attack if the creature gets through (+9/1d8+5)]

Re: I could rig a trip wire that would collapse the furnitur
Noticing the uncomfortable Atan trying to do his business, Pogar will, after he gets a decent look at the stone creature, will back off a bit, looking for a good place to present some type of attack, if neccessary.

Good Cop
"Give her a moment for pity's sake." Says Ulwe as he shields the girl from the excited Sangraal and Janes. Standing by the sword-maiden's side offers her his arm to help her from the table.

Though he too is gripped with urgency, Ulwe tries his best to be reassuring to Theony. "M'lady, what they say is true. We need your help yet once again. I know you have suffered much, but we need you, Moagara needs you."

You so crazy
"I most certianly will not ask her to give up her blood, even in the noblest of causes! Don't you think there is enough pooled on this table for your needs? Do you see any need for her to suffer more than she already has?" Janes then turns away from Sangraal in disgust.

One more card to play.
[Several rounds pass.]

Atan and Pogar, peering through different cracks in the warped surface of the door, see no movement among the pile of basalt. The light emanating from Irigaal, still clutched in Zulquerzarhen's grasp, continues to wane.

Theony, ignoring Ulwe, slowly slides down off of the table and walks toward the short corridor leading out of the chamber. There Draxim is busy piling up heavy tables against the portal. Noticing Theony's presence, the dwarf turns to see that the young lady is staring somberly down at the ground. It is then that Draxim discovers the much abused corpse of Chandra, apparently forgotten by the companions, crumpled between the legs of a wooden chair.

Draxim grimaces with embarrassment at having treated the dead so carelessly, then rushes to correct the problem. The chair is put aside and Chandra's body laid a short distance from the growing barricade. There Theony drops to her knees and sits silently.

"It's moving!" Atan and Pogar exclaim in unison. The chiselled pile of basalt, firelight flickering with the depths of the pile, shifts slightly. Then, with ponderous slowness, the mound of sculpture expands and rises forming a distinct humanoid shape. Fire bursts outward from within the segmented statue, filling the gaps between hand and arm, arm and shoulder, neck, waist, knees, and every joint in fact. The statue continues to rise, its expressionless face marked only by a pair of eyes glowing like twin furnaces. Up and up the monument of black stone extends until, standing almost twenty feet tall, the juggernaught, with fire rolling from every joint, spreads its arms wide in a gesture of freedom and triumph. The light in the chamber, and throughout the Cairnhollow as well, grows more and more dim.

[Round sixteen. Go.]

Diplomacy with Theony
Sangraal looks at Janes and lowers his voice, "Utama said it needed to be willingly given. The blood split on that table does not meet the criteria. I was hoping that being closer to her and a familiar face you could alivate any concern on her part."

Leaving Janes side, Sangraal approaches Theony.

"My lady, Irigaal is threatening to break free. Utama believes he can bind the demon again but requires a willing gift of blood from you. I am sorry for your loss and understand your loathing of the machine and prophecy that has held you bound to this sunless world as both guardian and slave. This one last thing is asked of you and then I swear if needed I will bear forth the weight of gaurdianship for all eternity." The sun priest looks Theony in the eyes searching for some form of acknowledgement.

Re: Diplomacy with Theony
Bathed in the flickering glow emanating from the orb and the bizarre orange electricity arcing across the face of the apparatus, Theony doesn't appear to hear Sangraal's plea. She seems to be mumbling something to herself, long strands of auburn hair, stained with sweat and blood, covering her face.

Outside, the basalt monstrosity flexes its fingers, fire dancing between each rod of black stone. Its expression is inscrutible, but the thing seems satisfied... content. Its almost placid stance does not last, however, and in four massive strides the juggernaught crosses the main hall of the fortress and throws itself against the iron doors.

BOOM! The concussion echoes through the experiment room. Atan and Pogar tumble backward in their shock at the unnatural speed of the statue. Nothing that large should move that fast.

BOOM! One mighty stone fist slams against the magically locked door, pushing a massive dent into its surface but not breaching the portal. Tables and chairs tremble within the barricade.

[Round seventeen. Go.]
