Re: Road Trip
"But how did you awake before us Theony? We were all engulfed, but it seems only your were not taken by the.....Hygurae? Why don't we have recollection of them?"

Re: Road Trip
"I don't know why I returned before you," Theony shakes her head before taking another swig.

"And I don't know how the Hyrgurae figure into all this. My mother learned a little from a shaman of the Kulbrae tribe, and what I understand of this mystery is only what she told me."

"The Hyrgurae do not exist, at least not as our people remember them. When the horse tribes came to this land we did not drive the native people out, to take ship and sail across the sea. Some potent charm was conjured, an enchantment of seemingly infinite reach, to make our ancestors believe that the Hyrgurae were gone. Even the name itself, Hyrgurae, was invented as part of the illusion. They have no name that I know."

"The green fire of the Orb," Theony's face contorts in concentration as she tries to remember the story. "Or Orbs I suppose, destroys flesh and recreates it, or something like that. Those that return are no longer under Their spell. It is a very powerful charm, for no one can even speak of Them without such knowledge immediately fleeing from their minds. Write of Them and the words will be nothing but gibberish. I-"

Theony stops as a young boy, one of the Hyrl villagers, enters the tent to deposit fresh bread. The lad quickly retreats.

The lady continues, whispering. "To challenge the charm is to alert Them to the knowledge you possess. So you must avoid speaking of Them to those who do not have the ears to hear of it. I do not know the extent of Their power, and for now I do not want to find out. We have troubles enough without poking that hornets nest."

Re: Road Trip
"So how does the Emporer fit into this? Why was his apperatus contrusted with such a charm?" Sangraal looks even more perplexed, some would say lost.
"What happened to the demon Irigaal?"

Re: Road Trip
Theony stares at Sangraal with a puzzled look, momentarily hoping his questions were rhetorical.

"Honestly Dawnbrother, I have no idea."

"So if we was to see one of THEM, what would them...they look like?"

[What was the total damage to our rations since we awoke?]

Pogar happily grabs a mug of wine and quickly downs the first glass, seeking for more. Pogar doesnt seem too interested in the conversation, but notes that his cousin is silently consuming all that he can.

To Draxim, Theony merely shrugs.

At this, Madragar nods sagely to himself.

"I think I begin to see more clearly the shape of something that has puzzled me for many months. Yet it is but the shadow of the truth, cast upon a screen. And by a dim lamp."

"He that created the orb intended that we...or someone like us...discover that truth. But to what purpose I cannot be certain. I would dearly like to know more about the yellow-eyed stranger who visited Theony's grandfather that night."

Theony's council
The priest of Orlanth shuns the tasty beverage the others enjoy. He instead fills his cup with water, as usual. Nor does he avail himself of a warm place by the fire. The stoic elf stands by the doorflap, with his spear and shield resting nearby. He nods in agreement with Theony as she states her reluctance to stir up the hornet's nest of the Hyrguran mystery "In due time. Though Utama had warned about gaining new and powerful enemies, I suppose he meant the breaking of the veil."
Ulwe does however takes some small comfort in Theony's explanation of the miraculous reappearance of the party. "Humakt's Oath is final, and it never seemed right we cheated him. This orb somehow had borne us away only to return us later to the same spot. But whence had we journeyed?. Why no recollection? And what then came of, our foe?" He wonders aloud. Shrugging at great unknowns, Ulwe bows his head and again says: "In due time."

Shaking his head of the metaphysical and existential conundrums rattling around inside, Ulwe then speaks to Sangraal. "Dawn-brother, let us go and see to our companion. The Brooslayer needs our aid."

Them?
"Am I the only one that doesn't understand any of this?"

"Theony, I am deeply happy to see that you still live, and am just as happy that I also live, but I have been dragged in your families shadow into the depths of things that I have no understanding of at all. I have always done all that you asked, without question and with alacrity, but I feel that I deserve an explaination. Too much has happened for me to remain content as your servant. If you wish me as an allie or even as a servant I feel that I need to know what's going on."

Re: Them?
"An explanation of what, Janes?" Theony shoots the young man a harsh look. "I don't have any answers, and I don't want you as a servant. If you desire an explanation then go, seek it, you will not find it here. My mother knew much more than I, but she's dead now."

A long, uncomfortable silence follows.

Re: Theony's council
"Aye, Ulwe there is much we need to attend to. Ruglan being the first."

Sangraal lets Ulwe led the way to Ruglans tent. Once there the Sun priest sees what he can do to revive the town guardsmen.

Ruglan
Ulwe and Sangraal, with the aid of one of Theony's Olmani guards, find Ruglan in a square tent almost adjacent to the main tent. Laying on a pile of sheepskins, Ruglan has been stripped to his skivvies. Despite the pile of wool blankets on top of him, the unconscious watchman occasionally shivers. He is pale, and his hair and beard are badly unkempt. Ruglan's equipment is neatly stacked nearby.

The large tent is subdivided by a canvas curtain, beyond which Ulwe and Sangraal can hear a quiet coversation. Ulwe peeks around the hanging divider and finds a heavy, four-wheeled wagon taking up nearly half of the entire tent. The conveyance is completely filled with six identical chests atop which a pair of Olmani tribesmen, armed and armored, sit eating a modest meal and chatting in their native tongue. They pause to look at Ulwe for a moment, nod, and go back to their business.

Re: Ruglan
Sangraal is one that puts his faith in the power of Yelm, rather than medicinal herbs and foul smelling brews.

[Sangraal's Heal skill is not so good.]

He looks over Ruglan but finds no obvious wounds. Sangraal can feel, however, that the watchman still bears a faint residue of Chaos - a parting gift from the possession of Urukavas.

G'night
Theony sighs deeply at the sight of the retreating Janes.

"Friends, I am suddenly very tired. Help yourselves to the hospitality of my camp. Your treasure is loaded onto a wagon in the same tent as your companion, Ruglan. Sleep here or take your lodging in the town as you like. Tomorrow I must go and dither over the price of feed for my horses."

Shoulders slumped, Theony drifts out of the tent through a side flap and into the cool twilight air.

[Your Title Here for $20]
Madragar turns to Atan. "Send Janes to me if he returns. I will do what I can to explain."

"In the meantime, this news of the Hyurgae is something that bears thought. I go to consult the books and scrolls I have collected. We should speak of this again when all are rested. As the lady warned, we should not speak of this to any outsider yet."

"For now, we need rest and a warm fire."

Re: Theony's council
Mystified Sangraal speaks with Ulwe on Ruglans condition and comes to the conclussion that one thing that could be tried is to utilize one of the last useful divine scrolls.
"When the spirit entered Ruglan it took its toll on him physicaly and spiritualy. Now weakened beyond the state of return his body and soul have become lost..."
Sangraal fumbles for the words as well as the bronze disk shaped scroll.

[OOC: Sangraal casts Lesser Restoration on Ruglan.

Its a long shot, but we have to try.]
