Re: Dobrug
During month 4, Pogar will travel to the different taverns and spend some time drinking but most importantly, Pogar will listen. He will try to over hear peoples conversations for anything that would pertain to the adventure he is on with his friends. He will listen for any tales of the lioness, any tales of his friends. If people come to him to talk, Pogar will talk only of his adventures below ground. He will try to disassociate himself from the rest of the group.
He feels that if he is not associated with the group, people might be a little less aprehensive of speaking with him. He will not ask any questions, just be a fly on the wall.
Also, he will travel unarmed, but a dagger that he will purchase and will hide upon himself.

Khelzad said:
Quote: During month 3, he works with Madragar to develop scrolls of aid [how much per scrolll?]
Aid is a Divine spell. Madragar can't cast that. The spell must be BOTH one that Madragar knows AND one that Khelzad could potentially learn. Thus, the following are the spells that Madragar can put on a scroll and which Khelzad could use:
1st Level -
Alarm
Animate Rope
Sleep
2nd Level -
Hypnotic Pattern
Mirror Image
Whispering Wind
Madragar will perfom the operation at cost for Khelzad, so the 1st level scrolls will cost 20 gp each and the 2nd level spells will cost 40 gp each. [Moagara does not use standard d20 costs for scrolls (and presumably, potions).]

With another Companion as guard, Khelzhad meets with Madragar as secretly as he can be, and brings him 200g for the production of scrolls (5 Alarm, 1 Dancing Rope, 1 Hypnotic Gaze & 1 Whisper Wind).

Re: Dobrug
It only takes a few days for Madragar to scribe all of Khelzhad's scrolls (they are all, in fact, written on palm-sized squares of leather, tooled and inked by the wizard's own hand).
The winter wears on, though the worst of it is over. Icy rain and snow gives way to cold rain and sleet, which has the unfortunate side effect of turning the frozen streets of Dobrug back into mud.
[If you haven't been keeping track of your lodging and stabling expenses through the winter, now would be a good time to do so.]
Through his numerous contacts in the town watch, Ruglan gets word that a pair of strangers have been asking around town for an elven Orlanth priest named Ulwe. They're staying at a small inn near the east gate called The Ram's Horn.

Re: Dobrug
Upon hearing that two strangers are looking for Ulwe, Pogar will go to the tavern and observe. He will get a drink or two and listen for these people who are lookign for Ulwe.
[Since Pogar is off sequestered with Madragar, he's likely to be the last to know. -GM]
[I figured that when Madragar and Pogar got back to Dobrug, he would split away from Madragar when Ulwe wanted to talk to him, so Pogar went his own direction. Thats why he would have gone to the taverns to hear rumors and such, but if you want him with Madragar, thats fine also.]
[You never left Dobrug, actually. That's fine though. Madragar's on his own. Mwahahaha!]

Mistrusting of the news lest they mean harm to Ulwe, Khelzhad's curiosity compels him to seek out the strangers for himself.

Just as news of the strange elves reaches Ruglan's ears, so does a tip that a lone elf has been poking around the south-side taverns for Ruglan, Draxim, and Sangraal.

Re: Dobrug
As word filters back to Ulwe, he can't help but wonder why the mysterious elves don't seek for an Orlanthian priest at the largest temple to Orlanth in Moagara. So he is continues to go about his daily routine at the shrine of the Aerendalen in the Locamyridra.

Re: Dobrug
As Ulwe remains in the Locamyrida, embracing ignorance, the two Ghuraskalli slosh through the mud to find a couple elves.
Khelzhad and Pogar, despite being from a tribe of nomadic, subterranean dwarves, blend in quite well into Moagaran society. The humans and elves of Dobrug can't tell the difference between a Ghuraskalli and the dwarves they're accustomed to seeing, and the Moagaran dwarves don't really care.
So, when Khelzhad and Pogar finally track down the two strangers their quarry don't think anything of the dwarves that sidle up at the next table to have a pint or two. The elves look haggard, as if they have travelled a long distance very quickly. While they watch, the two elves don't speak, but simply look furtively about - seeming to be both cautious and trying to maintain a low profile.
Once one gets up to fetch some stew, Khelzhad instantly recognizes the elf's armor as being of the same style as that of Ulwe.
[Pogar, Khelzhad.. What next?]
In the meantime, one of Ruglan's chums from the town watch (a scruffy young man of mixed heritage named Yurgi) swings by Janes' place and lets him know that the lone elf that's been seeking him out has been in town for a couple days. Yurgi relates some specifics on this strange elf and, after some cross examination, Ruglan determines that it is Atan. Soon the Merek Lek is led back to Janes' tavern.

Khelzhad tries to plays his cards close. Looking at the two, he cordially grabs their attention. "2 more Aerendalens, eh? It seems like there is a strong desire for travel among your folk." If they bite, Khelzhad will not divulge more info until he has at least heard their names.

Re: Dobrug
The two elves exchange concerned glances before one of them simply shrugs.
"Not Aerendalen, friend, just travellers."
Fortunately, Khelzhad is a particularly affable dwarf, and with a little small talk is able to gain some degree of trust from the pair. The elves, Erithwen and Domun, don't seem particularly comfortable in the large Moagaran town and are happy to see a friendly face, even that of a stranger. Khelzhad learns that the two are urgently seeking a companion of theirs (they mention the name Ulwe) that disappeared into the wilds in the autumn and had not been heard from since. The bard, despite his best efforts, could not get the elves to divulge even the slightest detail of what they want with Ulwe, only that they have an important message for him.

Re: Dobrug
Faced with the choice of delaying a seemingly urgent message or bringing ill upon the party, Khelzhad pauses as he considers. A quick glance at his cousin reminds Khelzhad that not only does he have help in case of trouble, and that they had themselves joined with the Companions with not much more introduction.
"Come close travelers", as he drops to a whisper. "It was not by accident that I happened notice your garb. Indeed, I have sought you out for I have met one Ulwe in my travels and may be able to help ye find him. Information is my trade, but this I will not sell for gold. Tell me why you seek him and I can tell you where to look."
Khelzhad tells Erithwen and Domun to meet him this night at Janes' pub if they are interested, and with a tip of the hat he downs his mug of ale and leaves with Pogar.

Re: Dobrug
That night the companions gather in "Janes' Place," presumably after having found Ulwe in the Locamyrida and notifying him as well. Janes' little tavern is finally ready for business as a number of trusted folk are found to do the common work: a couple of Ruglan's cousins and a small family of former tanners that spent the last several decades with Janes in the Fortress of Lead, and have lost everything since they disappeared into history.
Peering through the shutters, Ulwe spots Erithwen and Domun in an alley across the street, apparently trying to case the tavern. Ulwe recognizes them instantly as two of his fellow Grovewardens.
[Anyone that wants to be there can be. Anyone that doesn't, won't be.]

Re: Dobrug
Pogar, standing and watching Ulwe peer through the shutters will react to Ulwe's reaction of recognition. Pogar will move towards the door to intercept the two elves. Walking towards a table, Pogar leads the two strangers to a darkened corner.
"Ulwe will be here in a minute. You two wanna drink?" Pogar will get their orders and bring their drinks back to the table. Once Ulwe comes to the table, Pogar will move to a table near by, close enough to be able to help protect Ulwe if it came down to it, however, not close enough to over hear their conversation.
[The elves do not approach the tavern. Maybe they think it's a trap. -GM]

Re: Dobrug
Upon seeing the hesitancy of the elves, Pogar smiles. "I mean you no harm, I come on behalf of Ulwe. He will be down in a minute. Please enter and sit. I will gladly get you some drink or food, if you so choose." Pogar says, setting his demeanor as non threatening as possible. "It is wise to be cautious to strangers, but I give you my word as a dwarf, no harm will come of you." He adds as he steps to the side to offer them the door.
[The elves are "in an alley across the street" so can't hear what Pogar is saying. -GM]

Re: Dobrug
"What is Dobrug coming to when even Grovewardens skulk in the alleyways?" Calls Ulwe in Elven to his old friends Erithwen and Domun. He quickly crosses the street and ushers his friends into Janes' Place. Continuing in his native tongue he reassures his wary comrades "This place is safe, these people are my friends."
Ulwe looks on his comrades, the Grovewardens seem out of place in the filthy alley. Though they are his former companions, Ulwe feels a sepreateness from them. Their days of running together in the Braithvale with Lyssa seem like an age past; not the few short months ago it was.
Seeing their grim expressions and realizing how dire things would have to be for his woodland dwelling kin to be in Dobrug, Ulwe quickly asks "Joalla?"

Re: Dobrug
Erithwen and Domun stand for a moment near the entrance of the tavern, surveying its occupants. Their functional but decorative armor is well worn from years of travel and use. Their soaked hair hangs down in front of their faces in long strands, woolen cloaks drooping like willow trees.
Ulwe confidently declares the safety of Janes' tiny pub, but the two tall strangers continue to scan the room. Soon Ulwe realizes that they are not only searching with their eyes, but with their minds as well to glean the essence of those around them and seek for signs of Chaos.
"There are no safe places anymore, Ulwe," Domun finally speaks. "Not from here to the long curtain of the world."
Domun appears gripped with sorrow, and his hand clutches at the folds of his dripping cloak, knuckles white and shaking.
Erithwen eschews despair for anger. His face writhing, the elven tracker cannot articulate whatever battle is raging behind his eyes. Instead, Erithwen rips the pack from his back and hurls it into a corner with a tremendous crash before dropping into the closest chair.
The two elves seem to be finally releasing a terrible burden they have born for some time, though it isn't clear what is the source of their pain.

Re: Dobrug
Ulwe in his finery, staying in the austere yet safe and comfortable shrine, twinges with some guilt, while regarding his fellows' seemingly miserable state. He also admonishes himself silently for thinking first of his sister, and not of the needs of these two before him.
He watches the rage boiling inside Erithwen with dismay, but thinks better of speaking to the tracker.
Ulwe reaches out to Domun and places his steady hand upon a shivering shoulder.
"My friend, you are safe here for the moment, and among friends. "What has happened? Please tell me."
The priest's face betrays his dread as the fate of Joalla.
