Re: Dobrug
Yashai speaks without looking up from her glass of crimson wine.
"I'm not sure what you mean, Master Pogar."

Re: Dobrug
"Well," Pogar stammers, "Uhh, what is your collection of, I guess would be a better way of asking it."

"Ah," the Lioness sighs. "The unusual and rare, Master Pogar, is of keen interest to me. A love of craftsmanship flows in the veins of my people, much as it does in yours I'm sure. Witnessing the products of skillful artistry is a pleasure."

Ruglan asks Yashai, "Mistress, did any of the markings on the crown reveal any more of its history or purpose?"

Yashai shakes her head. "Not that I have been able to discern. At least, not yet."

Re: Dobrug
[Player's note: Madragar is not actually absent because he's busy - no inks, no scrolls. He is, in fact, writing another letter to Vala, even if it's too late in the year to send it.]
[He's absent because he is recognizable, and Druuga and the Gorgon are still out there somewhere. Yashai may not hold any ill will towards the PC's, but she might just sell them out for the coin...]

Re: Dobrug
With a slight hesitation, Pogar asks "Would it not be right to ask if I could see your collection? You are correct in what you said, about me having a like for good craftmenship"

Re: Dobrug
Yashai seems a little put off by Pogar's suggestion. "Perhaps if you brought me one of the stone disks I seek I could show you the others. I am jealous of my possessions, I admit."
Draxim looks up at Ruglan, Pogar and Ulwe, and nods. Janes gives the other seven sacks the once-over to ensure that they contain coins of gold and not sand or rocks or some other counterfeit.
"Well," Yashai intones. "It would seem that our business is concluded. I bid you good night."
Without another word raven-haired Yashai glides from the room, gold and silver embellishments shimmering along the tresses of her gown. The companions are shown to the door.

Re: Dobrug
After gleefully counting their coins back at the safehouse (Janes' place), Draxim chimes in.
"Ya know, those disks she was talking about... they rang a bell or two up in this old noggin. The watchtower, right? Sangraal said he and Kezib, may Yelm rest his soul, saw one holding the door shut to the shrine below. When we seen the door the next day, the disk was gone. Gulkhu took it I guess. I remember it, like it was yesterday..."
[Flashback sequence to The Tower thread of Chapter I.]
Quote: The double door is eight feet high and wide, and made of solid stone six inches thick. In the flickering firelight the intricate spiraling Lunar runes seem to move on their own. The two slabs have no obvious hinge mechanism but stand slightly ajar. A thin trail of the nauseating smoke drifts from the crack at the top of the door, up to the ceiling, and out the trapdoor. There is also a recessed, circular area in the center of the door about nine inches in diameter - one semicircle on each slab of stone. By Sangraal's descr iption, when the door was closed that depression was filled by a circular disk of light gray stone. The disk, however, is nowhere to be found.
"Think the disk she wants could be the same one or something? If it is... well... spooky!"

Re: Dobrug
"Hrmmm. I dunno, but Im startin to get a weary feelin about her. Usually, someone who collects something is more than willing to show their stuff, to someone who seems to be interested in it themselves. I do think we got rid of something that would eventually caused us more problems than not, but Ima startin to think we sold it to the wrong person. Dont be surprised if we meet her again." Pogar states, to no one in particular.

Re: Dobrug
[8000 gold! Each person's share is 888 gold 8 silver 8 copper.
Madragar requested 50 gold per person to defray ink costs. So each person gets 838 gold, 8 silver 8 copper. Except for Madragar who gets 1288 gold 8 silver 8 copper.]
Ulwe fetches Madragar to divide the loot back at Janes'.
At once the mage gives Ulwe a look which immediately reminds Ulwe that the group forgot the mage's request.
"I am sorry to have forgotten your request. Let's return to the tavern. There we can figure out how to get your inks."
Once the group settles around the old warn long table in the old tavern, and the shares are doled out, Ulwe asks Madragar, "Perhaps Khelzhad could return with some of us to negotiate a sale for your inks. Could you write a list of what you need?"
"What do you make of her interest in those Lunar stones?" he asks Madragar. "I am beginning to agree with Pogar. I'm not sure she is to be trusted."

Re: Dobrug
Glumly, Madragar writes down his need in ordinary ink.
"Without a doubt, Mistress Yashai is more than a mere collector. And we are right to be cautious. Orlanth said that it would be good to sell the crown, but now that I have had the time to ponder, I seem to recall my master saying that such an orison peers but a little space of time into the fabric of the future. Great woe may yet befall from the sale of that particular piece of headgear. Or not. I know not what to make of her interest in the sealing stones, though like Pogar, I am wary."
"Yet what is done is done. We were not blinded by greed so much as by ignorance. I would that those of our company with the talent to do so would go among the folk of Dobrug and seek out knowledge of this Lioness, yet do so in a way that word of it shall not go flooding back to her ears. Subtle questioning, here and there. We must begin to be masters of our craft."
"As to the inks, it will not take a genius to understand that you have a wizard among you, nor to guess which one. The tale of the Cairnhollow will not be long in making the rounds. And soon after, the killing will start. The Gorgon's reach grows long, indeed. I must leave. I must find a place to remain for the winter where, once the inks are delivered, none of our company must go until the time is right to move on. You, I know, will see the wisdom in this."
"There is something I have not said, for it is yet too early to act upon it. But so that the knowledge may not die with me, I tell you. My master lives. I know not where or in what condition, but he lives. The wards of the Tower of the Mist are in full force, and this can only be while he is among the living. So he is alive and not in the grasp of the Gorgon. Yet something has befallen him. At the snowmelt, we must find him, Ulwe. Edrigan the Golden is a great champion against the Shadow."

Re: Dobrug
The next day a small delegation approaches Yashai's abode in order to haggle for some of Madragar's precious inks. The Lioness meets with them, and seems a bit amused that they are back so soon.
In the end, however, she seems amiable and agrees to share her supply with the companions, who quickly hustle back to Madragar with the inks and special ingredients.
[Yashai sells Madragar whatever inks he needs at the market price.]
[So, month #2. What do you do?]

Re: Dobrug
"I could do one of two things." Pogar starts. "I could travel with Anorre" using the fake name as precaution of someone possibly listening in on the conversation "and see if I could help him in anyway, and serve as somewhat of a guard for him, or I can stick around here and help out at the tavern and continue on with my 'job'. I think one of us should look into the impressions of the crown, which I could do, maybe. But I do think that it would be easier for one of the priests to do, as a dirty dwarf asking about such a thing would seem out of place."

Ruglan will start (month #2) by asking some of the people he knows about what the Lioness has been up to and any rumors that may relate to her.

Re: Dobrug
"Ruglan, Pogar", Madragar asks themin an aside. "I need to remove myself from this place and find a place of security. Too much has happened to hope that Druuga and the Gorgon will not find me here. For the safety of all, I would be away. Can you help me find such a place, Ruglan?"
"And you, Pogar. If you have the time, I would be most willing to have the protection of your axe. And, were I to need a strange component for my scrolls from time to time, it occurs to me that fewer people would question the need for such items if assured they were necessary to a 'dwarven craftsman'."

Re: Dobrug
"I be yer dwarven craftsmen then." Pogar states with a smile.
"Cousin" Pogar calls to Khelzhad and presents him with the Grinning sword. "I feel that this item might be a bit more useful in yer hands than in mine. If you so choose to take it, I bear it in your hands."
[It has been in his item list, but I feel that it would not find too much use within Khelzhad's hands]

Re: Dobrug
"A fierce weapon as that would be handy for a bodyguard." Mentions Ulwe at the offer of the magic weapon. "You should keep it."
Ulwe then makes a copy of Janes' rubbing from the crown.
"I might try to speak with some of my fellow priests about the Lioness."
Then Ulwe heads back to the Locamyrida.
There he speaks with Waed Daeva about the crown and its markings as well as telling about th ebuyer and her story regarding the crown.
"Have you seen these markings before?" Ulwe asks, showing the copy. If Waed Daeva does not know anything, Ulwe asks Waed "Do you know if another one of the Wise from the other sects might know? Perhaps Brae the Diviner might know?"
