Re: Dobrug, Part II
Madragar, with Darkvision and Detect Magic, will advance just behind the dwarves, keeping out a wary eye.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim looks around for obvious key hiding places (under rugs in drawers under this or that, over the door jamb) (Search +5)
After a couple minutes of this, he will try to figure out if the chests are trapped (Search +5). If Madragar or Ulwe come in he asks for their assistance checking for magic.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim quickly finds two keys hidden beneath a small wooden plate in one of the desk drawers. Looking over the chests he doesn't notice anything resembling a trap on one of them, but the second has a very suspicious mechanism barely visible beside the lock.
Madragar has already checked the shop for magic and found none.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
The wait allows Khelzhad's curiosity to get the better of him. He picks up the lantern and snoops around under the cover, looking for a mechanism to lower the "wick".

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Khelzhad finds no such device. The lantern contains no oil and no wick. A small post of metal extending up from the bottom of the lantern is itself ablaze, though it sheds no heat.
[This is the one spot of magic that Madragar detected.]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Atan stands quitely by the trapdoor with sword in hand. He is alert and listening for any sounds off approuch.
[OOC: Atan is listening for trouble with most of his focus on the trapdoor and tunnel.
Kenner - good idea on the chests. open them if you can.
Mike - Sorry about blowing your cover.
What was that old saying Madragar said " In for a slug in for a head?"]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim takes his time and double checks the one that appears to have no suspicious bits, then if he's really sure, he opens it using one of the keys. Are the keys different? Anything odd about them?

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Madragar, knowing nothing of trapped chests, stays right by Draxim's side, curious.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
The keys are small and simple. Draxim figures out which is the right one for the non-trapped chest and opens it. Within are several wooden trays bearing a variety of small silver trinkets and baubles - probably additional, and quite valuable, stock for the shop.

[Ulwe's Detect Chaos lasts for 30 minutes. Has that time expired since he cast it?]
Ulwe stands near the back door listening.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim gives Madragar the evil eye trying to figure out if he is insulting him or not. Concluding that there was no hidden meaning to the wizard's words, he decides to be nice to him.
" You better step back a bit. I think this other chest has a trap on it. I'm gonna try to get rid of it, but I don't really know what's gonna happen."
Once he is satisfied that no one is in danger but himself he will take his time and try to disable the trap. Disable +6 (with his fancy new tools)
[Also, see note before rolling]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim examines the trap mechanism closely for some time before beginning his attempt. With great care he tries to locate whatever device links the trap to the lock in order to disable it. Yet, it is to no avail.
After several minutes he is forced to admit that the trap is beyond him. Whether the key needs to be turned in some particular way, or some hidden pressure plate needs to be depressed, he just cannot tell. Draxim is certain that opening the chest will set off the trap, whatever it is.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim frowns. "Devious. I can't figure the direction the whatzit will go because the whosit covers it from sight. Well I can't get past this trap, so let's go down the tunnel. maybe we can come back to it." Leaving the chest unopened is pure torture for him of course. He heads back downstairs to the tunnel entrance in a surly mood, and listens again for any activity beyond the trap door.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Atan and Draxim both listen for sounds emerging from below. Nothing.
[So what's the plan? Someone going alone, or the whole group together, or one ahead scouting?]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
[My understanding was that I would go scout ahead with the invisibility potion. I am beginning to think that might not be the best use of such a nice item though.]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
[OOC: Though it is a nice item. I think this is a perfect use of the item since we need info and don't want a fight. Last time we got involved in a city adventure we burned down 1/2 of Ravensgate.
If we get cuaght down in the tunnel, it will be a big fight, one we might not win. I think invis is the way to go but I've been wrong before.]
"we'll watch your back Draxim, if things go bad, yell out. See where the tunnel goes and if you can find any clues as to where they took the elven mage and the grey disk."
