Re: Keep going
[Scott - What do we know about the surface buildings to the NE and SE of Uruul's shop? One leads toward Yashai's right? And the other?]

Re: Keep going
[According to the dwarves you're beneath Yashai's house, which is itself a complex of buildings more than one hundred feet in diameter. In any case, according to Draxim the northeast passage goes down, not up.]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
[So both passages might lead to Yashai's? More probably the other one is a means of escape.]

"Atan, do you think we can get that door down? We have lost the element of surprise. It's through that door now or retreat, completely out of the city. For good."

Re: Dobrug, Part II
The door is very tough. Without some magical aid, a battering ram, or a way to open the lock, it is impassible. Atan can't assess this at the moment, though, because it's pitch dark since Ulwe tucked the lantern under his cloak.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
"Watch the names Dusky."

"We cannot retreat from here and leave our city to hide in shame. Who is to say they have not gotten into the shop and will trap us there. That door is not going to yield quickly, and we may not want to face who is on the other side. We also need not stand here and fight to our doom. There is a third choice, we can go down. Right now the unknown looks better than our other choices. "

"Wait!" he calls after Draxim.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
[Time out. I am really confused. The western branch leads back to Uruul's shop. The NE branch leads to the impassible door. The SE branch leads upwards, Scott said. So what leads down?]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Quote:
The party is at a three way intersection with tunnels going west, northeast and southeast.

The stairway leading up to Uruul's shop is several hundred feet to the west.

To the northeast the tunnel extends about forty feet before turning. Draxim scouted it out but couldn't see much beyond the S turn.

To the southeast, about thirty feet away, is the door. Atan is currently on his butt in front of it, rubbing his shoulder. Everyone else is at the intersection
According to the dwarves you're beneath Yashai's house, which is itself a complex of buildings more than one hundred feet in diameter. In any case, according to Draxim the northeast passage goes down, not up

So as I understand it W = Uruul's Shop, SE = Doorway NE = tunnel with S turn going down

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim shakes his head in frustration.

"Gonna get us all killed" he murmers. "So what is it then the door or the unknown passage? you know there's no guarantee that there is any way out of here once they block up that shop. And I guarantee they're doin' it right now." He addresses the question to Atan. "I can try to work the lock, or we can scoot down that twisty passage. Yer call chief."

The Door
"Does the door open in or out? Could we keep the people in there somehow? Then we could likely explore the other passage with some degree of safety."

[The door opens away from the party. -GM]

[ Is there a handle or something that we could use to pin the door closed? ]

[There is a handle, but it's a fairly simple mechanism. There's no obvious way to jam the door against a determined attempt to open it. -GM]

Re: The Door
[as in it opens "in" ? ]

[Out and in are relative. "In" if you're a kuralitai guard, "out" if you're Ulwe. -GM]

Ulwe as blind as Atan in the dark calls out in a hoarse whisper.
"Fetch him someone, and we'll hear his decision."

Re: The Door
[Is it pitch black? Im assuming that those without dark vision cannot see, and the guards are human, so they dont have dark vision. So, they wouldnt be able to see us, unless there is some sort of light, i.e. from Uruuls store.]
Assuming its pitch black, Pogar will whisper to the group, "Be quiet and dont move. They may not be able to see us" Pogar holds still, hoping that Atans rash actions will not be a hinderance to the situation.
Then it dawns on him, again quietly whispering to Ulwe hoping that Madragar can hear, "Might those markings be some type of alarm?"

Re: The Door
[It is pitch dark. The only source of light is Uruul's lantern which Ulwe has concealed under his cloak.]
"They may be, that is now besides the point. Someone bring him back here"

Re: The Door
[It's not actually pitch black. There's lantern light visible through the narrow slot in the door. It's not enough to illuminate the tunnel, though.]

Re: The Door
Shruging slightly, Pogar suggests someone who can move silently to get Atan.

Re: The Door
From the GM -
Quote:
Ulwe and the others at the intersection also hear the sound of the panel being pulled aside, and can clearly see the opening in the door. It isn't hard to imagine that whoever is beyond the door can see them as well.

[Atans "unusual actions? Atans rash actions?". Characters were standing in the hallway when a spy hole opened up. They saw everyone. Atan just acted quickly trying to secure an element of suprise. bah. Read the F***ing posts people.]

Re: The Door
Atan moves to his left side and places a hand against the wall. In the dark and unable to see he uses the wall as a guide and moves back down the passage way.

[OOC: Crouched down Atan moves back towards the group.]

"Sea-King light please" he whispers. "Clocks ticking, though I want to see whats down the tunnel. I have no doubts as to the outcome of a fight with yashais armed guards. They are probably arming up and gaining numbers. So we need to move fast. Fate is not with us this eve so it is best to go quickly."

[OOC: As much as i would like to adventure down the tunnel. Without the element of suprise we are likely to get our characters trapped like rats.]

Re: The Door
Without waiting for Ulwe, Madragar stoops, picks up a pebble and with a whispered incantation, causes it to flare as bright as a torch. He tosses this up the hallway to land at Atan's feet.
