Re: The Door
Madragar throws the pebble at his own feet since Atan is standing next to him.

[So............. what happens next?]

Re: The Door
[OOC: Does Madragar have the knock spell?]

[That's not something Atan would know anything about, but in any case the Knock spell doesn't exist in this campaign. -GM]

Re: The Door
Ulwe says to Madragar "I have Uruul's lantern right here." He shakes his head.

He says to Atan: "We've all spoken our minds and await your desicion."
as he stoops to pick up the light pebble and puts it in his pocket.

Re: The Door
haveing heard Atan's decision, Draxim leaves. He goes quietly, and quickly alert for ambushes from above and in the shop.

Re: The Door
[Sorry can we have a brief Time Out please? I am confused. Which way is Draxim going? Is he headed to the Shop or to the unknown passage? What was Atan's decision?]

Re: The Door
[Fine by me. There are a number of options available, but I didn't see Atan settle on one in particular.]

Re: The Door
[I thought his last post pretty clearly signalled the intent to leave. Anyway, Draxim is simple and would see it that way. Especially since he wants to leave anyway. He has seen these Dobrug scraps get real deadly, and knows when to scram. so you can time out if you want but Draxim is scramming unless someone says something different.]

Re: The Door
[Sorry, I missed YT's OOC, which did clear it up.]

Ulwe keeps the lantern under his cloak, and Madragar's pebble of light in his pocket.

"Song-Wise" he calls out. " Can you and your cousin lead the captain and myself out of here?"

[Proposed marching order back to the shop:
Draxim
Janes
Madragar
Khelzhad
Ulwe
Pogar
Atan ]

Re: The Door
Khelzhad breaks his nervous silence in an urgently whispered response to Ulwe:

"If wise I be, then the shop is not an option. Our dalliance has given them more then enough time to prepare for us. Our cover is blown, but our mission is unaccomplished. We will not find Naredu up there - let us go the third way. We did not come to battle the Olmani but the Shadow that now works to divide us."

Re: The Door
As he grabs a hold of a fold on Khelzhad's cloak, Ulwe leans close and whispers back "You be wise indeed. Yet we must stay together. " He tugs on the cloak and asks the bard to direct him to Madragar.

Then he whispers to Madragar again: "The marks of the hidden ones are upon these strange tunnels. Yashai is in league with dark forces, but we need more proof. After this eve we will never get another chance."

Re: The Door
*Grunt*

Khelzhad slowly leads the party back toward the shop, stopping short of the trap door for a listen.

Re: The Door
Despite their vision-challeged elven companions, the group hustles westward down the undulating tube. The tunnel remains dark behind them, revealing that at least for the moment they are not being followed. They march along quickly, and in a minute or so are nearing the wooden staircase leading up to Uruul's shop. There Draxim slows their progress and advances with caution, listening intently.

Ahead the sounds of heavy boots on the hardwood floor of the shop above can be heard. The trap door, about twenty feet to the west, is closed - though shafts of light lance into the tunnel through gaps around the portal. Draxim turns to face his companions with a look of consternation, certain that their retreat is blocked by an unknown number of the kuralitai.

"My association with you has been profitable," a sibilant voice murmurs from the east.

Atan, holding onto Pogar's shoulder in the darkness, whips around and reaches for an arrow. His guide, the pugnacioius Ghuraskalli, snorts a challenge at the unexpected voice and grips his axe. There, less than ten feet away from Pogar, stands Yashai herself, her long, ornate robes a complex pattern of white lines in the limited spectrum of the dwarves' darkvision. She appears unarmed.

"The Rhusai crown in particular was an unexpected treasure, and for that I thank you," she continues in a polite, conversational tone. "But I cannot allow you to leave this place."

Re: The Door
Ulwe opens his cloak, allowing the lantern to cast its illumination on Yashai.

"Foul one of the Shadow! You have a reckoning this night."

Re: The Door
Yashai squints slightly at the revelation of Ulwe's light, but soon returns her unsympathetic stare to the priest of Orlanth. The Lioness' robes are of a deep purple color, embellished with red and gold embroidery and motes of silver jewelry. Her elegant Olmani features curtained by long, raven-black hair, Yashai allows a subtle smile to cross her face.

"Ah, the barbaric bellow and the threat of a score settled. You do not have an appreciation of your position, acolyte. If your wish is to struggle against mighty powers, and proudly sacrifice all of your future days, then I can oblige. You can meet your god before dawn."

Pogar, it seems, decides to do just that. Rushing past Atan, the dwarf covers the short distance in a few quick strides. His axe shines in the lantern light, splashing the tunnel with a cascade of sparks as it glances off the wall before arcing toward Yashai. The Lioness, however, does not move.

Pogar's axe passes right through Yashai as if she wasn't there. Retaining his balance, Pogar takes a step backward, totally confounded.

Re: The Door
Draxim makes the sign to ward off the evil eye and mutters a fearful prayer for protection to Urox under his breath. He listens again at the door in an effort to estimate the number of kuralitai blocking their path. He also tries to figure out if the door is blocked somehow (latched covered with something heavy etc.).

Re: The Door
[Right now Draxim is about twenty feet away from the trap door. He'll have to climb up the stairs to check to see if it's locked or blocked.]

Re: The Door
"Pogar!" roars Madragar, knowing there is no longer any point to keeping names secret. "Stay your axe a moment!"

"You have a proposal, Lioness, or we would be fighting now. Pray let us hear it."

Re: The Door
"A proposal? No. I am here to see with my own eyes the bold savages that sought to invade my home. There is nothing you have that I cannot take from your lifeless bodies. Yet, while you live, you may still provide some information."

Yashai looks down on the scowling dwarf before her, narrowing her eyes with concentration. Suddenly Pogar staggers backward drunkenly, one hand gripping his head. The Ghuraskalli weaves from side to side unsteadily and hisses "...ach... she's in... my mind!"

Re: The Door
Ulwe drops the lantern and charges the Lioness with his spear held in both hands.
