Re: Dobrug, Part II
"Sea-King" Atan calls out as the only light source passes by.
"The pebble or the lantern please."
[OOC: Ulwe has all the light sources, Atan needs to retrieve his magic arrow. If possible Atan will attempt to snag the lantern from him as he passes by. That way Ulwe can continue on and Atan can have light to go the 100' or so to retrieve the enchanted arrow.]
[I'm fine with that, unless Ulwe objects. -GM]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
[Ulwe had dropped the lantern, but as he runs past Atan he hands off the pebble]
To Khelzhad he replies "Unless we can run through stone as she, we have her not. The battle now is upstairs."

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Spent of magic and applicable scrolls, Madragar smiles into the rain, nodding. "An effective combination," he thinks. "I should formalize it into a spell...when I have the time."
Then, dragging himself back to reality, he cocks his crossbow and moves to the nearby inside wall, where he takes full advantage of cover. He will shoot the first Olmani he sees entering the far door.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim reluctantly retreats 5'NE to take advantage of the full cover. He then searches in his ready pouch for a healing potion
[I think I had one but I am not sure. Your decision. Pick one of two:]
[1] Finding the last of the stoppered life saving essence, he pops the lid and quaffs it down, the healing power coursing through his dense dwarven muscles.
[2] Finding the sack empty, he briefly remembers drinking it before an explosion and ... death? Some sort of rebirth? With no time to dwell on the happenings in the labyrinth where he obtained his new weapon of choice, he simply readies himself for the Legionairre's next attack vowing to Urox to bring the weapon crashing through the servant of chaos's head before the dastardly short sword comes in range. [hold action - attack if Qulzul comes in range.]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
In general, the companions do a lot of moving around. In the tunnel the tide flows west as the dwarves make their way with plodding steps towards the trap door. Atan races east more than one hundred feet and locates his precious arrow. Before turning to head back to the group he notices a pair of bobbling lights moving to the east. He quickly surmises that they represent lantern lights probably being carried by more of the kuralitai, coming to investigate the ruckus from the direction of the three way intersection.
Up above, Draxim does locate a single vial of healing elixir and quickly downs it. The three Madragars (the real one and two images) cover the entrance to the shop with their three crossbows. Janes takes a que from Draxim and moves south behind a shelf full of wooden crates, taking cover from the Olmani archers.
A blast of wind rips through the courtyard to the west, slamming open the back door of the shop and lashing the room with rain. Over the sudden tumult, Janes, Draxim and Madragar can hear the legionnaire shout a series of orders to his men before retreating toward the door. Madragar watches him go, the Lunar soldier covered from shin to nose with his oval shield, backing up in good order. Qulzul is quickly out the door and the faces of the kuralitai retreat with him.
Madragar lowers his crossbow in relief and a moment later Ulwe, Pogar, Khelzhad and Atan come bounding up from the tunnel to rejoin their companions in the shop.

Draxim shouts after the retreating Qulzul Yal, "Another time imperial! I'll make a wager of your commission yet!"
"We should get out of here," he adds more quietly to the rest.

Panting as he reaches the surface, Khelzhad sees the besieged Companions and surmises: "This is a death trap. We must escape before they burn us out!" He then joins Madragar at the back door.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Draxim's last sentence is carried away by the wind, howling as it is through the courtyard and into the shop. Madragar and Khelzhad, nearest the back door, put their shoulders into the driving rain and wind, the latter pushing in vain against the door to close it against the elements, if even for a moment. It begins to dawn on the companions that the wind is not entirely natural.
Janes nurses his wounded shoulder, grimacing in pain as he manages to carefully remove the kuralitai arrow. Then, suddenly pointing with his good arm out the back door, he shouts something to the others, though the meaning is lost.
Atan hazards a peek around the portal's edge and sees a wave of kuralitai, so recently having fled from the shop, now charging back toward it. Reflexively he backs up and puts an arrow to his bow, though he doesn't know how he could hit anything at distance in the terrible wind. Seeing Atan's reaction, the companions brace for combat.
The keening tumult becomes mixed with a feral howl as a living mass of wind and rain blasts through the kuralitai in the courtyard. In their midst, the thing quickly spins into a tornado - tiny by Nature's standards, but enough to send the unfortunate tribesmen flying in all directions. One of the kuralitai hurtles through the back doorway of the shop, his neck snapping noisily against the pile of crates Janes is hiding behind.
The kuralitai scream and run in panic, some pounding on the locked doors of the surrounding warehouses and shops, others surging toward Uruul's place only to recoil after seeing the mass of unfriendly faces within. A second maelstrom joins the first and the pair move swiftly through the courtyard, slaughtering the helpless kuralitai.
Finally, the six tribesmen put to sleep by Madragar's spell come to, only to join their comrades in the horror of their predicament.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
There doesn't appear to be any obvious path through the courtyard that wouldn't bring the party into contact with the two wind creatures.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
"Sea-King" Atan calls out over the howling wind. "This is your domain, what say you? Is this wind friend or foe?"
Either way Atan goes back to the trapdoor and prepares to defend it against anyone trying to come up it.
[OOC: Augery might be a good idea?
How many men did Atan see down in the tunnel?]

Re: Dobrug, Part II
Atan only got a brief, distant glimpse of the number of kuralitai in the tunnel, but it seemed to be more than a few. A dozen maybe?
Khelzhad and Madragar put their backs into it and manage to shut the back door of the shop against the wind, making conversation possible within the stuffy little room.

Re: Dobrug, Part II
"There is only One Sea-King and I am certainly not he. Please do not blaspheme Finith." Admonishes Ulwe to Atan.
"These whirlwinds may be summoned by a friend, though at this moment I cannot hazard a guess as to whom. I cannot say whether they will spare us or treat our bodies the same as the our Olmanni foes."
"Yashai's attack has left me weakened and drained of power. I cannot summon Orlanth's counsel." he adds to further bring down the hopes of Atan for a clear answer.
