Re: Off we go...
Ulwe surges forward, pushing his way past Draxim and Ulwe. Without hesitation he marches straight up to the nearest Shadowraker and drives his enchanted spear into the thing's abdomen. Momentarily stuck on the end of the elf's weapon, the hissing undead swings its shortsword at Ulwe. The blade is just inches away from Ulwe's face, and the glint the viscous purple poison can be seen clearly.

[Map updated. Someone give me orders for Draxim and Janes.]

[how about:] Draxim steps to Pogar's right and swings his mighty Duergar sword in a low sweep of the hulking undead creature's thighs.

Janes is locked and loaded, but has no target at which to shoot. Now that the elemental and darkleech are (relatively) safely behind, he moves forward with the group.

Re: Off we go...
Draxim steps to Pogar's right and swings his mighty Duergar sword in a low sweep at the hulking undead creature's thighs. His blade, made supernaturally sharp through Brae's enchantment, powers through the brute's parry and finds its target, cutting a long gash across the front of the warrior's legs. Though unsteady, the Shadowraker shows the incredible resilience of its ilk and remains standing.

Janes heads south, but stops in the doorway rather than give the club-swinging monster a free hit as he passes by. [Watch the AoO's there.]

Faced with two opponents, the wounded corpse turns to the one without a shield. With one mighty swing the beast smashes his two-handed club into Draxim's side, knocking the wind right out of the doughty dwarf. Draxim grimaces in pain, certain that at least a few of his ribs have been broken.

To the east, Ulwe's adversary makes a lightning quick slash at his head but the elf is skilled in defense and deftly parries the blow.

To the west, Madragar finds himself quickly surrounded. Backing into the southern chamber, Yashai stares at him in wild wonder, clearly puzzled by his courageous/stupid pursuit.

"Are you insane, wizard," she queries as the two Shadowrakers close in on him.

To the south, the armored undead warrior slips the last of his mail hauberk over his head and, disregarding his greaves and vambraces, draws a black iron longsword and advances on the wizard.

Behind him, the archer woman drops her bow and draws a long, wicked dagger as she pins Madragar from the north. Caught between the longsword and the dagger, Madragar swings his crossbow from one opponent to the other in a vain attempt to threaten them both.

The archer lashes out with her dagger, catching Madragar in the back a fraction of an inch from his spine [oh so close to a critical]. The wizard cries out in pain, a flash of buring agony clouding his vision for a split second.

In the chamber to the south, Yashai continues her retreat, disappearing behind the far door.

Back in the main chamber Ulwe remains confident of his ability to best his adversary. Looking over the Shadowraker's shoulder, however, his eyes are filled with an impossible sight. Just a few yards to the east the unmistakable shape of Naredru strides into view, blue robes flowing about his frail frame. He is not the mousey apprentice Ulwe remembers from his youth, but stands with confidence, the potent magic rod of Lyssa herself firmly in his grasp.

Their eyes meet, Ulwe's bearing shock and revulsion, while Naredru glares with arrogance and disdain. Without another word the traitorous elf holds a small bronze plaque up before his face and intones the last few words of an incantation, completing the spell.

The bolt of lightning blasts through the combatants like a lance of brilliant, careless death. The spell is indescriminent, affecting friend and foe alike. It begins just behind Ulwe's adversary and, passing through them, slams into Pogar, Draxim, Janes, and the Shadowraker before them.

Ulwe's adversary is quick and as soon as Naredru's incantation begins he hits the ground, avoiding the effects of the blast entirely. Ulwe, however, takes it right on his shield. The lightning bolt punches a neat hole in the wooden barrier and tears across the elf's chest in a cascade of deadly electricity.

Continuing on, Pogar just doesn't see it coming and is hit in the head by the blast. His simple steel helmet flies off his head, sparks of electricity arcing from it to the wall, the floor, and whatever else it touches in its mad dance across the flagstones. Pogar reels and nearly falls over from the horrendous effect of his injuries.

Draxim and Janes, their reflexes honed to a razor's edge, both get out of the way of the bolt. The last club wielding Shadowraker, however, has no chance. The lightning cuts him cleanly in half.

Ulwe gags in horror and pain, flecks of saliva pouring uncontrollably out of his mouth. Naredru surveys the effects of his spell and grins.

With his eyes blurred and a sharp metallic taste in his mouth, Ulwe staggers back from the shock of Naredru's spell. He takes a moment to steady himself with his spear before he locks eyes with Naredru the traitor. The sea-priest opens his mouth and summons all of Ulwe's anger and pain in one super-human shout.

Re: Off we go...
The quick movements of his friends no longer surprise Khelzhad the bard. He hastily throws his sack and shield back onto his shoulders, then tucks the scroll into his belt pouch and opens the small box as the familiar sounds of cousin Pogar in pain reach his ears. With no time to reload the crossbow, Khelzhad picks it up in his left hand while in his right he now holds ready the class orb of blessed water. Despite the tricks of the enemy, the party is encouraged by the continuing song of the young dwarf:

"Arrows flying sharp and true
Axes falling - hew and hew
Swords a swinging fro and to
Spears a striking through and through
Expel the Shadow from old Dobrug
The Trickster's plans we will undo
Bring every weapon we have to bear - to fight!
Companions of the Light!"

[actions: rearrange stuff, continue chanting]

Re: Off we go...
Pogar, hair standing on end, will stumble back through the door and look around, still trying to gain his wits about him. After a moment of his eyes wandering around the room, Pogar will pull his pack off. "I know Ive gotme one of them potions in here." Pulling out a dark, oily looking vile, he puts it on the ground to his side. Then he will rummage even more. Pulling out a clear vial Pogar will smile. "Its only light, but it'll ahve to do" With one big quaff, Pogar drains the potion.

[Would bladesharp negate, or stack with any of his current bonus's]

[Pogar will move 2 n, 1 w to get out of the battle and will quaff the last cure light potion]

Re: Off we go...
Ulwe retreats a step and summons an explosive shout of thunder, a mere flick of his God's power. The elf priest had no reason to expect Naredru to fall for such a trick, but perhaps the young wizard was gloating a bit too much for the wave of trembling air strikes him right in the forehead. Naredru reels backward, striking the wall before spinning out of sight beyond the doorway.

Atan glides through the throng and takes aim on the archer woman just as she raises her hand to give Madragar another brutal slash across his back.

[+4 Chaos Bane? 3D6 damage? I don't know where you're getting that from, but Mist Falcon is a +2 arrow that has a x4 critical bonus against Chaos. That's it. Also, there are no back shots.]

Mist Falcon's flight is straight and true, striking the Shadowraker below the armpit. Uncharacteristically, the undead archer shrieks in agony as the lethal missile, forged to kill things of Chaos, burns within her rotting flesh.

It is not enough to keep the Shadowraker from striking out at Madragar as he passes, but the wound does foul her aim. Madragar retreats safely.

Pogar stumbles back through the doorway and begins rummaging around in his pouch for a potion, his fingers shaking uncontrollably. Brae grabs his hand.

"We can do better than that, young Pogar," the old priest intones. Grasping the dwarf by the neck, Brae hums a prayer for Pogar's revival, beseeching the Wind God for his aid.

Instantly Pogar feels better. So good in fact that he's ready to run back into the melee.

[Pogar is fully healed. Map updated. Janes & Draxim.]

Re: Off we go...
[Janes is actually much more accurate than that. Did he use Brae's Greater Magic Weapon on his crossbow bolts? You never specified.]

Janes moves swiftly through the room, his crossbow tucked into his shoulder and held high, ready to fire. Spotting the archer woman in the next room he glides past Madragar and fires. The poisonous undead tries to dodge but Janes' bolt is right on target and strikes her in the right arm. The woman hisses angrily but, like most of the walking dead, disregards her injuries.

Bereft of subtlety, Draxim marches right up to Ulwe's adversary and makes a massive horizontal swing with his glowing greatsword. With only a shortsword with which to defend himself, the agile undead tries to roll with the attack but only gets a foot of cold steel in his chest for the trouble. Rotting organs and dry bones are exposed to the cool subterranean air, but the creature refuses to die.

Instead he chooses to make a fighting withdrawl. After slashing meekly at the advancing dwarf, the badly wounded Shadowraker steps into the doorway in the direction of Naredru.

To the west, a pair of angry undead pounce on Janes. The archer woman, her bow abandoned for a long, razor sharp dagger, slices a gash along the tavernkeeper's forearm. The swordsman, however, is much more vicious. Moving in swiftly, the half-armored Shadowraker drives his longsword into Janes' abdomen with both hands and twists before removing the blade.

Janes screams in anguish and, dropping his crossbow, falls to his hands and knees, blood flowing freely from his guts.

Map.

[Atan, Draxim, and Madragar are moderately wounded.
Ulwe is seriously wounded.
Janes is critically wounded and just this side of unconsciousness.]
