Re: Dobrug, Part III
[Popping Hero Points like tic tacs...]
Janes pops the top off the holy water vial and hurls it with all his strength at the lead Shadowraker. The missile is on target, but most of the liquid scatters against the creature's large round shield. Some of the water scatters, burning the archer woman slightly. Yashai is unaffected by it.
"Halt!" Ulwe's voice booms, the voice of the Wind God himself.
Naredru suddenly stops. His hand is raised, glowing rod of shimmering frost poised to strike Pogar down, the elf wizard ironically stands as if frozen solid. Ulwe's empty hand is outstretched, his flesh transformed into the mighty fist of Orlanth. Naredru's will is crushed before the divine onslaught and in a moment he becomes a statue, transfixed by the Wind God's command.
Hearing Ulwe's instructions, Draxim pats Naredru gamely on the shoulder and runs back into the main chamber to join the battle there.
Brae follows along with him and, sidling up behind Madragar, keeps his eyes on Yashai, ready to counter any more of her spells.
The Shadowrakers wade into combat. Janes continues to be the focus of the swordsman's wrath. Ancient, veteran soldier meets enterprise-minded tavern keeper and the result is understandably bad. Janes receives a brutal slash across the chest, opening up a wide rent in his armor through which blood freely flows. Janes falls backward out of the fight.
[Janes has zero hit points. Partial actions only, and lots of pitiful moaning.]
The archer woman rages against Madragar's shield, her dagger flashing in Brae's light-shedding helmet. The wizard's protection, for the moment, holds.
Yashai howls in pain and rage at Khelzhad. Her hands move in swift circles, her mouth contorting around the arcane phrase of her spell. The first mote of deadly brilliance leaps from her fingers to strike at the bard and is suddenly extinguished as Brae reacts with a counterspell. Yashai spins around to face the troublesome priest and spits out an incomprehensible curse.
The lead Shadowraker strides forward with supreme confidence. From behind his shield emerges a massive iron mace, itself glowing with unholy power. Without subtlety the creature raises it high and begins to mercilessly pound on the lightly armored Merek Lek. Atan is struck soundly, twice. The first blow knocks a leather pauldron from his shoulder, nearly crushing the bone beneath. The second blow powers into the elf's abdomen, doubling him over and causing him to drop his bow to the ground. The Kurashk flicks his wrist, dumping Atan off of his weapon and onto the ground where he sputters helplessly, coughing up gobbets of blood.
"Is this all?" the undead priest mocks. "Are these your champions? The Lightbringers are dead."
A momentary flash of light fills the chamber behind the Shadowraker, followed by a clap of thunder resounding in its wake.
"Back to the Pit, hellspawn!" Out of thin air Sangraal comes bounding out of the chamber to the west wearing nothing but a nightshirt and his high crested Lunar style helmet. His flail is a smoking inferno of holy fire and with one mighty swing he lays it across the Shadowraker's back. The creature screams in agony, its deathless voice echoing through the room. Divine flame washes over the beast, compounding its injuries.
Map updated.
[Note to Sangraal.]

Hold still Im giving you a shave
[I didnt see if Draxim took the weapon, so conditional orders]
If Draxim did not get the wand:
Pogar, desiring nothing more than to finish Naredru, thinks better of it and heeds the powerful words of Ulwe. Pogar will swipe the wand and rush it to Madragar.
If Draxim did get the wand:
Pogar, desiring nothing more than to finish off Naredru, thinks better of it and heeds the powerful words of Ulwe. Pogar will quickly spin and rush off to fight the shadowrakers. (#2)

Re: Hold still Im giving you a shave
" Stay down Cap'n "
Draxim seeing that Atan is helpless on the ground will step over him to protect the Merek Lek woodsman and attack the large Shadowraker with the flail shaped burn marks on his back. [ I think that's #7 right? ]
[ flank again! 5' W to complete the flank with Sangraal. attack #7. +15 to hit: +3base +5str +3GMW +2song (or maybe only +1 for the bless?) +2flank. 3d6+12 damage (2d6base +7str +3GMW +1d6flank sneak attack +2song(?))
Please note that if the Shadowraker is considered a chaos creature there is an additional +1 to hit. ]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Careful not to expose himself to danger, Madragar summons electrical energy from a steel disk and steps forward slap the heavy vambraces on the undead beast looming over Atan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Casting Defensively (Concentration +6). Spell is shocking grasp at 5th level.]
(Shocking Grasp - Your successful melee touch attack deals 1d6 points of electricity damage per caster level (maximum 5d6). When delivering the jolt, you gain a +3 bonus on attack rolls if the opponent is wearing metal armor (or made out of metal, carrying a lot of metal, or the like).)
Note that a missed touch leaves the electrical charge ready for the next round.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[OOC: Scott didn't say that this was Brother Wos, only that it was the same sort of creature. That would be scary, though!]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Ulwe walks down the hall towards his old friend Naredru. The effects of the spell still hold the mage powerless as the Sea-priest approaches. He leans over his smaller kin as he says in elven "May Humakt take you."
He raises his javelin to Naredru's neck. The Aerendalen priest of Orlanth makes ready to slay his long-time friend and fellow Grovewarden, Naredru. He looks into the transfixed eyes of the traitor, and with enchanted javelin held high, Ulwe hesitates...
[ooc: coup-de-grace is a full round yes? Then Ulwe holds an action until the end of the round Hold Person Duration 3 Rounds.]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Sangraal's sudden, inexplicable arrival inspires Khelzhad more than any song, and his final rousing "Companions of the Light!"
echoes throughout the chamber and within the ears of his allies. [Feat: Lingering Song doubles the duration of Inspire Courage to 10 rounds].
"Sangraal!", he cries as he reloads his crossbow, and the name carries back to the Companions in the hallway. Despite the loss of Janes from the line and the impending attack of the Shadowraker, the stout Ghuraskalli stays focused on Yashai.
"Yelm is with us! Orlanth is with us! Your doom is at hand! Companions - to fight!"
[reload, shoot Yashai + 10 hit, 1D8 + 6]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Madragar, meanwhile, is suspicious. He's seen too many old friends "return" in a less than friendly fashion. However, he's too busy to give it any thought just now.

Re: Off we go...
Pogar grabs the rod from Naredru's grasp and [not having given explicit movement orders] stands there.
Draxim steps lively over the fallen form of Atan and slashes the Shadowraker leader across the throat [sorry, no sneak attack damage against undead.] The fallen priest shows the strength of his supernatural toughness by largely ignoring the dwarf's attack and turning to face Sangraal.
[That's a potent version of Shocking Grasp. Where'd it come from? In 3.0, Shocking grasp does 1D8 +1 per level.]
Madragar quickly reads from the scroll. He waits for the right moment to discharge the attack as the undead woman watches him warily. For a moment both she and the Kurashk leader are distracted by the glowing, limb-chopping blade of Draxim as the dwarf stomps his way to the front line. Uttering the last word of the incantation he is relieved that the thing didn't blow up in his face [as scrolls cast at a higher level than the wizard can handle sometimes do]. Madragar reaches out and grazes the Shadowraker's shoulder, discharging the blast of electricity. The fallen priest barely notices.
[Yes, executing a helpless foe is a full round action. If Ulwe starts it now it will be complete just before he goes next round.]
Khelzhad swiftly loads and fires his crossbow. This, of course, draws an attack from the undead warrior before him. The filthy blade slashes Khelzhad across the stomach, opening up a painful wound the begins to bleed heavily down his tunic. This fouls his aim and the crossbow bolt strikes the floor in front of Yashai.
Janes is starting to lose it. Badly wounded, arrows and magic spells filling the air, pressed by stinking undead, and stuck in a dusty Lunar catacomb he honestly considers how the hell he let himself get talked into this mission. Janes backpedals while reloading and, firing from the hip, he puts a foot of crossbow bolt in the Kurashk warrior's skull. A wisp of necromatic miasma is all that remains of the creature's glowing eye. The Shadowraker, using its good eye, stares down the length of the bolt protruding from its face at the source of the attack and roars in feral rage.
Brae crouches over the bleeding, moaning form of Atan and beseeches Orlanth for his aid once again. This is freely given, and the elf finds the strength to stand, his wounds largely healed.
[Atan stands up and takes a 5' step to the east.]
The Shadowraker swordsman chases after the retreating Janes. With a mighty overhand swing the undead cuts the air. Janes dodges backward just out of reach, the creature's blade slicing a half inch deep gash down the front of his armor, but nothing more.
To the south the archer woman, not unfamiliar with the ways of magic, sidesteps Madragar's shield and drives her blade into his hip. Lucky for the wizard her blade impacts against a steel vial of holy water at his side, glancing off harmlessly.
Yashai, still reeling from her wounds, stumbles into the corner, eyes focused on the bard. With an evil grin she conjures a long green arrow out of thin air, its shimmering length dripping with bubbling acid. A flick of her wrist sends the missile streaking toward Khelzhad but the thing veers at the last moment, sailing over his shoulder to strike the far eastern wall. [Brae's Prot. from Evil is saving your ass.]
Surrounded and badly wounded, the Shadowraker leader maneuvers north but presses his attack against Sangraal. Dressed in only a linen nightshirt and his helmet, the priest is easy prey for the Kurashk. Its mace strikes him once across the shoulder, a cascade of unholy mist scouring his flesh, then again in the side of the head. Sangraal reels backward, his helmet askew and his vision blurred by the ferocity and strength of his adversary. Even Brother Wos, he recalls, wasn't this strong.
Map.
[Madragar, Draxim and Janes are moderately wounded.
Sangraal and Khelzhad are seriously wounded.
Ulwe and Atan are lightly wounded.]
[Go.]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Holding this magical thing in his hands, Pogar is momentarily mesmerised by the intricate designs. Hearing the clashing of steel upon steel, the cries of pain quickly bring him back into reality.
"Damn, I need to stop that" Pogar thinks to himself. Tucking the wand into his belt, Pogar will rush off to battle leaving Ulwe and his friend alone together.
[sorry guys....
3n 4w 3s 2w and will attack #2 (if he can get there and attack)]
[A few things.
1. Pogar is a dwarf, so can move 20' and then attack, or move 40'. That's four squares or eight.
2. Pogar can move diagonally. The first diagonal move is considered 5', the second 10', the third 5', and so on.]
[Ok, maybe my calculations is incorrect, but if he does a half move, he wont be able to attack until next round regardless, he wont be able to attack until next round. So he will move 2n 1nw (doorway) 2sw 1 w. Next round he will attack. Since he is standing next to Brea, could he give him the wand?]
[Sounds good, and yes, he can hand off the rod to Brae. -GM]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Ulwe staring into his once-friend's eyes sees nothing of the former Naredru. He sees a vile traitor who coldly murdered Lyssa, elven hero of Shei Hythriad and champion of Moagara. With the sounds of the horrifying combat in the next room snaps the priest from his reverie. With grim determination he plunges the razor sharp javelin, crafted by Zvhedros himself, into the traitor's throat.
[ooc: finishes coup de grace]
Then he will call on Orlanth to show him the arcane. [Detect Magic]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
"Here you are, Sangraal!" says Madragar.
He takes a 5-ft. step to the West, and, casting defensively, reads a scroll of mage armor, then touches Sangraal.
(Concentration +6)
Conditional Order: If Sangraal moves first (and so moves out of the way), Madragar will move to be adjacent to Sangraal, even though such move will allow an Attack of Opportunity by #2.

Janes decides that he has had just about enough of this. Still muttering under his breath abuot never following a priest anywhere, he 5 ft steps NE to clear his line of fire. Reloads and shoots at Yashai expending a hero point to try to make sure the shot really counts.
( +1 BAB +2 from Dex +3 from GMW, +2 from SotA so +8 to hit doing d8 + 5 damage plus whatever the hero point adds in) He also directs his dodge at #6 for a whopping 18 AC.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Pogar makes his best speed back to the combat. Upon his arrival the sweating dwarf hands off Lyssa's enchated rod to Brae who looks at it a little strangely.
"Galewing," he observes, seeming to recognize the device. The old man smiles, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Ulwe pitiously executes his oldest friend. His enhanced vision reveals a jumble of minor magic items in Naredru's large leather belt pouch - probably scrolls, potions, or both.
Khelzhad sidesteps into the doorway nearby and reloads.
Madragar keeps his guard up against the slashing blade of the archer woman, snapping off the simple spell with ease. A shimmering suit of magic armor surrounds the half-naked priest for a moment, then vanishes - in effect but invisible.
[Sangraal doesn't need to use his Heroic Surge to take a 5' step. He gets that for free.]
Sangraal wails ineffectually at the blasphemous Kurashk, the fallen priest now fully focused on the presence of his rival and nemesis. The Shadowraker is skilled and deftly parries the attack with his massive iron-bound shield.
Atan disengages from the furious undead warrior and gets a slash across the wrist for his trouble. [That maneuver drew an AoO.] The Merek Lek does manage to fire off a shot at Yashai, catching the sorceress in the thigh. She yelps in pain and begins a slow hobble deeper into the corner. Atan's blood flows down his arm and drips down the length of his bow.
Janes is a bit more cautious and manages not to turn his back on his adversary. Joining Atan in the corner, the tavernkeeper crouches down on one knee and draws a bead on the badly injured Xorn woman. The bolt speeds through the dank subterranean air and strikes Yashai in her gaping mouth. The bolt blasts through the back of her head and nails the twitching corpse to the wall. She hangs silent and unmoving like a slab of meat on a hook.
Draxim, seeing the Kurashk obsessively beating the life out of Sangraal, seizes the opportunity. With the gods themselves guiding his hand, and his considerable strength bolstered further by magic, Draxim's blade seems to have no peer. Almost casually the dwarf chops the left arm from the fallen priest's body. Its shield drops to the ground with a deafening crash, fist still clenched behind the tarnished boss. Much to Draxim's dismay, however, the Kurashk wheels around and raises its massive, unholy mace to continue the attack.
Brae waves his staff in the air, cheering for Janes and Atan. Free from his counterspelling duties, the ancient cleric moves to the attack.
With his time worn staff in one hand and Lyssa's rod, Galewing, in the other, venerably Brae takes a few ponderous steps to the north and lays into the undead swordsman. His first attack is just a feint, a diversion made with his long staff. With surprising speed and accuracy, however, Galewing comes around the Shadowraker's shield and smashes up against the side of the creature's head. There is an explosion of arctic chill from the slender rod and in a flash half of the Kurashk's face is covered in frost. Its mouth seems frozen open for a moment, Janes' crossbow bolt still protruding from its right eye socket.
The thing is quick to regain its senses, however, and makes a brutal slash that cuts across Brae's mail-clad torso. The old priest grimaces in pain but is tough enough to withstand the attack.
The archer woman leaps forward, catching Draxim from the blind side as he marvels at the dismembered undead before him. Luckily for the dwarf, however, his finely crafted mail hauberk turns aside the blow that would have surely cut deeply into his back.
Enraged by the loss of his arm, the fallen priest smashes through Draxim's guard and hits him squarely in his thick dwarven skull. The wound gushes blood and the unholy energy of the mace clouds Draxim's mind, beckoning him into the depths of the Big Sleep. On wobbly legs the dwarf remains standing.
Map.
[Madragar is moderately wounded.
Sangraal is seriously wounded - more like critically... single digits.
Atan is seriously wounded.
Draxim is critically wounded.
Ulwe is lightly wounded.
Khelzhad is critically wounded.
Pogar is unharmed.
Janes is moderately wounded.
Brae is moderately wounded.]
