Re: Dobrug, Part III
Waed Daeva raises an eyebrow at Madragar, then jerks his thumb over his right shoulder.
"We can get out the way we came in."
Then, to Brae, he continues.
"Please Master Brae, we must hurry."

Re: Dobrug, Part III
"Alright, Proceed to the exit and follow Waed. Madragar and I will quickly look in the room beyond my poor old friend's corpse."
Ulwe moves as quickly as he can (hopefully with Madragar behind him to the passageway which Naredru came from.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Brae isn't as swift as he used to be so he Waed don't hesitate. Both begin moving north through the twisting catacombs toward the tunnel intersection above.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Although he is unfamiliar with such things, Khelzhad makes an attempt to save the golem.
"Golem, follow me," he says to the construct, then moves out of the room a few yards and turns back to see if it obeys. If it does not, he will make one further attempt with the same command in Olmani.

The creature turns to look at Khelzhad, but ignores his command.
[I need to know who, if anyone, is going with Brae and Waed Daeva, and who is staying behind.]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
With Ithmod apparently fled and their main objectives complete, Khelzhad is ready to leave the catacombs. If pressed, he explains that he realizes the importance of the book for Ulwe and Madragar, but feels that it is outside of their blessed mission.

"Go. We will follow soon," says Madragar to Khelzad. He then hurries after Ulwe towards Naredru.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Pogar, a being from underground, was feeling more comfortable being where he was. Unfortunately, Pogar knows all too well the destructive power of fire, from his unfortunate accident one day as an apprentice. The word fire brings back the memory of that fateful day, when playing a little too much, brought forth more fire than egg shaped Kiln could hold. Sparks flew forth and touched some dry wood, and before he knew it, the place was on fire. The burning wood fills his nostrils as though he was reliving his experience. In his experience, Pogar just made the fire worse, instead of quelching the fire. Thanks be to Delarn, the clans cleric, who just happen to be passing by. Not only did she put out the fire in the kiln, but also the fire in Makaerd, whos smithy Pogar nearly burned down.
Shaking his head back to reality, Pogar notices the elf and the bald wizard going one way, and everyone else heading for the surface.
"Bah", he says thinking of the adventures, "Ima go with the elf and wizard" he thinks to himself.
Off he goes, with his stubby little legs pumping, Pogar travels after Madragar and Ulwe.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
The group splits in two [and we all know how well that tends to go], with Brae, Waed, Khelzhad, Atan, Sangraal, Janes and Draxim heading for the surface. Pogar, Madragar, and Ulwe head east to search for Lyssa's books.
The bulk of the expedition hurries through the catacombs, racing past the nearly motionless form of the darkleech, stepping through piles of burned burial robes in the gallery, and back to the spiral tunnel leading upward. It isn't long before they all begin to feel the oppressive heat of the tunnel and, finally reaching the intersection, are confronted by a pall of black smoke.
The Aerendalen have not abandonded their post, though they are all crouched down low to avoid the dark vapor pouring from around the solid door to the southeast. The looks of relief on their faces at seeing the return of Brae and Waed are obvious. The ceiling of the tunnel is indeed decorated with a web of cracks and stress fractures. In places bits of masonry has fallen to the tunnel floor. Draxim and Khelzhad take one look at the state of the stonework and know that the huge burning building above will collapse into the passage in a matter of minutes.
"On your feet," Waed calls out. "To the surface, brothers!"
A tremendous crash chases the Aerendalen out of the intersection as one of the massive timbers holding up Yashai's palace strikes the southeastern door and knocks it off its hinges. The roar of the blaze beyond is almost deafening, and the whole passage is bathed in the firelight like a blacksmith's workshop.
Ulwe, Madragar, and Pogar race east to the winding corridor in which Naredru was slain. The elf apprentice still lies in a growing pool of his own blood, a wide puncture wound from Ulwe's javelin laying his heart open to the cool air. Turning the corner they find a single door, closed. Just beyond the door the corridor has been blocked by a wall of fallen masonry, sealing off this section of the complex from the rest of the catacombs.

Khelzhad fears for the fate of the Rhusai crown in that blaze, but does not tarry as they make for the trapdoor under Uruul's shop.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Although not skilled in trap doors or anything of the like, Pogar will feel the stone wall and feel for any type of "sensation" from the wall and see if there is a hidden door. If not, Pogar will try pushing on the wall, to see if its a false wall.
[Does the stone wall feel real?]
[It's very real. It is, in fact, a pile of masonry and debris from where the walls and ceiling of the catacombs collapsed. Pogar finds nothing unusual about it. -GM]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Assuming Ulwe confirms that he has searched Naredru thoroughly, Madragar will not pause, but will continue through the door.
[Since Sean is Chez Grenouilles, perhaps you could answer for him, Scott.]

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Brae, moving about as fast as the dwarves, hurries along as best he can. The Aerendalen fall into line behind the companions and hustle west, happy to be leaving the furnace-like tunnel.
Ulwe shakes his head and quickly kneels before the dead elf and gives his body a more thorough search. There isn't much to find, however, except a pouch full of spell components, a few coins, and a narrow silver vial. It does not radiate magic or poison. Ulwe tosses it to Madragar for safe keeping.
Ulwe then rises and joins Madragar at the door, which opens without incident. Beyond is a small dingy chamber that looks as if it was where Naredru slept and studied. A single table stands in one corner bearing a pair of tiny oil lamps and what appears to be Naredru's spellbook. There is a straw bed on the floor covered with a wool blanket.
Most interesting of all, however, or perhaps most ominous, is a barrel standing in one corner, the lid of which is lashed down with a pair of stout iron chains.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Pogar will go about the room, searching for any trap doors or anything like that [no skills in search] Pogar will also look at the barrel, and listen to it, but will not touch it.
[Search +2 for doors, will take 20 ]
