Re: Off we go...
Khelzhad notes the dress style and armor construction of the ancient Lunar folk while he keeps guard and waits for the inevitable sounds of combat from the front.

Re: Off we go...
The corpses are attired in nothing but dry linen robes. Their uniformity implies that it is the Lunar tradition to bury their folk without regard to mortal possessions.

"Is the door trapped? Brae said we have little time so should we proceed?" Atan asks Draxim.

Re: Off we go...
"then lets get to it" Pogar whispers keeping his eye on the altar.

"Watch the altar, might be a guardan, led by magic to attack" Pogar says to anyone around him.

Re: Off we go...
Ulwe cannot conceal his disdain for the Lunar altar, though he keeps any commentary to himself.

"Haste is misfortune's friend, but fortune favors the bold." He points at the door with his spear and asks Draxim "Would you be so kind as to open that door, in the manner to which we are now accustomed? That is to say: bash it in Bull of Urox!"

Ulwe prepares himself to charge after Draxim, spear and shield at the ready.

Re: Off we go...
"It sounds like someone is leaning against it." Draxim muses quietly "stand ready everyone" He double checks everything for traps and tries to see if the door is actually moving at all (as in alive). He then tries to get a handle on how to open it, checks it for warmth (the scourging of Potter's Row taught him a thing or two) and if he thinks he can do it, will pull it open suddenly, thinking maybe some slacking guard will fall flat on his slacker.

Re: Off we go...
The stout wooden door creaking just inches away from his face, Draxim gives it the once over. Convinced that it is just as harmless as all the other doors he's encountered in the catacombs, he readies his bloodstained greatsword and grasps the handle. Ulwe stands directly behind him, poised to leap forward or to skewer whoever may be beyond the portal.

Draxim turns the handle and pulls, though it is hardly necessary. The door itself nearly flies open with the force of whatever was pushing on it from the other side. In the fraction of a second that follows, the minds of those in the small chamber can hardly conceive of what dark, quivering mass is rolling towards them. It appears at first as if the room beyond the door had been filled from floor to ceiling with ink, and a deluge of blackness had been released into the chamber. Ink, however, it is not.

The exact size of the darkleech is impossible to determine, but its immensity allowed the heinous abomination to press much of its revolting mass up against the door. The thing must have been touching the ceiling just a moment earlier for, with the unlatching of the door, it comes pouring into the chamber like an unstoppable wave of corruption.

The darkleech shimmers in the glow of Ulwe's light, having the slick look of hot tar, and is decorated by a number of dark green bubbles growing and bursting all over its surface. The bubbles, ripening to a light green just before rupturing, spatter the immediate area with bits of sticky black flesh and release small clouds of noxious vapor that fill the air with its stink.

Draxim has no chance. Before he can even switch his balance in order to leap aside the thing washes over him. His not inconsiderable strength is no match for the half-ton of viscous black ooze and Draxim is knocked off his feet. Flat on his back, he can only watch in horror as the hissing, bubbling, acidic flesh of the darkleech crawls up his torso.

Ulwe manages to leap backward out of the creature's reach, but the advance of the darkleech seems inexorable.

Map.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
Pogar will repress his fear and will rush forward and try to drag Draxim away from the door.

Re: Off we go...
Pogar lurches forward and, switching his battleaxe to his left hand, grasps Draxim around the wrist with his right. Although he heaves back with all his might, Pogar can't free his comrade from the grip of hundreds of pounds of sticky ooze.

Re: Dobrug, Part III
"Fire we need fire!" shouts Ulwe to those behind him. He then lends a hand to Pogar to drag Draxim free from the ooze.

Re: Off we go...
Glancing at Madragar and Janes, Khelzhad makes a grimace as he lacks oil or other volatile fuels. He turns to the burial niches and hesitates for a moment before he starts pulling at their aged shrouds and making a pile of them on the floor.

Re: Off we go...
With a shield in one hand and a spear in the other, Ulwe's going to have to drop something if he wants to help Draxim.

Corpse dust cascades through the crypt gallery as Khelzhad hastily pulls the dry burial robes out of their niches, casting naked cadavers to the ground.

"GAahh!" Draxim with every ounce of his strength tries to get his feet under him and leap out of the way positioning himself to use the strength of the tugging Pogar to his advantage

Re: Off we go...
Draxim quickly finds that there is no way to get his feet on the ground. Draxim simply has no leverage. His torso stretched beneath the mass of black Chaos, with Pogar nearly pulling his left arm out of its socket, the desperate dwaf lashes out with all his strength.

Sliding the full length of his greatsword along the ground, between the stone floor and the darkleech, Draxim howls with rage as he heaves the weapon upward. The razor of grey iron slices through the thick black blob, cutting a four foot gash in its quivering hide and sending a fountain of gooey gobbets toward the ceiling . The beast recoils from the wound, giving Pogar the split second he needs to pull Draxim from beneath the darkleech.

Draxim's boots and pants are half dissolved from contact with the acidic creature, though his mail hauberk shines like new from the chest down. Pogar drags Draxim to his feet and both stumble backward away from the still advancing mass. The long wound in the creature's hide quickly closes up, the ooze instantly recovering from the sudden attack.

Re: Off we go...
"Retreat!" yells Madragar in a surprisingly loud voice.

"Set that thing on fire in here and we'll smoke ourselves out! Retreat and shut the door. We'll go around! We can come back prepared if we must."
