Ya know... hold on. Stop.
The campaign cannot continue with the current level of participation.
Everyone's character sheets are available to only themselves and the GM. Another player may step in for a round or two, and I may guide a PCs actions if they'll be away for a few days, but the chronic absence of nearly half the party just isn't going to work.
I've designed this adventure to present challenges for a party of eight characters. If more people aren't going to show up and play then you're all going to die, and I think that would be a tremendous waste of everyone's creativity and time. I'll kill the whole party in the context of the story, or if you guys insist on it, but not because a vital chunk of the party is only being played at a fraction of its capabilities.
Also, the lack of participation is a huge drag on the pace of the campaign. This not only frustrates the GM, who would like to see the story play out sometime this decade, but also makes it very easy for the players to forget all the critical details that are necessary to fully realize the story.
This is all doubly frustrating for me because the entire campaign, from the very first night in Grungi's house, has led up to this point and many plot lines are about to be resolved. I was going to close the book on the campaign after this adventure, but I don't think we could even have made it that far.
You're all my friends and I'm glad we have been able to keep in touch through the context of the campaign, but the situation is untenable. I'm stopping the campaign indefinitely. Sorry.

I can appreciate your frustration. I am most definately sorry that you are stopping the campaign, indefinately, but I cant say I am surprised.
Would you consider continuing the game if we opened the character sheets so that others could pick up the slack? Just a thought, but I think I already know the answer...

Re: !
Sad but true - I can't argue with Scott's decision. Although we can run multiple characters for a short time when their players are busy, it cannot replace the spontaneous ideas and creativity that come from having 8 different players. Come December it would have been 2 years since I entered the campaign and while there have been faster times and slower times, most of '05 has been spent waiting for player input that just never comes.
For those who have been participating regularly and especially for Scott - thanks for the memories. For me it has been like a choose your own adventure story and I appreciate all the efforts that have been made to keep it exciting and fun. Cheers for the good times we had. Unfortunately it looks like chaos and apathy have won the day.

Awww damn.
I am probably bummed out as much as you are.
After you get a break maybe we can try to start again with a smaller party?

I feel badly that I am one of the guilty. I wish I could say that things would be better but my job and home life completely preclude what I think the game deserves.
Scott, that was hands down the best game I have ever played in. Thanks for running it and all your patience.
Thanks to everyone for playing. It was cool to game with you guys again. Felt like Scoot's basement. Just less smoke.

Re: !
Well, I for one, would like to urge you to reconsider, Scott.
I know we all have a great time playing in your game, and that all of us would love for it to continue.
However, all games slow down from time to time. Bane of the GM's existence, it's true, but there just isn't a way around it. It's a game, and everyone will have other priorities on occasion. When those lulls synch up, it creates a terrible slow-down. It happens to me, too. Right now, none of the players in my FTF game can make it until nearly Christmas - it just happens.
So, while I definitely do thank you for running the game, and while I also completely respect any decision you make to start the game, stop the game or alter the game, I'd like to clearly state that it's NOT the decision I'm hoping you finally go with.
I love playing this game. While my own participation has been very light during the last two to three weeks, it's certainly been active for the majority of the campaign, so I think I'm entitled to say that it's been something I've put some heart into, also. I don't feel bad about my recent lull: that's just real life.
Reading the messages above, one might not conclude that you guys are too sorry to see the game end, or at least that you recognize some sort of inevitability in the decision. But I know that's not true, because I've read the e-mails talking about urging Scott to continue. No reason to be coy about it - Scott, I'd like Moagara to continue!
So I urge all of you, amid your regrets and thanks, to tell Scott clearly if you really want him to bring Moagara back. He should know what it is you guys want. Then, it's his decision about what -he- wants, but it will be a well-informed decision.

Hear hear!
I heartily concur with Nolan.
I will be more blunt and perhaps more pathetic:
PLEASE do not stop the campaign. I love playing it and want it to continue.

Re: !
I saw the game coming to a stop, I had a feeling it was coming. That being said, I do not want the game to stop, however, I think that right now, where the story line is right now, there is a need for more participation from everyone.
We are pretty much at the gates of hell and I can see how difficult it would be to continue with the story when only 3 or 4 outta the 6 are posting.
I have said time and time again how much I enjoy this game and I have sent Scott numerous private emails telling him how much I appreciate the fact that he ran the game for so long and how much fun I have had playing it. I have made my feelings known to Scott, and I will make it publicly known. I have enjoyed playing this game emensely.
This game has tapped into an unknown creativity within me, that I have had a blast exploring. I do want the game to continue and I do hope that Scott changes his mind and bringing the game back. But, I also respect and support his decision if he so chooses not to. Its difficult, for the players as well as the GM to run a game when there are a few players that dont post in weeks.
However, I understand that not everyone sits on the internet like I do, all day, posting random shit here and there.....The life of a Network Admin. Im doing fucking research bastards!!

Re: !
I would love to keep playing this campaign if Scott agreed, however I have reservations about continuing without a promise of commitment from Dobbs and Whitney who would often check in and not post. And when they did post it often seemed like they had barely skimmed the other posts and their responses were often short one liners that did not include the input we needed to move the game along. I feel that if we had had their minimum participation of one post a day then we could have easily skated through this period when Halle, Nolan and Joyner were extra busy.

Re: !
What I am thinking would be to open up the character sheets. I think we have been playing together long enough, to understand how each character would react to certain situations.
I can understand and appreciate it when people get busy, and some, it appears, that at this time they dont have the time to dedicate to the game. Halle has expressed this and to be quite honest with you all, I do not mind playing more than just one character.
Or, one of us takes Atan, another takes Sangraal, another takes whomever can not give at least one post a day.
Just a suggestion. I wish all could continue to play, but it appears to me that not all can continue to play, which is understandable.
