Underground, Part V
For some, the infinite darkness that has engulfed the universe remains, cold and implacable. Yet for the dwarves, the corridor reveals itself in stark white outlines.

Pogar and Draxim are in the lead, each moving slowly and cautiously, one on either side of the hall. Behind them the companions are strung out, Sangraal, Madragar, and Janes behind Pogar and Ulwe and Atan behind Draxim. Khelzhad brings up the rear. Blind in the deep darkness, the humans and elves keep one hand on the wall beside them and try not to make too much noise.

The corridor is about thirty feet wide and extends northward toward a much larger hall from which the sounds of battle can be heard clearly. The sharp percussion of crossbow bolts slamming into stone is mixed with the clang of steel on steel. A loud command in a strange tongue makes Draxim and Pogar stop in their tracks.

"Vral dvush alkam!"

Draxim turns and hisses back to his companions. "Duergar!"

Thirty or forty feet ahead, at the end of the corridor, is a large wooden double door. Beyond, Draxim and Pogar can see no movement, but there are definitely corpses. Duergar, Ilbog, and many humans. The weak, flickering light of a torch can be seen coming from somewhere in the hall beyond, but it is not enough to illuminate much of the chamber.

Re: Underground, Part V
[OOC: Can Pogar make out how many corpses? and how far off is the torch, past the double doors, and lastly, can Pogar tell if the torch is moving forward or backwards or is it stationary.]

[Dozens of corpses. The torch is past the double doors and to the west. It appears to be stationary. -GM]

Re: Underground, Part V
Grabbing Draxim and pulling him near, somewhat rougher than normal, he whispers "Go on up, Lad. Sneak yer way up, and see whats up there. Dinna be stupid, which I know yer no, but Ima no wanna haveta avenge yer corpse and dinna wanna have ye mingling with the dead druegar, lad, its no good fer ye. I'll be right behind ye, so ye've got some backup"

Realizing he was being a bit rough with Draxim, grabing him roughly and yanking him close, he, again, pull Draxim close and whispers "Sorry fer bein so rough lad. All this magik, no makin me too happy."

He then looks back at the group and moves to the closes person and tells him to stand still for a moment.

[OOC: Pogar's intention is to have Draxim sneak up the the door, peer in and back away. Pogar is there for the possiblity of either Draxim being turned into a pin coushin and he can drag him out or if someone or thing attacks, Pogar can be close enough to help, if Draxim so chooses to heed Pogars rough "directions"]

Re: Underground, Part V
Draxim slides his pack to the stone floor and advances as quietly as he can. He peeks through the open double doors, scanning the far hall to the east and west before swiftly returning to his companions.

"To the west are a few men, looks like legionnaires. They're pinned down behind another set of doors. Beyond are some duergar, I think. I couldn't see them but I heard their foul grumbling. To the east is another corridor and a lotta corpses."

"Are the legionnaires alive?" whispers Madragar, incredulously. "You are sure they are not undead?"

Pogar hears the news from Draxim and his smile grows beneath the dusty beard.

"Then lets go n show the Legionairs that we be friends n help em take out the druegar.." Pogar says again, reiterating his position of pure hatered of the Druegar.

Re: Underground, Part V
Waking out of the stupor of time travel, the age and experience of Tagh Karach still vaguely within him, Khelzhad tries to hatch a plan:

"While chaos is apt to fight chaos, we know where the Duergar alliegence lies. We may be able bargain with the humans if we join them - if they do not attack us as well. If we choose a more cautious route, I can believe I can use the Ring to bypass both foes and scout behind. Posing as a Duergar, I could then be ready to spring an attack form the rear."

"Eye lad, but ifn yer posin as a Duergar n the Leigonares er good, I be thinkin that the'll turn tail n try ta take ye out.

There's no shame in who we are n what we fight fer.

I be thinkin we should march on in n see what the leigonares do. If they've got bows n crossbows an theyr undead, Ima thinkin they'll try n shoot at us." Pogar says with a shrug.

Re: Underground, Part V
"No point in sitting here discussing it. Let us make ready."

Madragar casts the following spells:

mage armor (from a scroll)
shield (from a scroll)
flame/frost weapon (x4)(the flame version)(on the weapons of Pogar, Janes, Khelzad and Atan)(from scrolls)

"Let us proceed with alacrity."

Madragar moves out.

Re: Underground, Part V
Whoosh! Axes and sword burst into flame, providing the only real illumination the companions have.

Madragar conjures his own protections and with a casual hand brushes up against his belt where Galewing rests and finds it not there. He quickly searches for it on his body, and those of his companions, but it is gone.

Lets go fight.
Sangraal recites a caniacle praising the divinity of yelm. Flexing his fingers he grasps the haft of his flail tightly obviously ready to engage the foul dark dwarves.

"...and in the morn, the darkness shall find its bane."

[OOC: I think I read it correctly that the humens have no light... Can I see a map?

spells up:
Daylight:40 minutes. 60' radius Creatures who suffer penelties for bright light suffer tthem while exposed to this magic light.

Re: Lets go fight.
"Hold!" hisses Madragar. "Great Galewing is gone! It was right here before our last time displacement! By the gods, look about for it!"

"I fear, however, that I know what has transpired. It was among the gifts given to the Moagari - somehow we or our opponents changed time, and it is no longer part of our history. Gods, what a loss!"

Re: Lets go fight.
Galewing would be, presumably, easy to find since it is icy to the touch and cools the air around it. Nonetheless, the companions do not possess it any longer.

Sangraal's divine illumination spills down the corridor and into the chamber beyond. A brief silence followed by a chorus of barked orders in duergar seems to indicate that the companions' presence is now a bit more widely known.

Map.

If you ever go back in time don't step on a bug.
"Madragar I fear it is worse then that. What ever transpired changed history. What we knew to be true may now have never happened."

Re: If you ever go back in time don't step on a bug.
Sangraal moves down the hall to the intersection. Using the wall as cover he peaks out and calls in Lunar.

" We are freinds, what legion do you hail from? and how many of the dark dwarves are there? "

[OOC: Sangraal moves 1 NW, 8 N and stops at the corner of the intersection to use the wall as 90% cover.

Re: If you ever go back in time don't step on a bug.
The legionnaires are a little startled by the sudden appearance of Sangraal. The intense illumination pouring from his weapon lights up the entire hall revealing a bloody battlefield full of corpses. Dozens of mail-clad legionnaires lay about the place, though some are clearly Moagarans wearing Imperial armor. Among them are not nearly so many duergar, and a scattering of pale, quivering Ilbog corpses.

The three legionnaires, two with the dark brown skin of Lunars and one a red-haired Moagaran youth, mumble amongst themselves for a moment in their hesitation. From behind them emerges what appears to be a boy of no more than ten years, himself clad in mail from neck to knee. The boy waves at Sangraal frantically while still remaining behind the door and safe from the duergar missiles.

"Sangraal! My friend! It is Mulgi!"

The little trollkin is smiling broadly and waving his shortsword about. Next to the towering Lunars it is a strange sight, the tiny creature wearing Imperial mail.

"Beware, there are dark dwarves down this corridor and they have big crossbows on wheels!"

Although when the companions last saw Mulgi in the Cairnhollow the trollkin only spoke his native tongue and that of the Lunars, his Moagaran is now actually quite good.
