Re: Underground
[ Hmm over 7 hours and no one else has posted except Sangraal to say he'll be away. Was it something I said? ]
While everyone else is busily doing nothing, Draxim goes back and retrieves his pack. Once again he will move silently (hopefully) through the mist and listen as he goes.

Re: Underground
[For the sake of moving the game along]
Both Ulwe and Sangraal move up to where the related dwarves are. As Pogar steps 10 feet, to look down the other hallway, to the north, the two Priests slide in and take his former position.
[Can Pogar see anything down the hallway.
Ulwe: 1se 7e 2s.
Pogar: 2e
Sangraal: 1se 6e 1s]

Re: Underground
"Janes and Draxim, investigate the northern corridor, if you please," says Madragar with unaccustomed directness.
"Atan, I'd advise that you take Pogar and spy out the area to the east. We spellcasters will form up in the middle room and await developments."
Madragar then moves with Druuga to the center of the room currently occupied by Pogar and Khelzad.
[Sangraal and Ulwe, being unplayed at the moment, join him. Hopefully the same is true of Khelzad.]
Once there, he addresses the spellcasters. "Gentlemen, I believe that we will shortly be in a battle more consequential than this. I have shot my strongest bolt. I advise that each of you consider casting any charms of enhancement...what the warriors like to call 'buff' spells... now if they are long-lasting, or be prepared to cast them quickly otherwise."
[Whereupon, Sangraal and Ulwe each either cast their best defensive spells on the warriors (Shield of Faith, Magical Vestment, etc.), or if they are of short-duration, prepare to cast them.]

Re: Underground
Without leaving the chamber, Pogar casts his eyes northward revealing a long corridor. It appears empty and extends beyond the limits of his darkvision.
To the east, where Madragar's magical lanterns still float and bob in the air, there is what appears to be a long hall of some kind. Tall stone columns line the chamber, and piles of debris lay here and there - mostly bits of wood and other rubbish. The far eastern side of the room cannot be seen.

Re: Underground
"Alas I have already drawn on the strength of my ancestors, for I throught the battle would last longer."
[Khezhad can inspire courage again but the Song of the Ancestors was wasted :-( It lasts for 10 rounds, in case we are attacked...]
After conversing with Madragar, the dwarf moves to examine the enemy war machine.
[Is is still serviceable?]

Re: Underground
Khelzhad advances into the great hall, stepping through piles of crusty corpses. The siege machine was, sadly, wrecked by Madragar's spell, though it could only been used safely by someone with the proper training.
From Khelzhad's position by the ballista the far end of the chamber barely comes into view. A large wooden door stands on the east wall of the chamber.

Re: Underground
As Pogar moves around the corner to check out the ballista, Pogar follows him, to protect as well as to look around. Pogar will look for inscriptions and anything out of the ordinary. As well, Pogar will try to figure out which direction they are traveling and if he can tell if they are moving upwards or deeper into the caves.
[Pogar uses Underground Lore +1]
[Pogar is sure the group is travelling east. Beyond the undeniable feeling of millions of tons of solid rock hanging above their heads, Pogar can't tell if they're heading deeper into the complex, or more in the direction of the surface. -GM]

Re: Underground
"Remain wary and in battle formation," advises Madragar. "Let us move up to see what the legionnaires were protecting. Quickly, if you please, while Khelzad's song yet echoes in our ears."
Madragar (and Druuga, Sangraal and Ulwe) move up, staying just behind Atan, Pogar and Draxim as they (hopefully) move toward the eastern door.

Re: Underground
Khelzhad moves with the group toward the door, weapons ready. He stops several paces away from it so as not to disturb Atan and Draxim as they do the customary check for tracks and traps.

Re: Underground
The long hall is about eighty feet long, east to west. The high ceiling is constructed of a two forty foot diameter domes, each exquisitely decorated with inscriptions and reliefs, though too high up for anyone to discern their meaning. Each of the eight massive columns that run along the side walls of the chamber are decorated in a way similar to the long passage the companions explored before being whisked away to inhabit the bodies of the dragonewts.
As they move through the room, the companions get a sense that the piles of debris are from wooden furniture of some kind, long since smashed to pieces. They think it likely a long table once occupied this space, lined with odd chairs that a dragonewt might find comfortable.
Finally, reaching the large wooden double door, Atan advances and listens. Quietly returning he whispers "there are more beyond the door, though some distance away. I don't understand their words but it seems that an alarm has been raised."

Re: Underground
Does anything about the voice seem more...mortal... than before?
Madragar returns and shares this intelligence with his companions. "If they be mortal," he whispers, " we must be prepared to weather their missile fire and receive their charge. This hallway will serve well to restrict their numbers in battle. That rubble will serve well as cover."
"If they be not mortal, then Brother Sangraal must drive them back or cast them down, as may be."
"Gather 'round and we shall aid you in what time we have."
Madragar moves Druuga behind cover, casts Shield and Protection from Arrows on himself, then Endurance (from scrolls) on as many as he can, in the following order, until the enemy appears:
Pogar
Ulwe
Sangraal
Draxim
Janes
Khelzad
Madragar
(Atan's already got one up).
[Not sure what spells Ulwe and Sangraal have available, but they'll similarly gird the warriors for battle with spells like prayer, aid, protection from evil and bull's strength. ]

Re: Underground
"If we fight, we should go back to the barriacade. It is the most protected. We can keep them from advancing while our disciples of the Lightbringers and archers work their stuff on their back ranks. Those who have better protection against missile fire should go more towards the back."
Unless there is objection, Draxim returns to the barriacade, and places himself in harms way along its south edge (middle of the hall on the west side.
"Then again, maybe we should just run up the North passage and trust to Yelm's guidance?"
Draxim looks breifly for rodents to conduct myomancy, and then realizes that he just doesn't have time for such quaint superstitions.
[ Look it up ya slackers! ]

Re: Underground
[Take a look at the updated Map. If Draxim retreats to the barricade he'll be more than 100' from the rest of the party.
Any other preparations? 30 seconds (five rounds) have passed and Madragar has just finished casting Endurance on Sangraal.]

Re: Underground
"Use these ruined pieces of furniture for cover," suggests Madragar, maneuvering Druuga behind a heavy piece. "Stay down, Druuga. You're covered here."
Ulwe casts Divine Favor on Pogar and Shield of Faith on himself.
Sangraal casts Divine Favor on Atan and Shield of Faith on himself.
Madragar continues with his Endurance scrolls until the shit hits the fan.
