Re: Underground
[OOC: As a character, Pogar prefers using an axe. The first axe he wielded, was a special one to him. However, he will use what he can.]

With his hand on the pommel of Khelzhad's sword, about to remove it when Draxim presents the Grinning Sword to him, again.

Releasing Khelzhad's sword, Pogar accepts the gift, again and mutters to the sword "Seems like yer no fer lettin me go. Yer always comin back ta me. Well, if'n yer as eager to be used by me, lets see if'n yer as deadly as Im hopin."

Hearing Draxim, Pogar replys "Bah, yer knowin that beast was mine but the gods no let me have it. Yer no stealin a kill, yer savin our arse. Yer a good lad, Draxim"

With a couple of quick swipes with the sword, Pogar turns to get back into the action.

Re: Underground
Aiming through the swirling melee, Khelzhad quickly aims and fires at a nearby zombie. The creature, still shrinking away from Sangraal's holy symbol, suffers what would normally be a fatal chest wound as the Ghuraskalli's bolt penetrates its mail hauberk. Yet the legionnaire disregards the wound, regains its senses, and charges Sangraal.

Atan maneuvers forward and deftly puts a flaming arrow in the mouth of one moaning zombie. The thing falls backward, its head bursting into flame.

The tide of confused and terrified zombies continues to flow away from Sangraal and Ulwe, but those yet to be affected charge forward to exact their revenge.

Draxim receives a slash across the chest as he turns to face this new threat, but his armor holds. To his left, Ulwe's shield refuses to yield against a pair of stabbing, slashing zombies. The legionnaires slam their shields up against Ulwe's, but for the moment the contest is at an impasse.

Sangraal is beset by four of the undead and swings his flail left and right, trying to keep them at bay. At this he is mostly successful as one gleaming blade slashes a deep gash in his thigh, staining his boots in Sangraal's own blood.

Re: Underground
Pogar, with a new weapon in his hands, slightly unfamiliar he quickly remembers his now dead uncle Tomo's advice.

"Yer love fer the axe is grand, dwarfling, but if yer no able ta use other weapons, yer no good fer yer troop."

Seeing the undead converge on Sangraal, Pogar quickly erases all thoughts from his head except for running through these spawns of chaos. With steeled nerves Pogar quickly rushes to Sangraals aid.

[2e and attack #27]

[What's Pogar using for a weapon? -GM]

[He will be wielding the Grinning Sword and will leave Khelzhads sword with Khelzhad. Sorry for the confusion. Is this sword just a regular sword with the special ability or is it a master crafted sword?]

Re: Underground
Pogar unceremoniously stomps up to the front line. In his haste the dwarf opens himself up to an attack from one legionnaire, but his mail deflects the wild hit. Planting his feet, Pogar drives the enchanted blade deep into the side of his opponent. The zombie arches its back and shudders, as if alive, then collapses in a heap at Pogar's feet.

Right behind Pogar, Madragar steps up to the battle line and...

[Burning hands has a 10' radius, half-circle area of effect. There's no way to trigger that spell from Madragar's position without roasting half the party.]

Already weakened by Khelzhad's crossbow bolt protruding from its chest, the zombie unsteadily blunders into Sangraal's swing. A shower of holy fire washes over the creature as it tumbles to the ground.

[27 and 12 are down.]

What's your point? :p

Alright. Stupid half-circle...

Madragar -doesn't- advance, but peppers the closest three separate legionnaires with Magic Missile.

[Scott. Atan is in the wrong position, he should be directly behind Draxim, unless I missed something due to my careless reading habits.]

Atan's arms continue to move amongst the jostle of his companions as they feverishly finish off the unliving legionairres. Shooting straight down the line he rapidly fires two arrows at the zombies surrounding Sangraal.

[rapid fire +8 both/2d6+4+Mads spell. The first arrow at 30, if it does not fall then the second arrow will follow. If 30 dies then he will shoot 29 with the second arrow.]

Re: Underground
Khelzad quickly loads and fires, but his bolt ricochets off his target's helmet, sailing off into a dark corner of the chamber.

Whistling over Pogar's head, three gleaming missile streak out from Madragar's fingers to sear the rotting flesh of three legionnaires.

The flash of light is quickly followed by an agile lunge by Ulwe yet his blade is knocked aside by a battle-worn shield, the soldier snorting contemptuously at him. Suddenly, however, Janes appears at the front rank and drives his shortsword into the neck of the distracted legionnaire. Dropping its own blade, the zombie clutches its neck to staunch the blood that is not actually flowing. Coughing and sputtering the undead falls to the ground.

Janes takes a moment to appreciate his work then yelps as one of Atan's flaming arrows flys an inch past his face. A legionnaire, its chest smoking from one of Madragar's attacks, manages to block the first of Atan's arrows with its broad shield, but the second strikes it in the left eye. The creature stares blankly at the missile and then slides limply to the cold flagstones.

The ensuing attack by the three remaining zombies is less than effective. Janes, Pogar, and Sangraal all easily parry the tediously slow thrusts of the legionnaires, almost making a sport of their clumsy opponents.

It's over...
With well practiced ease the companions dispatch the last three zombies with the strength to oppose them. Over the next minute or so the dozen remaining creatures are cornered and put down, one by one. All around, mouldering zombie corpses sag into uselessness, or sputter with the flames of Atan's arrows. The ballista itself continues to burn cheerfully, its twisted cable flickering like a wick.

Taking a gander up the northern passage, Khelzhad sees about sixty feet of empty corridor. Beyond that a faint purple glow can be seen in the distance. For the moment the subterranean complex falls silent.

[Madragar and Draxim are lightly wounded. Ulwe is moderately wounded. Atan, Khelzhad, Sangraal, and Pogar are seriously wounded.]
