Re: Underground
Ulwe does a double move 35' East. He dropps his pack and stays low behind the barricade.

Ulwe says in Elven to Atan: "I can summon more mist to conceal our advance. That is if they are indeed blinded as we are. My heart tells me they are."

Re: Underground
[Be more careful where you move, lest you end up on top of a barricade in the middle of a firefight.]

Pogar quickly hops back down from the barricade and soon the companions have mostly emerged from the fog and taken cover behind the pile of stone and timber. Sangraal's light shines out into the chamber beyond which appears empty. Although the companions still cannot see their attackers, their attackers can most certainly see them.

"Kalanai!" a rasping voice shouts out in Lunar from the shadows at the far end of the chamber. This is followed by a hail of crossbow fire, though much of it is blocked by the barricade. One bolt does sneak around the corner of the obstruction and clip Khelzhad in the leg. It is only a flesh wound.

[Map updated. Go.]

Re: Underground
Ulwe quickly fishes out a smooth supple pebble from his belt pouch, along with a goatskin sling. Invoking the Lightbringer Orlanth, he enchants the stone to shed light.
Then staying low, he slings the pebble in a high arc in the direction of the Companions' foes.

[That's two standard actions. He'll have to wait a turn. -GM]

Re: Underground
Draxim seeing Ulwe's plan decides to stay put. His impetuous nature wins out though, and he fires a crossbow bolt over the barricade at the lunar voice. He then reloads.

At the quizzical look from Pogar, he shrugs and says low, "I have a lot of bolts. And now they don't know if I can see them or not."

[ +8 to hit: +4base, +2dex, +1bard song, +1 vs. Chaos critters

Re: Underground
Draxim's bolt zips off into the darkness where a sound soon emerges of the missile striking a wooden shield solidly.

Re: Underground
Crouched in the corridor, Khelzhad can barely see Ulwe's preparations through the mist. Not knowing what boon of Orlanth it may bring, he hopes that he will not be in the way when it comes. However the crossbow bolt that nicks his leg forces the dwarf to move lest they be withered needlessly by the enemy missiles and he moves forward to engage the enemy directly taking cover as best he can.

Re: Underground
Khelzhad breaks cover and charges forward before breaking right and crouching low behind his shield in the corner of the chamber.

Re: Underground
Hunched over trying to make himself as small a target as possible Sangraal waits behind the barricade.

[OOC: Sangraal holds his action waiting to see if Madragar blows the enemy to tiny litle pieces]

Re: Underground
"Gentlemen," says Madragar, [Holding an action]. If one of you would be so good as to illuminate our opponents? Lanterns, thrown torches, fire arrows?"

Re: Underground
"I am in the middle of doing that!" snaps Ulwe frustrated at his inability to sling his light-illuminated pebble immediately.

"Can't you summon some Dancing Lights yourself?"

Re: Underground
The realization of whats about to happen hit and knowing his cousin is somewhere in front of the barrier, Pogar calls out in dwarvish "Ye Gurrow dung, ye'r no takin all the fun! Watch ye'r back, the fun's about ta start!!" as he prepares to charge over the barrier.

[Hold action till Madragar gets off his spell.
He will move 5e 2N into the opposite corner as Khelzhad]

Re: Underground
"Aye," says Madragar patiently, "but not that and my Scintillating Sphere."

"I will wait for you, Master Elf. I pray that our dwarven friends do likewise."

[Ulwe can't sling his light-stone until next round. Madragar might as well cast dancing lights this round.]

Re: Underground
[OOC: Madragar whips out the Player's Handbook, then puts it down and digs out his old 3.0 edition of the Player's Handbook ...Hey! It does that!]

[OOC: Madragar then plays it off as if he knew that all along.]

"Or, I could do this, he says," thrusting his hands forward into the gloom. "Akav le!"

With that, and a faint, sour smell of phosphor, four lamp-like lights erupt into being forty-five feet distant from Madragar, about seven feet above the ground, spaced in a diamond pattern ten feet across. They bob and weave as though borne by walking torch-bearers and proceed down the hall (assuming the hall is longer than that...) at a walking pace.

To those nearby, he softly calls "Hold, gentlemen. That wasn't it."

dancing lights

[OOC: Good call, Sean.]

Upon hearing Madragars spell go off, Pogar is ready to rush, but waits as he hears Madragar. With the eager anticipation of the battle ahead, Pogar waits.

Re: Underground
Atan cautiously peeks his head above the barricade, a magicked arrow held down at the ready. His eyes follow the dancing lights waiting for a clear target to be back lit.

[IF he can see one he will shoot a single arrow. Undead was my 5th lvl favored enemy so.....+8 to hit (+1 within 30 feet), 2d6+3 + Madragars spell. Here is my dmg bonuses (+1 within 30 feet / +2 vs. Broo 30 feet / +1d6 vs Broo/+1 vs Undead 30 feet/+1d6 vs undead), critical x3.]

Re: Underground
Four orbs of glowing light, as bring as little lanterns, spring into being among the grim gray ranks of the undead legionnaires. Five of the tall creatures stand with their shields and swords at the ready, while the rest busily reload their crossbows. Beyond, two of the unfortunate Lunars pull on a pair of winches, their mechanical chimes bringing the massive string of their ballista back to its firing position.

With his companions ducking low behind the barricade, Atan has a clear shot and takes it. The arrow barely clears the edge of one oval shield and strikes a legionnaire in the eye and embeds itself in the thing's brain pan. Although a fatal wound to any mortal, Atan was aiming for the spinal cord. The zombie stares at the missile with a confused look but does not fall.

Re: Underground
Popping his head over the barricade and seeing the undead across the way, and realizing that his cousin is out there alone, Pogar charges over the barricade, and runs and slides in next to his cousin, shrinking himself as best he can to hide behind the shield. "Look'in like we're gonna have some fun today" Pogar says with a wild look in his eyes.

[1se 4e 2s, places Pogar right next to Khelzhad.]

Re: Underground
Draxim whispers back to Sangraal, "Ain't this where you call on the holy power of Yelm to blast the living dead with holy light? I'd like to see that. I've always heard about it but I never seen it...", he let's the thought trail off while considering his next move.

Re: Underground
Janes, not seeing much point to running into concentrated undead missle fire, checks behind the party to see if anything is coming up behind them and then loads his crossbow.
