Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
[I don't think anyone added the treasure to their equipment lists. For now, Ulwe's got it all. Don't fall into a pit of lava.]

Draxim, backed up by Khelzhad, stalks down the corridor the eighty feet or so to the intersection. Even without his huge pack Draxim is not at all silent. His armor and equipment creak and clank constantly.

The intersection consists of a ten foot alcove to the west which appears completely empty. The corridor turns to the north and Draxim peeks around the corner, surveys the area, then motions for Khelzhad and he to return.

Back at the secret door he explains...

"I don't know if it's the armory we're looking for, but the hall widens out and there are weapons there. Spears, javelins, and bows mostly. Lots of dust and cobwebs so I don't think anyone's been there for a long time. The hallway keeps going north after that."

[Nolan, Draxim can open locks, disarm traps, and move silently (if he wasn't in so much armor). Other than that he's mostly a fighter.]

Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
Sangraal shuts the secret door.

"Ok, I'm pretty sure we should be safe here. Lets move mid way to the alcove. Atan covered our tracks and by the looks of all the dust, no one has been in here for years. So now we just sit and wait. madragar should come around in a day or so....I hope."

"We should set up a cloak to block the light from any light source we have and every turn at sentry should have two people on guard, one of which should be a dwarf at the entrence to the alcove, the darkvision will be useful."

Sangraal looks around at the party.

"Everyone ok with this?"

[OOC: Hopefully we can get a time passes and get Madragar back up. Then we can proceed to the fun stuff. ]

Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
Ulwe likes Sangraal's idea. While the group rests and waits, and speds a little time examining the spears and other weapons in the 'armory'.

[Detect magic ]

Also Ulwe trats himself to a cure light wounds.

[Anyone else wounded?]

Ulwe also uses his Heal skill on Madragar to aid the mage's recovery.

[Heal +9, If Atan helps +11, Does Khelzhad have inspire competance? That could help... ]

Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
The companions advance to the armory. On the way it becomes obvious to everyone passing by the alcove that at its western end is another secret door. The single round node, identical in size and location to the first secret door they found, is clearly visible. Draxim's darkvision simply didn't pick it up.

The armory itself is a gallery about thirty or forty feet long. The eastern wall of the chamber is dominated by a wooden weapon rack. Two dozen javelins, eight long spears, nine thick recurve bows, and eight bundles of long arrows in leather quivers hang from the rack, all covered in a layer of dust and cobwebs. It seems that even the spiders have abandoned this place.

Instinctively, or perhaps remembering some mote of memory from their time within the bodies of the dragonewts, the companions are certain that the weapons in the gallery are not for dragonewt Warriors but for the much smaller Scouts. Though they have never seen a Scout, the size of the weapons indicates they are about the size of a human.

The corridor continues beyond the armory and, after ten feet or so, begins to rise upward in a gradual slope. The dwarves peer up the ascending tunnel but it continues beyond the limit of their darkvision.

Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
Draxim will give the weapons a once-over, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Then he will advance to the stairs and examine the stairwell, careful to look for tripwires or pressure plates along the way. It surprises him that so much equipment should be untouched for so long.

Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
[The map looks like a staircase, but it's a slope.... a ramp... whatever.]

Draxim finds nothing out of the ordinary among the weapons, or the ramp to the north. Ulwe's detect magic confirms this.

[Ulwe is also now completely healed.]

"While these weapons will no doubt be useful, I do not think this is the aid that the Zhoskelgar have in mind for us. Let us ascend the ramp."

Re: Oh hell in a hand basket
Ulwe organizes a detail to make a stretcher out of 2 long spears and Madragar's cloak and bedroll with Atan and Janes' help.

Ulwe offers to carry one end of the stretcher and enlists Janes for the other.

You're standing on his groin.
"We should not move such a gravely injured person more then is needed. Moving him in here was for safty reasons, lets sit tight. He should be up in a day or so." Sangraal says to Ulwe.

[OOC: I am pretty sure that everytime you move an injured person it starts the healing clock over again and magic can't heal these wounds till he's well enough. Lets all wait.]

[GM, is YT correct on the game mechanics? ]

Ulwe ponders whether the bandages will hold and the stretcher will carry the mage without causing more damage.

Re: You're standing on his groin.
[There isn't a clock per se, but jostling around an injured person certainly doesn't help. It killed Stonewall Jackson!

Anyway, the stretcher idea will work - with Janes' carpentry skills and Draxim's cunning with rope. If combat time suddenly hits you can consider it a full round action to put Madragar down without hurting him.]

Re: You're standing on his groin.
[If it killed Stonewall, what chance does Madragar have? Then again there could be loot just around the corner!]

Atan looks about, at the ramp, back towards the door, then down at the floor of the T intersection. Nodding his head to some unspoken question he addresses the group, "Keeping Mad in one place probably is a good idea. We have a sanctuary for now perhaps, and we should take a advantage of it. Although it seems we have dodged those who may pursue, we don't know what lies ahead. I would prefer to face either such things as close to full strength as possible. That means getting Madragar back up, before we start messing with other things. If the dwarves want to scout, sans armor or lights ,with a strict promise to look but not touch, I think that is a good idea. If those terms are not acceptable, we should all sit here for a day or so and wait."

Re: You're standing on his groin.
"Let's get this stretcher made while we wait anyway. If we need to take off quickly, Madragar will need it."

"A look around would be an excellent idea. They may find a more suitable place to hole up, or espy enemies. After the Dwarves return from a brief reconnoiter, we can decide whether or not to move on then."

After Janes and Draxim rigs up a stretcher, Ulwe takes out the items He remembered to grab from the scribe's trove. Looking at the flasks he tries to determine if any are toxic.

Re: You're standing on his groin.
[None of the items Ulwe grabbed are poisonous.

Without an alchemist (i.e. Madragar) there's no way of knowing what the potions do, though they are magical.]

Draxim strips off his armor and puts out his torch. Piling his armor carefully against the wall, he then stretches out the kinks. Looking at Pogar and Khelzad, he asks "Ready for a little look around?"

Khelzhad nods and does likewise, removing his battle-worn chainmail. He takes his helmet, sword, belt pouches, an empty sack and the 2 javelins.

Re: You're standing on his groin.
[DB's not around, so let's say he goes too.]

The slightly more stealthy dwarves set out to explore their surroundings. First they go north, up the long ramp. Very long, as it turns out, as the trio slowly creep along several hundred feet of corridor that brings them about one hundred feet closer to the surface.

Abruptly the passageway ends, turning westward once again. A round node on the wall indicates yet another secret door.
