Re: Underground, Part IV
Seeing Madragar come out of his coma, Pogar looks to the heavens and says a silent prayer of thanks, that no one can see.
Returning to his normal gruff self, Pogar says "Shoulda kill'd 'im when we had the chance." Shrugging and turning to walk a way, Pogar pauses and once again turns to Madragar and says, "Glad ta 'ave ye back, Lad".
He then moves back off and stands guard.

"And I to be back, Pogar. However, I thank the gods who sent me back that we did NOT try to kill the false Druuga earlier. Else we should all be dead now, and no one to look over us. This...thing...is no mere monster. I fear that it will take more than steel to fell it, and I am not sure that I wish to know if it can be done at all."

Re: Underground, Part IV
[ commas are, stupid. ]
"While your thanking the Gods don't forget to thank them for your share o' the loot, " says Madragar with smile and a pat on the head for the miracle mage. He hands him a bag with his share of the coinage.
"And when your up to it, there is parcel of stuff that needs your once over."
He continues filling Madragar in on their present situation.

Re: Underground, Part IV
Madragar gives Draxim a weary but amused grin. "One can never have too much loot," he says, hefting the bag and appreciating its weight. "My thanks."
"And thanks to Ulwe and Sangraal, whose efforts I assume I have to thank for my relative wholeness."
Eventually, Madragar will eat, shave and study spells, in that order.
When he is ready, he will examine the items Draxim mentioned.
"Please tell me that someone recovered Galewing?"

Re: Underground, Part IV
Quote: Twelve simple silver vials.
Madragar inspects the vials and quickly surmises that each contains liquid of healing power.
12 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds
Quote: Four silver vials bearing the seal of some Lunar emperor or another.
After a thorough inspection Madragar concludes that the four ornate vials contain the rare elixir known as the Essence of Air. The potions have two purposes:
1. Someone drinking an entire vial of the Essence of Air will be under the effects of a Fly spell as if cast by a 7th level wizard.
2. One drop of the Essence of Air placed on a normal missile (arrow, bolt, dart, or sling stone) will give that missile a +2 enchantment and will remove all negative modifiers for distance. The enchantment lasts one hour. A single vial contains enough liquid for dozens of missiles.
Quote: A pair of small wooden boxes and a suede bag. After the requisite inspection Draxim opens the boxes to find a pair of strange contraptions.
Each device looks like a small metal cage surrounding a glowing red crystal the size of peach pit. The cage is made of iron, is fairly light-weight, and segmented. After a thorough inspection, and serious consultation with Janes, Draxim decides that the cages are designed to break the crystal when struck or, perhaps, thrown.
Madragar determines that the crystals contain bound fire elementals of moderate power that are unleashed when the crystals are broken. Madragar isn't sure what would happen if the creatures were set free, but he believes it very likely they would attack the nearest living thing until they were destroyed or some amount of time had passed at which time they would return to the Outer World from which they came.
Quote: Within the suede bag he finds a large runemetal ring.
After attuning himself to the runemetal ring, Madragar reveals that it contains a strong protective enchantment called the Iron Aspect of Valshal.
The wearer of the ring may summon the Iron Aspect once per day, and up to three times total before the ring must be recharged by the light of a full moon. The ring currently contains enough charge for two more uses.
The Iron Aspect grants the wearer 20/- Damage Resistance against all attacks except electricity, which penetrates the Damage Resistance and causes double damage. The protective magic can absorb 100 points of damage before being expended, and ends in any case after one hour. The Iron Aspect is activated by a command word: Valshal.

Re: Underground, Part IV
"Seems to me like those Essence of Air potions should go to our foremost missilers: Atan, Janes, Madragar, and Khelzhad. I think the ring should go to Pogar. He's the one that runs ahead all the time so he needs protectin'." he pauses breifly to see what effect if any the jibe has on the reckless dwarf.
" I would be happy to give that short sword what turns your foe's blood to poison to Janes, if he thinks he can use it. For my part I will be happy to carry a couple of these healing potions. They come in right handy, wouldn't you say Madragar? I might also trouble one of you for a dip for one of my bolts from time to time. How's that sound?"

Re: Underground, Part IV
[Currently Pogar is in posession of the Grinning sword as both his ax's have been lost, and it is currently the only weapon that he has.]
Upon hearing Draxims playful jab, Pogar pretends to get angry and move to punch Draxim, only to, at the last second, playfully pat him on the back.
"Eye, Im fer gettin the job done, and no waitin fer tha enemy contine ta swing at me." he says with a wink.

Re: Underground, Part IV
"A most curious and excellent selection of arcane treasures," agrees Madragar.
"I know that our friend Janes has not had a share of the important magical items. I think the first choice of the ring should go to him. It may be that it will aid with some trap or another that Janes will be called upon to deal with. Of course, a warrior like Pogar could also make excellent use of it. Up to Janes, I would think."
"As for the Elixirs of Air, let me suggest that we preserve one of those for the first usage - flying. A handy ability to have, when one faces a flying opponent, or an impassible cravasse. But yes, I think the other three should go to archers...but not be wasted upon a wizard's crossbow."
"The elementals - now there is an interesting conundrum. Dangerous and fierce they are, and should be reserved for a situation where their use will do more damage to the enemy than to, say, me." A small smile cracks Madragar's usual reserve.
"I should think that one should go to each of the second-rankers - Janes, Khelzhad and myself. And one to Draxim."
"Oh, and Sangraal, is that Galewing I spy amidst your gear?"

Re: Underground, Part IV
Draxim gets a little heebie jeebie about the fire elemental grenades.
"You mean there's some big fire thing alive inside there? That ain't natural at all," he shivers.
"No Thanks!" he refuses when Madragar mentions him as a possible porter for the crystal-cages.
"Besides are you sure it ain't some kind of Chaos beast?"
He looks to Ulwe and Sangraal for reasurrance patting his suddenly sweaty forhead with his grime encrusted hanky.

"That ring seems mighty potent, but I think it would best be used to keep the ones who spend most of their time on the ground off of it. I have noticed that both Sangral and Madragar seem to get their lights knocked out more than most. Perhaps they should wear the ring?"

"Hmm tha's fine thinkin' there. Maybe we should give it to Sangraal or Ulwe, so's they would be more likely to be able to heal the rest of us."

Re: Underground, Part IV
[OOC: Why yes, it is Galewing ]
"We picked it up in the hallway where we found you. I was wondering if you would teach me the ways of attuning. The rod would have came in handy if we had been attacked in our weakened state." Sangraal says as he hands Madragar Galewing.
"As for the ring it is indeed a powerful item, an item that I could find useful since I am somewhat slow of foot and without a shield.
[OOC:
1. Can Madragar teach Sangraal how to access Gaelwings powers?
2. Sangraal has no dex bonus and no shield, his AC is a 15 ]

[Shield of Faith, dude! Better yet, "Wand of Shield of Faith".]
"I will do so, Sangraal. Just as soon as I am able."
[GM: How long will that instruction/indoctrination/hazing take?]
[All it takes is Madragar's presence to summon the Knowledge Spirit, then Sangraal fights it. -GM]
[And can Madragar now memorize spells?]
[Yep. -GM]

Re: Underground, Part IV
"We have twelve vials of Moderate healing. Everyone takes one. The extra four should be split up amoung Janes, Madragar, Atan, Khelzhad. that way the missile and spell ranks have an extra to help the front line guys if they go down."
[OOC: I am just trying to speed things up.
Janes: 2 potions of cure moderate
Madragar: 2 potions of cure moderate
Atan: 2 potions of cure moderate
Khelzhad: 2 potions of cure moderate
everyone else: 1 potion of cure moderate
write it down on your sheet!

Re: Underground, Part IV
Ulwe slips teh silver flask into his belt pouch to keep at the ready. AS to the disbursement of magic items he concurs: "Janes has first pick as is his right." "If he cedes the ring to another than he would get the first pick of the next treasure as is only fair."
"Everyone but Janes has had a pick, so whomever gets the ring would be most likely excluded from the next choice, as would only be fair."
Now that Atan has ample ammunition as well as an ointment to enchant his arrows, Ulwe takes back the Swan Maiden.
"So then, who shall take the ring? If Sangraal claims it, I support his reasoning, the Yelmite is not agile."
"What is the fates of Silkriks chain and the grinning blade? Are they to remain with Draximn and Pogar?"

Re: Underground, Part IV
Sangraal removes his leather gaunlet and slips the ring on.
" As a side note, I think the Draconians wanted to make sure we found the armoury but why? Maybe there is another secret door in this hall other then the two we know about."
[OOC:
1. This is my last post for the next 48 to 72 hours as I will be traveling to Denmark.
2. Personally, I think the ring is very cool and fits with Sangraals idiom so I say "Yipppeeee" ! Sangraal gladly pulls himself out of the next magic set. This will allow Sangraal to wade into combat like a frontline fighter, which Sangraal tries to be. We have not heard from everyone yet so I'll put the ring on my sheet tenatively.
3. We should check for other secret doors in this passage way before opening the other door.
4. Anyone can run Sangraal to speed things up while I am offline.
