"There they go again!" Draxim makes the hand-sign to avert the evil eye.

Re: Underground, Part IV
Madragar grasps Galewing, summons forth the much more potent guardian spirit within, and instanty hits the dirt. After regaining consciousness the wizard is left pale and shivering, though he has little recollection how he came to be that way.

[Madragar has 0 Power out of 11.]

Re: Underground, Part IV
[Just to be clear, he was at full Power before attempting this?]

"All things considered," he gasps, "I'd rather be in Dobrug."

"I think we leave the Second Guardian for another day."

[Yep, full Power. Madragar didn't believe he had the strength to defeat the second guardian. Turns out he was right. -GM]

Re: Underground, Part IV
"See! That's what comes of messin' with that unnatural stuff. You just leave well enough alone Madragar and use that little stick to chill your ice tea. Fool of mage. Just gets up from gettin' his insides ravaged by some monster an' a 3 day coma, but does he rest? NO! He has to go fightin' some spirit in a stick before he's even fully recovered." Draxim shakes his head as he scolds Madragar, wiping the groggy mage's face with a wet cloth.

"You OK?" he adds as an afterthought.

Re: Underground, Part IV
Atan too agrees with Sangraal getting the ring, "Makes good sense", he comments. As to the other stuff "I can always make use of these.", and he stuffs the offered silver vial with lunar writtings into his right thigh pouch, and the vials of cure moderate into his left, ready for quick access.

Atan sits down with the dragonnewt bow and looks it over. Using his over-tunic as a make shift rag he wipes away most of the dust and studies its grains as he learned from the Olmanii bowyer this past winter. Getting into his pack he removes another bow string and in a few minutes has it fit and tied. Giving it a good few strong pulls he tests to see if it is still usable.

[So what are these bows made of? How do they look? What kind of quality? He aslo checks out the arrows. He had craft bowyer +2...although I still havn't finished updating my character from the crash.:o ]

Re: Underground, Part IV
Janes and Draxim searched their dusty hideout repeatedly over the two days they had to kill while Madragar was unconscious. They're convinced there's nothing more to know about the place.

Atan finda 48 servicable arrows among all the dry rot and dust. The bows are of very good quality, though short of masterwork. They are made of a composite of wood and bone and are quite strong.

[They're normal composite short bows for all practical purposes.]

Ulwe helps Madragar to his feet and comforts the mage with a few words of encouragement

"You had to try my friend. There is no shame in failure against a guardian so powerful. I am confident you will master it one day, though not soon."

"Finith, what say we assay the secret door at the top of the ramp? Let us go forth now with no further delay whichever direction we do go."

Ulwe sorts his gear out and then stands shield and spear at the ready.

[ooc: Ulwe is ready to move out. BTW who has Silkreik's chain? Is Janes cool with Sangraal taking the ring?]

Re: Underground, Part IV
"There is much to learn from failure," agrees Madragar with a rueful grin to Ulwe. "Luckily for me."

A wan smile and a nod to Draxim does little to reassure the dwarf that the wizard is okay. He does seem capable of getting around on his own, though.

"Yes. The door," he says, echoing Ulwe. "It is time."

Re: Underground, Part IV
As the events transpire before him so fast, he watches Madragar fall, again, then regains conciousness.

Muttering under his breath "Damn magic users and their foolish iders" Pogar moves in to check on Madragar, but see's that he is alright. Holding back his urge to join Draxim in berating the bald Mage, Pogar is concerned though.

Noting that he is ok, Pogar will move off towards the secret door and waits for the rest, swinging his sword back and forth, at the imaginary enemies of his mind, in preperation for battle beyond the door.

Re: Underground, Part IV
"Let's look in this door first," counters Draxim. " It's closer, and I don't think Madragar should climb that long ramp yet after playing tag with them demons."

[ I have also checked this door for traps quite a bit already, and have never heard anything on the other side ]

Re: Underground, Part IV
"Nonesense, Madragar is fine to walk up the ramp. If you have another reason besides the other secret door being closer let's hear it." retorts Ulwe.

With the group again at an empasse, Ulwe looks to Atan to make the quick desicion.

Re: Underground, Part IV
"Th' lad may be fine ta walk himsel, but we're bein here an we aren't the quietest o' folk. If'n we pass this door, and there be somethin behind this door" Pogar points to the first secret door, "an it comes through, we're inna tight spot, agreed?" Pogar says in more of a satement rather than a question.

"Im o the thought that we should see, at least, what be beyond door number one" Pogar says, then adds "But if'n we'r ta move on, then Ima fine wit that."

Re: Underground, Part IV
Janes throws up his hands in disgust when the wizard drops again. He heads over to Draxim and mutters, "Think the daft bastard would learn to play with his toys when we ain't in mortal danger and living on hard tack. Prick. You want to find out if that warm water trick works?"

[ OOC Just to make it clear, this is how I think Janes would react, I can understand the desire to get a little more moxie on our side right now. ]

Re: Underground, Part IV
"What warm water trick?" Draxim mutters out of earshot of the mage.

"Oh that! No then we'd have to smell it for the rest of the trip. And who knows what would happen to those crystals if they get peed on."

Draxim will also wait for Atan's decision but listens at the downstairs door for the 102nd time.

Re: Underground, Part IV
[Just to be clear - Madragar is winded, but he's not unconscious. -And- he's urging the group not to wait.]

"I'll take one of the potions of fly," he says. "And one of the elemental cages. Khelzhad, why don't you take the other elemental cage?" Madragar hands one to Khelzhad.

"Atan, Draxim and Janes should get the other flight potions."

[I'm putting one of each of these, along with two potions of Cure Serious Wounds, on Madragar's sheet. I hope you guys put the others on your sheets!]

Re: Underground, Part IV
Draxim takes the flight potion and it disappears into the folds of his cloak. One of the short composite bows also finds its way onto his back pack.

"I know a guy in Dobrug who'll give me at leas' 50 sovereigns for this baby," he grins with avarice.

[ The System Reference Document lists short composites as worth 75 gp and weigh only 2 lbs. - Almost worth their weight in gold! Stock up now! ]

[ Where did you get the Cure Serious Potions? The 12 we got were Cure Moderates ]

Re: Underground, Part IV
Khelzhad receives the caged crystal and gazes at it in fascination.

"Amazing! I have heard stories of such fire creatures, but bound within a crystal - the Lunars are more skilled than I thought, if this was their work."

Khelzhad carefully positions the cage in his pack and cushions it as best as he can with his bedroll. It won't be a quick access, but he does not want to take the chance of it breaking in his belt pouch should he trip and fall.

[Each cage has a wooden box that appears specifically designed to keep the thing from breaking accidentally. -GM]

[Atan took a potion of flight and 2 cure moderates}
