Re: Underground, Part IV
Draxim wets his dusty blue hanky and squeezes it out, the water falling to the floor as grey as the stone it lands on. He then ties it around his nose and mouth to cut the smell, although one wonders if this will help given the filthiness of the dwarf's well travelled rag. He then proceeds to check the bodies for valuables, wary for traps and poison.
"This looks like whatever got Madragar came this way as well," he whispers anxiously to the group.

Re: Underground, Part IV
The corpses are in the early stages of decomposition and stink mightily. Draxim searches for valuables but Pogar and Khelzhad both mention that duergar patrols rarely carry more than the most necessary equipment.
Draxim finds two heavy crossbows, thirty two bolts, a single greatsword and two functional waterskins. The rest of the duergar equipment is wrecked beyond repair.

Re: Underground, Part IV
From the large chamber which contain the duergar bodies the secret door has the same intricate decorations as the one in the scribe's chamber. The wide stone door is covered with inscriptions and dragonewt iconography. The familiar claw pattern lock is evident but looks completely mundane to anyone that doesn't know its true purpose.
As Khelzhad inspects the door he finds some evidence of steel tools having been used against the wall. It's possible the duergar, being dwarves of a kind, knew of the door's location but could not discover the means to open it.

Re: Underground, Part IV
As Pogar sees the carnage of the vile duergar, a wicked smile crosses his lips. "Ye got whache deserved" he says while kicking a corpse.
Pogar will inspect the duergar to see if he recognizes any markings of the corpses, trying to determine if he recognizes where they are from.

Pogar finds no identifying marks. He doesn't know enough about the duergar to divide them into their constituent tribes.

Re: Underground, Part IV
After looking at the hated duergar, Pogar seeths, "Bah, they'n all look the same ta me".
Wishing one was alive, so that he could lop off its head, Pogar will walk to one of the dead creatures, remove the sword from its sheath and will proceed to take off its head, an action that seems rather sickening.

Re: Underground, Part IV
[ Did Pogar take the greatsword? They are pretty rare you know. If no one else wants it we should take it with us and sell it when we get back to Dobrug. How much did I get for the other one? I forgot. They are listed as 50 gp in the PHB.]

Sangraal manuveres over to the large sword and kicks lightly at the greatsword, balancing it on his foot raises it swiftly to an open hand.
"Pogar!" he calls " Its not an axe but......"
[OOC: The greatsword will do a ton of damage. ]

"Hmmm" Pogar sighs. With his hand scratching at his dirty beard, Pogar pulls out the grinning sword and looks at it and compares it to the great sword.
"Tis a wee thing" he says. Grabbing the great sword from Saangral, Pogar moves over to Janes.
"Here lad, if'n I remember correctly, this'n was ta be yers first off, but somehow it came ta be sleepin in me bag. Me thinks yer gonna have fun wit it."
Pogar hands Janes over the grinning sword as well as his shield, if Janes does not have a shield.
Turning to the rest of the group, Pogar says "Ima be able ta do more damage wit this", with a great sweep of the monstrous sword, its obvious that its been a while since he has used a sword this large. "But Ima be an easier target, unless we're prepared ta use yer magiks on me ta protect me."
[Pogar gives Janes the sword and shield. If Janes has a shield already, then Pogar will strap it to his back.]

Trying his best to keep breakfast down, Khelzhd uses a javelin to turn and poke through the corpses for what looks like might the Duergar leader's body.
"They always have a leader. If we do not find one, we can be certain that there are more of them here wherever the leader is."

Re: Underground, Part IV
"The duergar are not our problem," whispers Madragar. For one of the first times since he has joined the companions, the voice of the tattooed mage cracks with fear.
"Nor is it truly the thing which hunts them. Consider: One of two things is true. Either it was inside the real Druuga, waiting to come out, or (and I consider this to be far more likely), it wore a false Druuga, programmed by its master. Either way, to what end?"
"I surmise that it was to infiltrate a place into which we could go but it could not. Not alone, at any rate. The Gorgon has set this beast to slay those with whom he was dealing, probably in order that he could then seize the Chaos Disks."
"Don't you see? We got 'Druuga' past the Dragonnewt's locks. And if we had tried to kill him, the beast would have killed us all, and at least gotten the Gorgon a lesser prize - my brain, with its supposed secrets accessible after death."
"Therefore, the Gorgon is here. Somewhere very nearby. He would have to be - that beast is a juggernaut, but it is no retriever, unless I very much miss my guess."
"He is here."

Nodding, Pogar looks Madragar dead in the eyes and asks "What'er we ta do now, then?"

Re: Underground, Part IV
Seeing Pogar's rusty chops with the two-hander, Draxim gives him some pointers.
"No lad, stand more to face your enemy with this brute. An' remember it don' take much to move it where it will parry for ya. heh. Course it's best to just get outta the way if ya can, since that leaves ya free to hit 'em back while they're open. Oh, and plan ahead. Even as slow as a battle axe is, this is slower. When it does connect though, ah now there is a joy."
"Course I'm in favor of goin' back down and openin' the other secret door. That way we'll know when we come by it again on the other side."

Re: Underground, Part IV
Despite Madragar's dismissal of the Duergar, Khelzhad continues the grim search for a leader, though it also gives him pleasure to see the blood enemy of his people so soundly beaten. When finished he whispers to the Companions:
"My feet wish to see what is behind the other door below so that we may best know our surroundings, then choose which way to explore. What say ye'all?"

Re: Underground, Part IV
Janes looks gleefully at the sword but eyes the shield with a little less enthusiasm.
[ Janes takes the sword and the shield, but slings the shield over his back to keep it out of the way. It just ain't his kind of thing. ]
edit:
[ Actually leave the shield and his crowbar behind as otherwise he'll be carrying too much stuff and not be so light on his feet ]

Re: Underground, Part IV
Listening intently, to the advice that Draxim gives, Pogar tests out the stance and the advice that was given to him by Draxim.
"Eye, tis differn than the ole battle axe." He says when he first swings. Still getting used to the way the great sword handles, Pogar shifts his stance.
As the familiarity of his basic training in the great sword returns and the muscle memory reacts to the movements and swings Pogar begins to feel more comfortable.
"Makes sense, Lad" Pogar says as Draxim continues to show him a particular stance and swinging motion. After a few swings in the new stance, Pogar feels a lot more confident in the new sword.
When the conversation moves to where they will move to next, Pogar is still in the process of familiarizing himself with the sword, chooses to stay silent. Once he feels comfortable with it, he nods in approval and says "Eye, by me own thinkin, we should be goin ta the first door and check it out."

Atan starts into the room, bow up and moving left to right. He stealthily pads a bee line for the far passageway, stopping at the corner. Peeking his head around he peers down the hall.
Keeping his back against the wall, he watches approvingly as Khel search the corpses for the leader.
[ listen +9, Move Silently +9. He just doesn't use his skills enough. When done and ready to move, he votes for the other secret door as well. ]

være indviet i hemmeligheden!!! ( keep it a secret!)
"Draxim" Sangraal motions to get the dwarfs attention and whispers. " If I heard you correctly about leaving the secret door open I feel I must dissuade you from the course. These doors allow us to move unobserved and in somewhat safety. Make a mark if you wish, something small and inconspicuous. If we meet Druuga or the Gorgon we might need a hasty withdrawl."
Sangraal realizing the importence of these passageways repeats the "key" sequence till he has it memorized.
[OOC: Sangraal thinks its a best idea to leave the secret passage ways a secret only known to us. It will probably save our lives if we have to run and hide.
