Re: long dark tunnel
After moving the mage within the passage...
"We need to scout this tunnel. Although I trust the ancients, we should not abandon caution, and we cannot flee with our burden. Although I am not stealthy I will offer my services, such as they are, in checking for traps and enemies. Let us enter and close the door, then I will go ahead."
[Unless anyone objects to the plan...]Khelzhad removes his packs and shield, crossbow and quiver and unties the 2 javelins he brought with him from the ship. His chainmail and sword will still make some noise, but at least he will not sound like a tinker's caravan.
"Alas! There is the matter of the dark lamps! These are weapons of the enemy - a source of its power - and must be extinguished! Would that our main man Mad of the Thundering Hands could counsel us! Yet I fathom that the deadly lanterns were responsible for the corruption of the Lunar legion and sustaining of their undeath.
True Spear, Dawn Brother - have ye a thought on how we may best leave these noble halls untainted by the vile un-light?"

Re: long dark tunnel
"Thunder hands was able to destroy one of them with his magic missiles . Another was used by the abomination against yours-truly, It was consumed when it's dark force was unleashed upon me. So I am pretty sure they can be destroyed. Yet they are very dangerous. We should only attempt to destroy the lanterns from a safe distance. We have many crossbows and ammunition. Let us attempt it that way."
[ooc: The party should all arm themselves with a legionnaire's crossbow and bolts even if they don't want to keep them and then we all shoot the lanterns from a safe distance (60') until they are all destroyed. ]

Re: long dark tunnel
[The lanterns are a normal size, but are themselves harmless. The necromantic flames in each lantern surround some tiny object and they would be almost impossible to hit with crossbow bolts. Madragar didn't destroy the flame, just the iron cage it was in.]

Re: long dark tunnel
Atan congratulates Sangraal on deciphering the mechanism and eagerly peers into the passage. Looking back at the room, he enlists the aid of Pogar.
"Pogar, let's burn these souless husks so that they may never rise again. I fear that if left here, the faint glow of chaos each corpse contains may yet rekindle in this light." Atan will pile the captain and scribe atop one another in the center of the room and dose them in oil.
"If we want to cover out tracks we should restack the scrolls so that when the door shuts, it is as if we never messed with it. I will take care of sanitizing the rest of the room"
[Once everything is done and Atan has covered tracks the best he can, he will light the pyre {with burning crossbow bolt if the scrolls would prevent a hasty retreat into the secret passage}. wilderness lore +9]

Re: long dark tunnel
Khelzhad begins a slow walk down the tunnel, a javelin in each hand. As the Companion's voices fade, he stops and cocks his ear toward the distance.

Re: long dark tunnel
Ulwe gets anxious with Khelzhad wandering off out of sight. Simultaneously, he is worried seeing the corpse burning detail wander off.
The sea priest tries to head-off the disparate groups before they spilt.
"Friends please!" He pleads to the Khelzhad, Atan and Pogar
"Let us not wander about in small groups or alone. Please let's do one task at a time."
"How can we conceal our passage? Who will stack up the scrolls after we've closed the portal? The Necromantic Lanterns have not raised the legionairres again just yet. We should wait on destroying these coprses.
Let's first secure this passage way. Draxim should go with Khelzhad for Back-up. Pogar should wait here. Once we know what lies ahead we can more safely take care of what lies behind us.
Do not forget the Druuga still lurks about. He very nearly killed Madragar. "

Quote: While everyone is moving about preparing to move inside, Draxim will hand his pack to Pogar and will move about inside the room, searching for any hidden traps or anything bad.
[That's not exactly "taking off" - I took it to mean the immediate area near the door - maybe the first 15 feet or so. How about Drax and Kehz search together?]

Re: long dark tunnel
The corridor is at least sixty feet long and as the dwarves move in, checking for traps and such, they see that it extends more than eighty feet to the west. It is empty, featureless, and doesn't look like it has been used in a very long time.

Re: long dark tunnel
"Forget stacking the scrolls, forget burning the corpses. If Atan has covered our tracks they won't be able to figure out where we went and if they do figure it out they won't have the "key to open it. Not to mention it would be impossible to stack the scrolls with the way the door pivots. Also burning the corpses will do nothing but smoke the place up and block a quick retreat."
Sangraal confers with Atan.
"We've trashed the room, lets hide our tracks and leave it at that."

Re: long dark tunnel
With a nod in the dark, the two dwarves silently agree to continue the passage westward, stopping twice more along the way to listen and check for traps.

Re: long dark tunnel
Khelzhad and Draxim continue to move down the corridor and soon detect an intersection some distance to the west. The passage ends in an alcove about one hundred feet from the secret door and, just prior to the alcove, turns left.

Re: long dark tunnel
[Not that Madragar can see -anything-, but was the secret door difficult to detect from the reverse side?]
[Ahem... care to help move things along by, say, running Draxim? If not you'll have to be satisfied with your role as "Man in coma." -GM]

[Okay. I'll run Draxim. Scott, I'll need at least -some- idea of his abilities and major possessions (that's right - I have no f'in idea what most of your classes are or what any of you carry with you...) I know that D-man has at least some Rogue levels...]

Oh hell in a hand basket
[OOC: Nope, he does not have a light soure, only Khel and Draxim went down the hall and being dwarves they have darkvision, which makes them the best suited to go scouting a little ways.]

[Who took what from the treasure horde? This happened last time!!! ]
Unless someone else takes it, Ulwe put the ring in his pouch as well as the silver flasks and the strange metal frame-wrapped crystals in their box. and the ornate flasks as well.
