Favorite quests, any class
And quest questions again..Out of pure curiousity, I have played nothing but paladin, and have trouble getting interested for other classes. Out of the main pool of quests for all classes, what were your favorites for storyline, fun doing, or simply cool quests out of your opinion?

I am considering playing other classes(once I return to eq), simply for the quests they can do, sadly its mostly at the higher end of the game.

To start for the paladin version of this, my most fun quest I would say is Divine Might, the 49 spell quest, and the Ro Armour, Shawl was acceptable specially for the return, and I was always eyeing the Garzicors Revenge as one quest I want to complete at some time.

What quests were your favorites and with which classes?

Lady Sennyilea,
still retired sadly.

Re: Favorite quests, any class
I would have to say my top three favorite quests were Whistling Fists, Spirit Wracked Cord, and Monk Epic.

I wish they would design Epic V2s. The era when Epic Quests were implemented was one of the funnest eras in the game. They were epic in both reward and quest scale. They were class defining. The new particle effects wers incredible at the time. Other than the hairbrained story line of some, they were really great quests. Most are unrivaled anywhere else in the game to this day. Now many large scale quests since rely on the stupidity of mega time sinks like 250+ tradeskills.

Some of the great things about these quests were:

1. you could complete 95% of the quest either on your own or with a small group. With only a small portion of the quest requiring a large scale (or large scale for the time) raid.

2. Required traveling and becoming familiar with many different zones.

3. Before spoilers were written, it was actualy fun to help solve the quests on class specific boards. (unfortunetely, without spoilers, trial and error, or dumb luck some quests require a spoiler. I don't know anyone that could have followed the ludacris story line and hints given throughout the monk epic quest. However, in the designer's credit the Wistling fist quest which was designed some time later was a shining example of a well written quest)

4. and lastly, I know some will disagree with me on this but I think some of the best quests of the time allowed people without a mega-guild to obtain some of the best gear in the game. The Cord quest is a great example of this. It was possible to complete the entire Cord quest with one group. Everyone from top guild characters (Afterlife on my server) down to joe shmoe (or Sloe Moe) could obtain this gear with enough work. Most of todays quests of this relative quality require elemental access. Which is kind of tough to get to without a fairly powerful guild.

anyway....my two cents.

*prays for (well written) Epic V2 quests in the next expansion*

Re: Favorite quests, any class
My favorite quest, hands down, is that one with Gnasher in Qeynos Hills. It's called 'Gnasher's Head'.

Quote:
This quest starts in Surefall Glade. Talk to Larsk Juton who has some sort of feud with a gnoll named
Gnasher. Basically, he wants you to kill him and bring him his head. When you do this, you'll receive some coin, experience and the Blackburrow Brewers Quest (Surefall).

Sometimes when you kill Gnasher Furrgutt, he is carrying a note from the bartender at Fish's Ale which you can turn in to the authorities. First, give the note to Larsk Juton (the same person you give Gnasher's head to). He will give you some experience and a faction adjustment, and advise you to take the note to Captain Tillin in the Arena in Qeynos (the same one you give Gnoll Fangs to).

Captain Tillin will give you more experience, more faction adjustments, and a Medal of Merit (a Lore Item which gives you +5 Charisma) for your good deeds. He will then summon the Executioner, who will proceed to Fish's Ale to carry out the sentence of death pronounced on the unwise bartender.

Follow the executioner and watch the fun.

This was one of my first quests. It gave me a huge thrill to see that you could do something in the game that effected NPC's like this. I mean, revealing a conspiracy and having the Captain of the city guard listen to what you have to say and summon the Executioner to kill an NPC? Geebus that was just amazing...

Disapointing that there aren't more like it.

I still like the wide ranging scope and collecting for the Burning Rapier.

1. Burning Rapier - When I did this quest, it was a real challenge and I savored every day of it. Still look back on it as my most memorable questing experience.

2. Spirit Wracked Cords - Again, a challenge at the time and an item with some *real* value. Hell, I still wear it.

3. Binden Concerentia - The item is well worth the time and effort and you get to see a lot of places in the process.

4. Coldain Rings - fun, good story, lots to do..

edit: added coldain rings

Greenmist quest for my alt troll sk - had to raise faction just to be able to start it.
Well thought out and not too difficult.

all the coldain rings. great story line and an epic battle to finish it out.

paladin epic. one of the few that if done right will take you from a level 1 paladin starting out to a full journey over the course of growing up though the levels to 55th.

Re: Favorite quests, any class
I enjoyed the Rogue epic immensely. Cool story if you actually take the time to read it instead of skipping around with MQs and whatnot. Makes you feel proud to wield the epic after going through it from start to finish, especially if you hunt down and collect all the individual swords, daggers and robes yourself. I know its been 'gimpified' from the earliest stages of EQ, but still fun nonetheless.

Monk epic was also fun. Like the previous poster said, it also takes advantage of the entire lifespan of the monk to complete -- Starting off with the first Sash quest in Freeport. But I suppose Iksar monks don't have that kindof luxury as they don't get much of a chance for factioning to be able to do the sash/headband quests until their 20's while growing up in the Kunark area. Pretty hard to go exp grind through the preteens over in East Commonlands while dodging the guards and NPCs that path there, all just to get faction...

Ranger epic is kinda unique in a very 'gung-ho treehugger' kinda way. Although the story behind each of the objects in their epic is kinda bland or missing.

everquest.allakhazam.com/...?quest=715

Shakey's Stuffing quest.

Was the quest that has pretty much given me the most excitement ever. As a young halfling I would travel around the world getting the parts and then head down to the Feerott to find the lizard who would bless/curse the hay.

Considering i was such a young level running through these zonew was scarey enough, but on a PVP server running through Darkie (troll & ogre) owned zones was such a rush!

-----------

Finishing the 8th Shawl and being awarded it was pretty great too... I was about number 4 on the server with his, so it was a great showoff item. I got a lot of respect for that.

mage epic
I would have to say the mage epic was the biggest thrill for me just because of the difficulty of the quest and the rush when you do the final turnin to the master of the elements to get your skittles stick.

Other nice quests: shawl and droga.

I also liked doing my newbie mage armor in Neriak.

The first four Qeynos Badges were my favorites. Beating up the guy to get info in the second badge was great!

Re: mage epic
Coldain Ring is easily the best(in my opinion) quest in the game. The story is great and the climax of the quest in Great Divide is second to none, as far as originality in encounters goes. I wish they would implement more quests and events in game, such as this.

Re: mage epic
You know one thing they haven't done that I always thought they should is to continue existing quests. Especially some of the larger ones like the epics, Coldain ring, cord quest, inner sanctum earring etc. This would also help spread out the log jam of uber quests since people that hadn't done the initial quest would have to do them before continuing on. Also it would make it so all of that questing isn't effectively thrown away once you upgrade your item. In effect it would keep the quests up to date with the expansions.

Rogue Epic.

Grandaster assissin seal.
Not sure why, but I have a great time traveling old kunark zones, collecting components. So nostalgic. It didnt take all that long, but I had a blast doing it.

Ended up not doing the entire quest myself, but i loved what i did. Was just different with the small triggered spawns and scripted events you got to go through.

Re: mage epic
i enjoyed the epic, was fun, little on the easy side (did it on a weekend), but still neet story, i like how they added our skills into quest, like sneaking and PP and all that, also remember doing the trueshot longbow quest looooong time ago that was cool tracking peeps down for hand-ins, sham epic was a pain(/mummbles about a cheap golum) but cool
