Rogue Epic- Hands down, the most thought, story wise, went into this quest than any other in the game. Perhaps it is too easy, but the actual story part all made sense.
Guise of the Coercer- An alternate ending to the rogue epic and spot on reward for the diffuculty.
Lifeleech Curse- SK 49 quest spell had a cute story and an interesting ending if you didn't know what was comming.
Honorable mention- The old Electrum Bladed Wakazashi quest, Stein of Magguk, and the old MAge focii quests were all fun old school quests before they decided Frustration = Hard in quests.

Re: Some good ones
I would reiterate some above comments:
The Spirit of Garzicor quest has an amazing story, and the final fight is still relatively unspoiled on boards, making it a challenge for guilds at that level - nothing more fun than going in completely blind.
The Coldain rings are very cool and unique - each is quite different - and even now, not much can compare to the epic scope and heroic feel of this series.
Iksar Shackle series (excluding Whistling Fists) does a great job defining the monk class - you must use all of your skills, gives a GREAT deal of iksar monk caste lore, and can all be done solo at the intended levels, and requires a great deal of travel and exploration.
However, the most fun I have ever had in the game was the weekend the Whistling Fist quest went live. Not much can compare to:
a) zoning into Fear to chat with Cazic Thule because Gandan Tailfist told you to, not because you read it on a messageboard or on Alla's.
b) reading the book Cazic gives you for the first time in Fear, and not on some messageboard. It details how Zan Fi, the first monk, battled Cazic one-on-one, resulting in the formation of iksar monks. I was definitely getting chills reading this.
c) getting an enchanter killed because you were the first person who had the bright idea of handing the flute from your newbie quests to Brother Balatin (also used in Monk Robe quest) and having NO idea a level 61 mob would pop in his place.
The Whistling Fist is one of those rare quests that doesn't need spoilers - the clues are all there(if you pay attention), has amazing lore(if you care), is doable by one group, ties together all the loose ends that have been bugging you for years, AND requires skilled play at class-specific tasks - its the perfect culmination to the Iksar Shackles.

Paw of Opalla and Spirit Wracked Cord.
Re: Favorite quests, any class
Thinking about it.. a lot of my favorite quests were back from the old days when you didn't really have to think about camping anything for them. The rewards sucked, but it was most fun doing them.
Somebody mentionted the Gnashr Furgutt quest.. that was one good one. I spent so much time in Qeynos Hills; Gnashr wasn't a common spawn at all. But I had talked to the quest guy in Surefall and was always on the looked. So the few times I did see Gnashr spawn (especially after the first encounter when he got the better of me) it was a real rush trying to get him. I still remember the first time I saw him... running over that large hill in front of Blackburrow, in the middle of the Norrath night hardly able to see anything with my human sight. When I got Gnashr Furgutt on target I could hardly believe it.
Another good one from Surefall was the quest from Gerael Woodone where he gives you a flask of nitrates to deliver to a farmer in West Karana. The fun part is, there's two different triggered npc's in this even that you have to kill in order to save the good guys! I think the first or even second time i tried both I got killed, or didn't kill fast enough to save the npc's. Even though this quest was broken in the end for so long, and the rewards stink (it used to be rumoured that this was the quest for the Oaken Scimitar!), I had a lot of fun doing it.
Staff of the Wheel
My favorite is the Staff of the Wheel Quest. A wizard staff, the quest involves going around the world gathering 10 staffs that are ground spawns in various places. Was a wonderful quest full of danger and a lot of exploration of places I may have no otherwise have seen.
Still look back at that quest and get a smile on my face : D

Re: Staff of the Wheel
God, Avenger Battle Axe was SOOOOOOO cool.
I had one, I loved it
Killing Slythe and that Dude in Crows!
Also, here is a blast from the past....
What is the name of the paladin quest where you had to find the guy on the shores of Butcherblock and follow around and finally fight some skeleton that popped out of the mud or something in Dagnors?
That was the most amazing quest ever found from the original EQ...iirc
Edit - Found it...and Jiae was an original Fires of Heaven member I believe Enjoy...
Re: quest
My first memorable quest was the Testament of Vanear. Having to go from Kelethin, to Qeynos was a thrill back in '99. A more recent one was the Signet of Grisk from the LoY expansion.

Re: quest
Shaman epic-Great story, huge variety, didn't need raids to get 90% of it done.
Re: quest
Collecting the taxes in Qeynos. LOL I still get a kick out of that halfling...
The Velious one where you go annd poison the dwarf is cool, too.
And the qeynos rogue quest that sends you to HPH was good, iirc.

Whistling Fists!
Whistling Fists was by far the best. This was likely due to doing this quest (a) mostly solo and (b) as a human.
The final double sneak-chat of Cazic Thule alone in Fear after 4 days of hanging out and analyzing pathing was probably the largest adrenelin rush this game has provided since looting my corpse under the feet of Meldrath back in beta (before you could summon corpses). Just writing this is bringing back the memories and sending shivvers along my spine.
On another note, the lamest quest ever....anyone who has done the gnome shipwreck quest will shudder at the mention of Waterlogged Planking.

The first quest I ever did, as a Lvl 4 ranger. It was lots of fun collecting all the stuff, boating around to Sister Island to get kiola nuts, convincing Tumpy to part with some tonic. Falling OFF the boat, swimming until I found a little boat, and riding back across the ocean, seeing Alliwezaur (sp) on some island and scaring the hell outta me, until I finally found a dock. No, you can't zone in a rowboat, lol. Then I had wire, some wood, a cam...woot...turned it all in and got a copper band. Doh!
It was either a level thing or a faction thing.
