Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
[Mon Mar 15 18:44:01 2004] Hamisi Lerato looks despondent. 'I recently managed to escape from the city with my mother, but my sister is still stuck in there. She was too frightened to escape with us and now I fear she may be dead.'
[Mon Mar 15 18:44:23 2004] You say, 'chiaka is alive'
[Mon Mar 15 18:44:23 2004] A look of astonishment flashes across Hamisi's face. 'You've seen my sister? Is she ok? Where is she? Wait, there will be time to talk later. For now, you must return to her immediately. Our mother has been worrying herself to death and has grown very sick. I fear she won't last much longer. Please, take this shawl to my sister. It's our mother's. My sister will recognize it and know what it means. May the ocean speed your journey!
gave Tattered Shawl
[Mon Mar 15 18:59:12 2004] Chiaka Lerato says 'How did you. . . Nevermind. I'd know this shawl anywhere and it can only mean one thing. Mother needs me. I haven't heard from my brother or mother since they escaped and I thought they might be dead. I should have left with them when I had the chance. Fortunately, Hamisi told me of his plans. I should be able to use the same route he did to escape. Here, take this. I won't need it any more.'
[Mon Mar 15 18:59:12 2004] You gain experience!!
Chiaka Lerato proceeded to wander around, made it to Ferubi zone, walked back and forth on the zoneline then walked towards Qinimi zone effectivly getting stuck in the wall, waited about 5 mins and then a raid was called.
The only idea I have is that since she escaped Ikaav would have to use Abena Taifa as the server and the Serving tray handed to Abena Taifa would be the next step, but unable to try. Might be able to do this substep multiple times if Serving Tray was lost on hand ins (Abena Taifa DID return the shawl as I tried to hand it her first without thinking), but unable to check due to raid.
Other then that, it seems another vague step in the quest as what needs to be done next. The end result is in killing Ikaav and the slaves revolting and running to Riwwi. Not sure what forum this was, but someone who killed Ikaav first week triggered the above, but may have been bugged as alot of this quest has been.

Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
For the Barindu section:
1. Get the Yellow Tide Feaster Bile (pita to get), Black Hynid Bile, Vial of Corrosive Slime, and Writhing Mass of Insect Larva, give to Kunimi after you've done the stone ring hand-in (get the stone ring from Proteri Amari--he'll give you a quest dialogue when you hail him if you've got the right faction, flags, etcetera). You get poisoned fruit back.
2. Despite what Kunimi may say, take this to Proteri AMARI. (there used to be a bug in Proteri Amari's dialogue where hailing him would return, 'Proteri Amari Proteri Ashanti says...' Evidentally they changed the name at some point and majorly messed up the dialogue.) He tells you to take the poisoned fruit then to Abena Taifa, I believe.
3. Give the fruit to Abena Taifa. She's in the north end of the room that High Priest is in. The mastruq in the north end of that room will aggro on you when and if you drop invis even if you're tucked into the northeastern-most corner of the room, so be careful. Abena tells you that she's been replaced as servant because Ikaav suspects a plot, and that Chiaka is the servant currently.
4. Give the fruit to Chiaka. Again, the ra'tuks will probably aggro you when you drop invis to do this turn in even if you're just at the end of trading range, so be prepared to deal with that. Chiaka tells you she doesn't want to take the risk of poisoning Ikaav, and respectfully declines, and returns the fruit.
At this point I made an assumption that Abena would probably do it once she realized there was no other choice for her. The first time I handed it to her Ixvet Pox wasn't up, so she handed it back. She gave a message saying to bring it back when Ixvet Pox was up, so I waited until the next day. I spotted Ixvet up, so I handed her the fruit again, and she promptly ate it with no message, no experience, no faction adjustments, nothing. I was pretty pissed. But, later that night I figured out about this:
Talk to Hamisi Leratu in Abysmal Sea, he's in the room with baking merchants on the upper floor. It's Chiaka's brother. Say 'Chiaka is alive.' You get a shawl. Bring it to Chiaka, she gives you a Serving Plate and escapes from the slave camp to find her brother.
Now, with Chiaka gone, as evidenced by your having the Serving Plate, Abena's the only person who can serve Ixvet Pox. I made a wild assumption at this point and handed Abena the Serving Plate (remember, I'd already handed her the fruit earlier). And something happened.
Abena Taifa says 'Just in time! Ixvet is due for his next meal in a few minutes. With Chiaka out of the way, I'll be able to serve him. I hope this poison isn't noticeable. Here, I've managed to secret this away from the guards up until now and I hate to think about those beasts getting their hands on it. Please hold onto it for me. If this goes well, I won't need it anymore.'
Abena gives you, oddly enough, Chiaka's Collar of Liberation, even though Abena gives it to you, and walks to Ikaav Ixvet Pox's room. She walks up to Ixvet Pox, stands there for a few moments, and to my surprise, gets killed. Just dies. Stone dead. She falls to the floor and depops a moment later. From what I can tell Ixvet didn't change at all, but I didn't have a raid force or even a couple groups available to try and kill him at the time.
So, I have this collar now. I have no poisoned fruit, and I have no Serving Platter. I didn't get more info about Talwin out of it, and I didn't receive any stones. I've tried handing Chiaka's necklace to a few NPCs (Proteri is the most notable) and have seen no results.
My thought now is to make more poisoned fruit and bring a raid force with me. Once Abena poisons him, go in and try attacking him and see what happens. Last time I tried killing him, which was a number of patches ago, Talwin's remains weren't lootable even after he died, so maybe poisoning him changes that.
Oh, and about the Stone of Entry -- you HAVE to hold it on your cursor to port in. You can't have it just in inventory, it must be clicked and held there while you say the words.

Quote:I did not get a shard from tipt until I did the final part which required completing sewers and vxed.
I agree with the previous poster.
Some of the text quoted in the other thread, notably for Tipt, was complete, and indicated you got the Dirt-Covered gem shard.
Reread your dialogue, and Vaifan's text does indeed suggests that you are supposed to get a shard at that point. However, since you've already completed the two others, then the quest goes off to a tangent instead of ending just there.
Compare the original ending text of the powerpack turn in:
Quote:There are still some areas left to explore, so when you are ready ake me about the next area you want to look into.
with yours:
Quote:Now that we have all the functioning pieces, we can reassemble the scout. Take these instructions and this power pack adapter and return to either mountain area to assemble the scout.
That quest seems to be quite more complicated than most run-of-the-mill EQ quests. Lots of flag/item checking, flag/location-restricted combines, oh my...

Iustus asked:
Quote:Which shards did you get from these two?
I did not get a shard from tipt until I did the final part which required completing sewers and vxed.
Dusty and Dirt covered is what I got for doing Vexd and Tipt. I'm (now) guessing that once I complete the Sewers combine, I'll get to go assemble the Clockwork Scout in the mountains in order to receive my Muddy shard.
Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
"Anyone know wht charge time on the Stone of Entry for the Qinimi event?
I just got the stone and when I got my group to the platform and said the magic words, it said "the event was in use and that I hsould try again when it has reset."
Any help?"
As lustus said, dont get any mob targeted, and everyone on group must be into pedestal.
Also, you must have the stone on cursor, not bagged.

Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
When hanging in Barindu during beta I caught that zone wide emote:
Quote:As the dying cries of Ikaav Ixvet Pox echo off the city walls, the ranks of the Muramites are thrown into chaos. Seizing the opportunity, the many slaves of Barindu rise up and fight for their freedom.
I don't remember seeing anything particular though... but the idea that they FIGHT for their freedom is somewhat scary...
Btw: about the poisoning of the Ikaav: when the yunjo servant went up to the Ikaav and then died, were you near enough to hear what could have been said by the npcs?

Topofil:
Actually, that may have been important. I was standing in the doorway, but a little bit back so I wouldn't get hosed by the mobs themselves. I did hear one of the Aneuk Controllers ask for the food off the plate though, I'll dig through my journal and try to find an exact quote. I'll be pissed if I missed a key dialogue line because I couldn't get close enough to actually hear...
Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
Got my vial from a slime at zone in in the 'pool' zone. Only seen 1 drop in over 2,000 kills in sewers(not 2,000 slimes, just total kills)
Still trying to get the other 3 zone specific 'tinkering type' drops heh. Wish they would retune these supid rare drop rates.

Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
Aye.
Not much happening right now, I suppose people are really busy camping Fabled items everywhere (some of which are very good, unless you're already full time/elemental geared).
The poison part has been solved, apparently (final report and reward appeared on live on Lucy), but no info posted yet (my ISP is acting up though, I can't access about half the web).
All in all, all 9 steps are solved/near solved. All we have to do is to wait for the first trial to be fixed, and we'll probably have the unlocking of the 10th+ steps soon.

Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
You just hand in platter + fruit to abena then kill the snake and loot report on remains. The remains don't unlock unless you triggered the event with the fruit.
Re: Breakdown in Communication quest - Summary
Only one report per kill I imagine? and event same difficulty as normal, just with the bonus of report (ie, need to talk actual raid force into coming to help, rather than just hitting it with a group) ?
Barindu
I turned in the fruit and the platter killed the snake and the remains remained locked and poofed shortly there after. However, I did kill the aneuk's before turning in the fruit and the platter. Hopefully that doesn't screw me( I wonder if i could turn the collar back in and see if it's like turning in the fruit/platter again. I'll have to check.

Re: Barindu
You need to "kill" it ranthorn. It wont unlock, you need to attack it its like a ldon reward chest ( raid chests). You have to kill them basically.
