SB TL report
With lots of things in the works, I tried to keep it short and sweet. With RA's and styles being reworked and lots of changes to the game in the near future, focus here was to followup/target things that showed the most promise of getting attention based on prior feedback. This is not a verbatim report, but it's very close. This follows the most recent report template by Mythic.

Shadowblade Team Lead Report 03.2004
Overview
The current state of Shadowblades is one of uncertainty. This is primarily due to class mechanics and game shift. The community awaits changes hinted at per the last report, as well as upcoming changes in the RA and Style Review.
Concerns
Two Handed weapons - CS and 2 handed weapon mechanics remain a hot issue. Per last report, this was slated for the style review. I have concerns that this will not be addressed in the style review.
Str/con envenom - no change as of this report, although it has been listed for a change per last report. Looking for an update.
Degradation of Class focus - as more abilities such as prescience node and grapple are introduced, the Shadowblade's role slips more towards a light tank and less of the intended playstyle
Dex weapons - Lack of an option to weapons geared toward our primary attribute results in less weaponskill, widening for low str race choices.
Specline Issues
Speccing LA - per last report, solutions were being considered for the issue with speccing Left Axe. The 100/20 model remains the favored community solution here.
New Issues
The recent co-op/pvp server left axe mechanics change has resulted in a large hit to some SB templates. Request respecs to be given to those affected. When these servers came up, the difference in mechanics was documented, and the recent change is a lowering of power for those previously utilizing the previous "feature."
Item Problems
Axes giving +axe - Especially relevant with ToA items such as sun weapons, many items give +axe, which does nothing for Sword/LA Shadowblades. Would like to see these changed to +melee skills, as this would allow sword and axe users to benefit equally from said item. As CS/LA would not benefit, not aware of any issues this would cause.
Documentation Issues
Herald class documentation indicates Shadowblades "pack a bigger punch than their counterparts". This is misleading to new players.
Frostalf is an available race, although not indicated on the Herald.

I know it's a tiny thing, but considering that the style/RA review is in the pipe it'd be the only chance to do a major overhaul.
Thrown weapons have fallen off the radar -- which I admit is maybe for the best because trying to address it would detract attention from the big issues.
Currently Throwing Knifes for SBs are a bit of a joke, they're too slow to be useful. The deal is, to buy the top-tier Arc throwing knives it is both very expensive and very hard to find a fletcher to do it in the first place.
I've been killed by NS shouts, I've even been killed by Inf Crossbows (while mending in the CY after rez), don't know anyone who hasn't but laughted after getting hit by a Throwing Knife (if it doesn't miss/block/bubbled).
Don't know what the solution is, but it's just another discrepancy -- albeit not a big one.

I'm unclear of this 100/20 LA model you're commenting to. Could you explain that please. Also, i'd like to see a push for the poisioning of weapons interface as it's cumbersome and poisons are overwritten.
I definatly agree... throwing weapons need a major overhaul as well as they are way to slow in getting an in range check and releasing the weapon.
Also i'm not sure if it's a bug or what... but currently you can apply a poison to a throwing weapon and in the delve it will display the poison however they have never ever discharged the poison on the targets. If this were changed to allow them to be poisoned i think the majority of the SB community could overlook the cumbersome use of thrown weapons.

The 100/20 model is a partial solution to the offhand variance issues.
Basically, instead of splitting things evenly, the onhand hits for 100% and the offhand has the rest.
This follows the cd/dw mechanics more closely (ie x% offhand hit chance vs X% offhand damage). Since the offhand does a smaller percentage of the total damage, the secondary hit for low LA variance applies to a smaller portion of the total. As LA spec increases, the penalty decreases, so it's a decent linear bandaid for any LA spec. It would also allow CB type specs to equip a 2nd weapon and not lose damage due to low LA spec.

Call me a noob, but since when have Frostalfar been available for Shadowblades? Did they intend that, or did it slip in under the radar? In beta Shadowblades were never listed as an available class for Frostalfar. Hell, the first mention of it that I saw was in this report- surprised I went to make one and it let me. Wha?

Bog I read on the VN boards that you wern't going to post the TL report and I'm glad you chose to post it here.
As a SB since day one I really wish you'd push the dex weps more (well dex/str) since I chose a kobold and have 350+ dex and only 300 str.
I know that the TL report is a summary of issues and I'm not trying to flame, but I think that would balance the race choices a bit because as it stands it seems that a norse outperforms all other races by a good amount.
Other than that thanks for grunt work on this, I know it dosen't seem like you're getting much done, but Mythic just is not working in your favor and you're trying to climb a HUGE hill (anti assassins AND anti SB).

Now that Cougar has been at Mythic for a few have you two been in contact? I would think having been so closely tied to our community that he would help you (and us) with number crunching. I realize he probably cannot divulge much to you but perhaps he would do us the favor of investigating some issues, namely damage totals and variances.
Our SB community has been seeing some insane damage coming from other assassins (and Necros!!) over the past month and we cannot figure it out. If it was once or only one person it would be one thing but we consistently discuss this in Ventrilo and we are just absolutely baffled. Could it be a combination of artifacts? Could it be the right combination of +CAP items? Is it simply that debuffs are having a larger effect on SBs? We really do not know and we are having trouble trying to figure it out without the proper numbers at our disposal.
Surely Mythic has a better way to determine whether there is an issue here, what the severity is and where it mostly seems to be coming from without us spending our play time collecting log after log only to be ignored by them.
Do you have thoughts on this and whether Cougar might be able to provide some insight?
I remember asking him for a t shirt shortly after he got there. Still checking the mail
If you're seeing insane damage regularly, post a few logs (not test logs, just snippets from normal rvr where you are seeing this) here, and I'll try to emulate it via a test char. The more info you can get me, the better I can test it, and better numbers I have to pass on.

I can provide you with tons of logs Bog. I recnetly had to reformat my HD and lost everything, but i'll be sure to take some logs from my RvR over the next several nights. Here are just the last 2 that I logged... nothing too great but it's a start i'll post more as they're made.

Looks like the biggest hits he smacked you with were for around 220ish. The 340 in the first log is almost certainly a crit, and it looks like it went the full 50%.
I don't know that I would necessarily call that insane damage, but it shows what a high RR nightshade can do with AP, undoubtedly multiple levels of Mastery of Pain, perhaps some crits on enverating, ect.
And I do not recognize the name of the NSs weapon. Could anyone tell us about it?

265,383(a crit i am sure) and 289 damage. Reason? Heat legendary weapon, the slow version. Notice that i didnt even get heat debuffed for that kind of damage to happen. It's that bad.

180-200 damage per hit. Keep in mind that this is using the fast stiletto version of the heat LW, the rapier would produce 20% higher per-hit damage(it is 20% slower), so about 240 non-crit on average.
And again, this is without the heat debuff of the weapon coming into play, imagine what the damage would be if you got 35% heat debuffed!

Scouts on Palo hit us for 985 crit and then using quickshot hit for 500 again and again....
It just seems like something is way off... I mean back when SBs were LA Overpowered I still only hit for 300 combined.... and we got nerfed for it. I now hit for 240 if you count both axes and typically my poison....
I play a ton of hours but you dont see us getting 300k rps in a week. I just hope something balances out here.

Yes, Albs have all three str relics and they have for ...well, months and months now as far as I can remember. If it's THAT much of an advantage then it really makes the game unfun.

I have been noticing some insane damage coming from some Infiltrators of late and it due to legendary fire based weapons. On Galahad almost every Infl is sporting two of these bad boys and even with AP2 and a 26% fire resist I’m still getting hit for 200-300 damage. So the other day I went and got myself a legendary 3.9 speed war adze and sure enough I started hitting for big ass damage. If you happen to run across someone with poor fire resist and the weapon procs its 15% resist decrease you can expect to hit for 75% more damage than your normal weapons including artifacts. Hell the Golden spear only debuffs 8% pierce resistance.
I think in normal RvR legendary weapons don’t amount to much because of resist buffs that the healer classes provide. However, for stealth classes without resistance buffs these weapons are really powerful and you are at a sever disadvantage without one.
FYI.....Adze is a piercing weapon that can be player made, legendary (Fire, Cold ect), or ROG.
