Restarting neverwinter sunday nights
I am thinking of doing this again, because the expansion has opened up a lot of possibilities, and there are a lot of good new modules that look like they are worth trying out. I lost all my ICQ contacts when I built my new computer, so does anyone want to play through a series of multiplayer modules, on Sunday nights?

Last series of modules we played through (the Parthenon) we had five players.

I would like to. I don't have ICQ installed at the moment but I can install it. My number is 1509098, I prefer AIM: KillerBun (short for KillerBunny, when I made it we couldn't have more than 10 letters and Bunn wasn't as good)

Re: Restarting neverwinter sunday nights
I added everyone to my ICQ list. I don't have AIM, my ICQ is 2156590. One of my friends is hoping for a 9 PM PST start time, is that too late?

I'm open to suggestions for modules, but the Shadowlords series seem like they might be worth trying:

nwvault.ign.com/Files/mod...4895.shtml

If we have four players, we should have a tank, a rogue, a healer, and something else (bard, caster, ranged fighter (arcane archer)?), what would you like to play? (Looks like my friend will try to make a rogue/arcane archer BTW but he won't start until next weekend).

Re: Restarting neverwinter sunday nights
I can dedicate about 3-4 hours max at 9pm, if we started a bit earlier more. but work monday comes early for me.

Any of the modules on the top ten list and related ones would be good.

Pool of radience is long, but could spread it out over a few weeks.

Keep on the borderlands and shadowlands are good.

the penulitia series is very good, but the first one is designed to be done solo i believe.

ill go with a monk,or monk hybred for a tank. prefer to go rogue as most of us do i imagine though.

Ok, I think we'll just have a safehouser's only series, and we can have it a time more amenable to other-coasters... it won't have to be Sunday either. We just need one more person to start, and two or three more and we can have a DM. Anyone else interested?

duh!
Looks I need to get an isp again! :) I stopped having an ISP when I moved last Spring.... hehee.

are y'all starting as level 1? or previous characters?

rogue ( 20)
bard ( 16) rogue (3)
Pally ( 5)
Rogue ( 7) Ranger ( 3)

I just rolled a cleric, just playing around. By far though, I like Bard the best if multiplaying.

Re: duh!
I think we're starting as level 1s, and ambitiously hoping to play through a series of 10 modules. If we don't get our 4-6 players by next week, we could always take our official campaign higher level chars through a high level dungeon (and probably get clobbered since we'll all be part rogue).

I'm not sure but I suspect that reviewers are getting more generous on NWVault, not that the modules are getting better. We'll see. I haven't found the player modules expanding the boundaries of the engine like the Bioware ones. The best I've seen have well drawn dungeons spaces and good riddles. But nothing like the scripting for the trial of the two brothers in the OC, or the Library in SoU. Hope our multiplayer sessions provem e wrong.

Level 1s are cool.

let me know. I'd like to be bard or ranger, I figure rogue is taken.

In a pinch , I can do cleric or pally.

I'll check out ISP providers in my area.

I work 11 am Eastern on monday morning, so let me know what time to meet up.

Re: duh!
Ok cool. We don't have any classes assigned yet. I'd be nice to have a bard though.

I'd like to play with a one death per module rule after level 1, so if you die (not due to bad module design) you have to log in as a DM and watch the rest of the way, and then create a new character (1 level lower) the next week. But we need one more player!

one more player...
I can get a family member to join us :) if we need an another person and no one else cares to join.

He had a buddy with a private server & DM, but they play so infrequently and server is closed when DM is off-line, he never did the OC the whole way through.

Re: one more player...
What do you think of this death rule? I'm trying to add some challenge which just wasn't there the last time we played. Here's what I thought up:

At level 3 and higher, if you die, you can't come back unless raised from the dead. You have to watch the game as a DM or an ethereal spirit (should be fun still). If the other players survive the module, they can raise you from the dead at a temple (for 100xlevel gold) but you lose 1 constitution permanently.

Or you can choose to roll a new character who will be put at the minimum level for the scenario for the next session. You can roleplay this by making it a relative of your character, who is following your footsteps or seeking vengence.

We'd play with the bleed script to reduce the number of deaths (although traps and critical hits could kill someone outright).

If everyone is killed in the module then the module series is over, everyone lost. Time for a new series.

I think this will be good because the last series we played there was no chance of death, there was no risk, it got sort of boring, it was more just seeing what the story was. I think there'll be more attachment to characters if they risk permanently death, and it's closer to PnP rules. We will try to have 5 players (when 4 is recommended), and a DM to make sure the scripted battles aren't overpowered (often a problem in the player modules), so the danger from this rule isn't going to be too high but it'll be there.

Loreleli, if Elerion or no one from the safehouse else joins before the weekend, then we could take your family member.

Sounds good to me.

I prefer things to be a challange, and whatever we need to do to make these mods fun/and difficult im game.

as far as party structure goes, ill play whatever like krimzan. going to need some balance though,if were going to go with what you suggest.

re: death
sounds ok to me. I played OC as a rogue class only - no cheats, tweaks or otherwise and survived :eek

I played this expansion without my crystal eatting ring pretty much either, in chap . 1.

I like the RP aspect of it.

Re: one more player...
The first scenario of choice is going to be Shadowlords 1.

You should download the hakpak, and maybe the movie if you want. You won't need a copy of the module but you can download it anyway to be safe. You should roll up a character before we start, so you can join at the designated time (currently sometime Sunday), don't forget to pick a deity (listed in the readme) especially if you're a holy man.

I'll modify the module to utilize the appraise skill, so someone might want to be the dedicated appraiser. (Although it doesn't seem to make much of a difference in price for the merchants, for some reason)

Everyone can play what they want, any class or alignment. It'll be a surprise. 3-5 rogues would be fine, because it's probably the best level 1 class for most of the classes. (We can do on the fly modifying of their characters if everyone has a wisdom of say, 10.)

If party balance is a problem, we can take the fighter henchman offered by the scenario. There's a rogue henchman as well, but I doubt she'll be needed. Clerics and druids aren't necessary at level 1, because healing kits do a better job. We can decide at level 2 if someone needs to start taking levels in fighter, cleric, bard.

I am heading out of town Monday and will return late Sunday, so if I do join in on the action, it would have to be on the third week. So, go ahead and be the lab rats, and based on your all's fun level, I may hop in a bit late :evil
