Sure it does. I gained all my knowledge about Rogues with out asking a single Rogue a question. I did lots and lots of research. I learned on my own. Needing to rely on others, is only a cruch.

Re: What defines a "good" Rogue?
A good rogue will get the PoHate book solo.... and get out solo (WHAT A RUSH)
A good rogue knows how to pull Arch Magi and the General In PoFire without getting killed (although this requires a magician for the 2nd pull)
A good rogue will realize that a dead rogue does 0 DPS and thus balances his Defensive AAs with his Offensive AAs...
A good rogue can anticipate Enrage and turn off attack/turn away from the mob before getting squished like a bug.
A good rogue will recognize a wipe before engaging a mob - thus saving his Escape for the CR when some wizard will wander too close to a mob and argo himself and the rest of the freshly rezed people.
A good rogue thinks before acting.
A good rogue doesnt get charmed by one of the PoFire Phoenix's and wipe out his guild over and over..... /em looks innocent and whistles a little tune
a good rogue reminds the tank to turn the mob so the rogue can backstab... they dont know they are doing it, really
A good rogue knows that a 18+3cold/20 delay dagger is better than a 18/19 in the main hand
remember.. I never said I was a good rogue
It is very easy to play a rogue... but it's very hard to play a rogue well.

hmm
>>Well, I don't believe the cleric said explisitly that a good rogue dosen't get hit.
The cleric said that a good rogue dosen't need HEALS. There's a big diference between the two.<<
Agree. Sometimes I get agro. It happens, and sometimes on purpose. The point is being able to lose agro when the time comes. (the healers I group with most know not to bother healing me unless I'm gettig owned. Otherwise I evade and back off.)
As for the hate thing, I didn't solo mine. I don't think it makes me a bad rogue that I was willing and able to gather people together who also needed epic pieces from Hate and make a party of it. We're not a solo class..it helps to have friends.
If it helps, the raid force didnt actually fight the house book is in, I just sneaked over while group was recovering from fight with Hand and grabbed the book. Was back in time for next fight.
As has already been said...good rogue is just good player, and would probably be good at any class. Know your class, but it's also important to know other classes. Don't just ask questions of other rogues, as questions of other classes, know what they can do, and what they will need from you.
A good rogue also knows when NOT to evade (example: tank is gimp and you know as soon as you evade that mob is gonna beeline for the enchanter. Wait for the tank to build a little hate, then evade)
As for last person dying...We deal enough DPS to get agg in allot of situations if we really want it. Your HP may suck, but it's still probably better to make the mob hate you than your healers. Get it off the clerics ass and it may not end up being a wipe.
Re: hmm
You made me chuckle Derrict... shame, shame!
Good Rogues? I can name three retired Rogues that I cannot begin to hold a candle to. Icons of my server and indeed they all were before ya Derrict, and for all the respect I have I never really knew ya as a player. From there it is all downhill though.
Do I suck? Frankly, no.
Am I a *good* Rogue? Not by equipment, not by participation (anymore) but do I know more of the game than most? Sure, ok and hell, more than ok. Ah, but in my day lad, I set the stars on fire!
Am *I* a good Rogue? Damn skippy. I'm also an exceptional Necromancer, a fine Cleric, a very superior tank and perhaps the best damn Enchanter that ever lived. Oh well, I spend most of my time in EQ as a moderately good Rogue though. I try and keep my character completely seperate (frankly no one knows my alts) and strangely, I still come back to my gimp Rog.
Ah, Celeris, hmm, I think we have met, but I just can't recall your enchanters name. I myself have an enchanter and turned rogue after I joined a new guild.
I agree about the retired rogues, there are some who I will never forget.
Although my rogue is now well-geared, I still feel that I play my enchanter better, but I try and still learn an odd thing now or then.
Re: hmm
I think I play a pretty good rogue and I didn't solo my PoH book either. However I set up the raid and lead it (my first and it was old PoH) and like the other person who posted we were able to get other epic pieces for folks. I think asking questions is a good thing and balancing that with research I believe you can find the answer to anything. This isnt' directed at anyone, but I think people who get uber in this game sometimes lose sight that it is just a game and they forget what it's like to be new. And if they put as much effort into RL as in EQ they might just rule the world.

Re: hmm
a rogue who can come up with a threat so harsh an entire raid of 50+ consents u first time
Re: hmm
A good rogue can solo! Solo something really weak that is but the good rogue will trump it up like he just solo'd a god. The good rogue will use lots of descriptions of how close it was and how much drama there was when him and the rat were both at 10%.

A good rogue friggin disarms all the bloody traps in an LDoN so the casters don't keep getting hit by them.
