We always had bologna in the house, but nobody ever fried it.. not even my dad who eats some nasty stuff.. (like corned beef and cabbage.. for example.)
I also don't think there is a regional dish where I live.. Western Montana.. I would say Rocky Mountain Oysters.. but I'm pretty sure that's a "anywhere there are cows" dish.. and probably just called Rocky Mountain Oysters here..
fellmonger
\Fell"mon`ger\, n. A dealer in fells or sheepskins, who separates the wool from the pelts.
Biscuts and gravy, but its gotta be milk/sausage gravy. Hard to beat that for breakfast.
I feel so dumb, I had no idea that fried bologna was a regional thing heh. Things like cow brains (yuck), mountain oysters (double yuck), and chitlins (holy hell yuck) I can see being regional to the south. Those things are nasty hehe. But fried bologna?
Just curious. For the people that hate bologna. Do you also hate hot dogs? Or is it the situation of someone hating tomatos but loving ketchup hehe.
Re: fried bologna
Fried bologna is a Chicago/midwest thing too, not just southern

My grandma in st.pual used to make me fried bologna. It was really nice to get a friend bologna sammich, then walk down to dairy queen and get an ice cream in the heat of summer =)
Re: fried bologna
Fried bologna is incredible, and if you have some sort of health problem with it, well, take a little look at your own health and get that stick removed from your ass. An occasional fried bologna sandwich will not be killing you anytime soon.

My uncle worked for Best Foods for FORTY YEARS - he wouldn't have worked for them if they didn't make THE best mayonnaise out there. You who buy Kraft Miracle Whip (which incidentally, can be used in place of Pond's Cold Cream) are not supporting the American way of life.
Die you red commie bastards! *stabs repeatedly with a sandwich knife*
Whew. That felt good. Anyone want to mock on my Thomas' English Muffins, or Mazola Corn Oil now?
Now why is it I don't like bologna, but I DO like olive loaf? Why does bologna, by the addition of green salad olives and red pimiento, become edible?

JFG, an NC Company started by James Franklin Goodson, late 1800s. THe two most well known things are their Mayo and Coffee. Very popular in NC and TN, Its more of a regional brand I suppose. (Probably popular in other surrounding states, Don't live there, so I can't tell you for sure.
I think they are owned by the same people who own Luzianne Tea now, but the Mayonaise still tastes the same. Don't really drink coffee that much, so I can't tell you much on that one.

Best regional coffee I've ever had is Community Coffee out of Louisiana. Mmm... don't even need milk & sugar in that stuff.

Mmm, Peanut butter and Banana sandwiches are great. Make it Fried and you have a dish fit for The King (Elvis, for those who don't know the King).
Fried Bologna is nostalgia. Love the stuff.
Sundrop is sold outside the Carolinas, just not many places outside the NC, SC, TN, GA, AL area.
Of course if you bring up Sundrop there has to be someone mention RC Cola and MoonPies too.
