Re: Worker Sledgemallet
The quest gives 8 faction for each 4 braids turned in. If 988 is accurate to Apprehensive then it must have been 638 to Threatening and 788 to Dubious. Which all makes sense if -2100 is as low as faction goes.
Killing a dragon only gives around 20 faction. Usually you can kill sarnaks more than ten times as fast as dragons, so they're a better way to raise faction.
Casting alliance on a charmed mob does no good, the mob remains indifferent.
By the way, sorry to derail this thread, but I'm curious. Why would anyone ever post "Someone has too much time on their hands". I assume the 'someone' means Dubbo, the original poster. It's as pointless as saying 'the sky is blue'. It is, at best, stating the obvious... why post it? Or maybe there's some meaning between-the-lines. Could it possibly mean
A) I'm posting the obvious to raise my post count
B) I'm jealous that you have more time to play EQ than me
C) I'm jealous that you have more patience to do quests than me
D) You shouldn't post useful information like this to help other people, keep it to yourself
E) You spent too much time on this, the hammer isn't worth it
F) You spent too much time on this, counting the braids while turning them in isn't worth it
G) You spent too much time on this, I know a faster way to get the hammer
H) You are a nerd because you count braids, but I'm not a nerd because I post one-liners

Re: Worker Sledgemallet
They were right, I have too much time on my hands. So, now that that's settled:
The reason for the ~approximate counts on the KOS turn-ins, is that I turned in 6 sets (of 4 each) at a time while KOS, in-between /cons. As time-consuming as this all was (not as time-consuming as the estimate someone posted earlier in the thread), I figured it was a waste of time to run completely out of aggro range of everything and drop hide to /con after each and every turn in.
Once I'd reached dubious, I /considered Rottgrime after each set (of 4). They were still sets of 4 braids though - counting by fours. I didn't turn them in one at a time. I figured that neither would anyone else. Anyway, it's just information.
Re: Worker Sledgemallet
How about it means "I see you Dubbo" Nobody told dubbo not to post. They just chatted in a natural voice. This aint work bro. People just chatting in slow mo.
If you were in a chat room and dubbo said "hey I just did a ton of turn ins." And someone replied "man someone has alot of time on their hands =)" Would you question why they bother chatting? Why do it here unless its a blantantly rude post.
Forums are slow motion chat rooms.
You dont need a million dollar reason to make a post.

Aw, heck Qut...that might've explained the national defecit!
Anyhoo, back on track...yes the Undead Foreman MUST be amiable or better for the turn in, otherwise he just eats the jade. Puppet strings get him to amiable, last very short time (lvl 57 at 163 cha and it lasted about 8 seconds). Good thing I'm a rogue...I practice doing things quickly as a part of life.

"As of the same patch that changed the port in point of the hammer, you can no longer charm the guy for the quest. I haven't confirmed personally, but I already have one and several people have verified that it will no longer work."
If this is the case, you won't be getting a Hammer if you worship a "Good" aligned god, since the negative faction modifier for religion is greater than the span from max ally to scowls - meaning you can't ever get non-kos.
Buddy of mine (Erudite Enchanter - Quellious worshiper) was VERY frustrated by this long ago - turned in braids until he no longer recieved a faction increase and was still not aimable even with delf illusion and collaboration.
