Quote:Given that, should i really sweat RB's attack? Unbuffed attack just seems so irrelevant to me cause i'd be moronic to ever fight that way, solo or otherwise.
It isn't moronic because your dps will scale linear as your attack increases until you start to push 1900+ atk. It's just a matter of finding the crossover point where your attack won't offset the ratio. My data is by no means the holy grail but with over 1 gig worth of parses with various weapon and attack setups, I have a decent grasp of atk / ratio / dps gains & losses.
Re: Trueborn, Wicked Shank, and Ragebringer
If you have access to the root cellar, I posted a parse that shows going from a 14-19 +1 humanoid offhand to 18-19 is only a 9.2% dps increase (@ 1561 attack, fero 3, ambidexterity, sinister strike.. +1 humanoid bane works on my parse mob) so going from a 15-25 to 14-19 +1 humanoid @ 15xx atk, I would expect, to be approx 1-1.2% dps increase in pierce but a 3-4% decrease in backstab if you are not at the 250 worn attack cap.
I'll do the GRMK // Ragebringer @ 1561 attack parse tonight before I go to bed.
Re: Trueborn, Wicked Shank, and Ragebringer
Then there's a variable Yalum and my follow-up post is missing then, cause that seemed pretty logical, and going by those estimations, it should be the same.
Summarized from earlier:
>RB adds 54 atk, thus 5.4dps (using 10atk=1%dps assumption)
>offhand is 25% of damage.
>burrower spine is .736 (nonhumanoid) ratio, rb is .6, thus 22.6% better ratio doing the math.
>25% of 22.6% would suggest a 5.65% increase in damage.
So:
5.4%<5.65%
So what variable is missing then? I'm showing even a 14 19 outdoing 15 25 in offhand.
I'm guessing you think the 10atk=1%DPS estimation is low?

Re: Trueborn, Wicked Shank, and Ragebringer
The biggest problem I see is that the 25% damage from offhand number is not exact, and the actual value is guaranteed to be different between the two setups
Re: Trueborn, Wicked Shank, and Ragebringer
It'll vary depending on AAs and the actual offhander but it'll still fall close to within 25%.

Re: Trueborn, Wicked Shank, and Ragebringer
Yes, I hang pretty steady between 27% and 28% with GRMK, 17/20 offhand, and no GoD AAs. Still, that's the biggest deviance I see between the parsed numbers and the theoretical ones.
Re: Trueborn, Wicked Shank, and Ragebringer
Weird, I had some text under the parses but it didn't show up. Anyway, the sweet spot for this setup seems to be around 1450-1460, where the 16-21 offhand ratio outparses the 15-25 ratio. I'll do another over the weekend to compare burrower spine and rage in offhand.
Damage report by YALP using a DPS run interval of 30
Slight edge to spine but the #s are so close it's a toss up. Factoring in normal exp groups won't always be fighting humanoid mobs, the spine's dps would drop slightly.
For GRMK / Spine, pierce damage accounted for 58.02% of total damage, backstab 37.58%.
For GRMK / Rage, pierce accounted for 55.72%, backstab 39.70%.
GRMK / Spine saw a 4.12% increase in pierce damage, 2.12% decrease in backstab damage, close to what I predicted.
So basically if you can stay 1450+ attack with buffs and have access to a 36+ haste item, bag epic for a 16-21 ratio or better offhand weapon.
