*Adam walks out into the arena*
"I thought this was a New York Mets game...?" *Looks at the kid holding the Daito ain the middle of the arena* "Well, this looks interesting" *Takes a 14th century English articulated broad sword out of his coat* "Well, It's not like I have anything better to do."

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; "Hi, I am Ephel Pyocola Analogue. And that's an interesting way to hide a broadsword." He draws the wakizashi and katana in his left and right hands respectively. The wakizashi is held forward, blade pointing down, elbow bent slightly and the point sloping lightly upward, pointed at Adam's face across the distance between them. The katana is in his right, held overhead with the blade to the sky, the curve of the blade ending parallel to the ground at its tip over Ephel's left shoulder. Ephel grips the swords, firmly with his bottom two fingers and loosely with his index finger and thumb. The arena is completely empty and level and the light comes from an overhead light panel, eliminating any geographic advantages. ooc: i put a lot of detail in swordfighting ^_^ only way to make it reasonable. this is exactly how the world wide web works: the html files are the pithy description on the paper tape, and your web browser is ronald reagan. |

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; note: there's a reason there's no such thing as a reverse karatake stroke, there's not a whole lotta power in it because you have to work against gravity the whole time and you don't have decent room to swing and build up force. it's also a somewhat awkward hand position as an opening headlong attack. and it forces you a little closer to your opponent than would be desirable considering that the wakizashi is held out in a somewhat defensive shinken posture, an advance would bring it to your face, which would be dangerous even if you dodged it because the blade would be reaching into your blind spot and you would be in a position of lesser natural height, a great advantage for me as it's an ideal kicking situation. or the shorter wakizashi could easily knock down the broadsword if it strikes the tip, nevermind the greater weight of the broadsword working against gravity. an advance could trap the blade on the ground and allow for a swordbreaking move now that your wrist pivot is useless. and i somewhat resent your assuming my moves for me, which is why i'm typing up this long step-by-step annihilation of your moves. you really need to add more detail to your posts. it'd be really useful to know how firmly you hold your sword. moving on the second step. the position of the katana lends itself more to a more lateral strike, perhaps slightly angled downward. that would not normally be able to be blockable following a straight-forward rising stroke. furthermore, a wakizashi strike would not be the best move in this case as the katana swing would rotate my left shoulder back. it would be advantageous in a defensive situation, even moreso with the wakizashi's shorter length and smaller blind spots. ideally, the wakizashi could be used to block a counter-attack, then give way slightly as the shoulder turns back, and the attacker shifts to force you off balance to follow me. or your alternative would be to break away and we could resume another exchange. stepping back puts you in ideal katana range tho, right at the edge of its range which would allow the strongest and widest attacks. or moving in closer would put you in at a disadvantage because of the lighter and shorter wakizashi's superiority in the third defensive sphere over your broadsword. staying in place would leave one open to the katana stroke. but technicality aside, sidestepping the wakizashi then charging me was a good idea. it's typical to exhale when sidestepping to present a smaller target. sometimes that hair's breadth makes all the difference. then it sets up nicely for the necessary inhalation needed for a strong body charge. so that's a very nice move. technicality aside of course. i would correct you, but you left an ideal situation open, prolly an oversight. but you didn't describe which direction you were slashing so i'll assume the strongest stroke, from left to right. the fatal flaw is that you yourself described the sword as a quarter inch or so from my chest. meaning that it missed. a broadsword is certainly not a light weapon. and a strong stroke could never be reversed quickly. certainly not enough considering this opening you've left me, where i have just recovered but you have just expended yourself. by elbowing me in the chest, that indicates that my arms are both at to my sides and not cluttered near my body. The broadsword barely misses Ephel, recovering himself on his right leg. Springing forward on his bent leg (right), Ephel thrusts his katana into the soft flesh of Adam's open left shoulder, piercing through out behind his back. Quickly withdrawing his blade from between the bones and severed tendons, Ephel sidesteps to his left, close enough to brush against Adam's body and using himself to trap Adam's sword arm. As he removes his katana from Adam, Ephel pivots and slashes the entire 45cm lenght of his wakizashi along Adam's ribs. note: thrusting strokes, such as the tuski, are the swiftest as they pierce the shortest range. all thrusting attacks are killing techniques, just a note for pacifists because they will undoubtedly be quite unskilled at thrusting. usually anyway ^_^ a full stroke with a blade is very very deadly, liable to cleave a person in half if the blade and swordsman are any good. i leave the damage for you to decide, but i really can't see how you can get out. short of falling on your back at least. even then, at that range, it would graze your chest at the very least. even a shallow blow to the ribs would adversely impact your fighting ability, as it would make breathing painful. once you lose your ability to breathe properly, it limits the rhythm of your moves and makes it highly predictable, limits your speed and stamina. a broadsword is also a mighty difficult weapon to wield one handed. the underam and ribs are also of the body's nine primary critical points. please be reasonable about the damage ^_^ doumo ^_^ i want to be the wind. to drive away the clouds. to bring peace and still heavy hearts. to race across the corners of the world. to raise dust to blot out the sun. to chill their souls and drive them to shelter behind stone walls. to soar unrestricted over all. i want to carry people to unimaginable heights with their wings. i want to crush them into the earth and drive them deeper until they are swallowed and mingle with the warm red dust. i want absolute freedom never to be captured or held down. except by the thin confines of the sky by the nihlist vacuum. |

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; ooh, knight templars were kewl ^_^ altho i never liked their religiousiness. 38 inches is over 3 shaku! dats a good 8 inches longer than my katana... no wonder it weights 5 lbs... i want to be the wind. to drive away the clouds. to bring peace and still heavy hearts. to race across the corners of the world. to raise dust to blot out the sun. to chill their souls and drive them to shelter behind stone walls. to soar unrestricted over all. i want to carry people to unimaginable heights with their wings. i want to crush them into the earth and drive them deeper until they are swallowed and mingle with the warm red dust. i want absolute freedom never to be captured or held down. except by the thin confines of the sky by the nihlist vacuum. |

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; ooc: I'm sorry about this but I planed this out since I accepted the challange... bic: *Unknowing to Ephel, I cannot be killed by such means. While still laying on the ground I slowly reach for my Templer sword which is laying on the ground only a few inches from my body, with a violent upheavel in an isntant rise from the ground clenching my blade tightly, and unknoging to my foe at the moment drive the sword from the point all the way to the hilt through him, at the point on the chest halfway between the collerbone and the the bottom of the ribs dirrectly through the abdomen and more than 16 inches prtrudeing through his back, I whisper in his ear.* "Just because I don't like to fight, dosen't mean I can't..." *I quickly turn around so my back is faceing him, wrench the sword breaking a few ribs in the process, removeing the sword, and then spining 270 degrees around, while making the articulet blow that removes his head from his body* ooc: I'm really sorry, but you should of read my character profile before taking steps.

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; note: i know i didn't check your character profile ^_^ but that'd be a little unrealistic to know that much about a person i've never met before. actually, i'm really thankful now that i hadn't moved ephel at all after that post. he prolly would've died if he had turned his back to him, or if he hadn't been virtually right on top of him. When Adam gripped the handle of his sword, Ephel's peripheral vision caught the slight change in the way the light reflected off the metal. Stepping forward instinctively onto Adam's arm, Ephel brings his katana down onto his pinned wrist, detaching it from Adam's arm, then jumping quickly twice backwards putting 3 meters between them. i want to be the wind. to drive away the clouds. to bring peace and still heavy hearts. to race across the corners of the world. to raise dust to blot out the sun. to chill their souls and drive them to shelter behind stone walls. to soar unrestricted over all. i want to carry people to unimaginable heights with their wings. i want to crush them into the earth and drive them deeper until they are swallowed and mingle with the warm red dust. i want absolute freedom never to be captured or held down. except by the thin confines of the sky by the nihlist vacuum. |

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; ooc: If you are woundering, I am an Immortal, and even if you did deattach my arm, I can regenerate it with easein mere seconds, and also even if I did not strike your head off, you have critical damage to your spleen, lungs and major soft tissue damage, also with 2 broken ribs (on both sides) and perhaps even damage to your vertibrets and or the discs, you are in no shape to continue the fight, also you do not appear to have any special regenrative abilities, because they were not posted in your character profile, or were not stated at the begining of the match.

Re: i'm so happi i discovered this place ^^;;;; sneaky ^_^;; erm... well i figured that detaching your wrist would prolly have prevented your attack from ever happening. besides, a few seconds is more than enough for ephel to jump away for another exchange. and i haven't watched any of the highlander series in a long while, altho i dun recall any regenerating powers then either, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt. if i remember correctly, i just need to decapitate you... so if you want to go again, then we'll start again, basically a second face off. if you insist on your surprising me, even though ephel hadn't moved away or turned his back or lessened his guard, then i dun feel like having this irritating kind of argument and i'll forfeit. i want to be the wind. to drive away the clouds. to bring peace and still heavy hearts. to race across the corners of the world. to raise dust to blot out the sun. to chill their souls and drive them to shelter behind stone walls. to soar unrestricted over all. i want to carry people to unimaginable heights with their wings. i want to crush them into the earth and drive them deeper until they are swallowed and mingle with the warm red dust. i want absolute freedom never to be captured or held down. except by the thin confines of the sky by the nihlist vacuum. |
