monk shapeshift question
Ok my toon is 4 monk/6druid/11 shifter atm.
I took heavy armor feat so I can get high AC since my armor shifts with the form. Now using armor disables monk "abilities". I still get the attack bonus and can use the monk feats while shifted.
Should I be worried about losing this or it doesn't matter since I am shifted in another form? Now there are unarmed forms....?
As i understand it,the various forms all use different "monster" type weapons. In most cases this means, that even if you have a weapon equipped,it doesnt really work. your weapon is default creature attack or whatever.
I do know, that playing a shifter requires alot of experimentation. If i remember right, armor retains the bonus while shifted, but weapons dont. This means a monk unarmed is pretty decent. but a level 4 monk wont really give you a large bonus.
You should check out the official forums, and search there. Theres alot of shifter info on that forum.
Re: monk shapeshift question
You spend all your time shifted, so I wouldn't worry about losing the monk bonus's when in your normal form.
You really want to take another level of monk... i.e. monk5-druid6-shifter+. When shifted... you have a problem; you are no longer human, and you lose your human 'any class is preferred' benefit. Most polymorphed have 'monster' as preferred class... so a monk4-druid6 is a 20% exp hit.
Re: monk shapeshift question
I read somewhere there there is a exp penatly if your classes are not a multiple of 4?
Dragon disciple is way to boring, and I can become a dragon later anyway. Fun>Power. I have 18 shapes and still gettting more, the class is to much fun.
Honestly I am leveling to easy, the exp hit is not noticable in HoTU.

If you have two 'normal' classes that are more than 1 level apart you take a 20% penalty on exp.
Prestige classes and your racially preferred class don't count.
A druid 6, war 4 would normally take a 20% penalty on exp. If you are in human form, humans have a racial advantage of their highest level class being favored... so no penalty. Shape-shifted, you aren't in human form... and don't have a racially favored class.

Re: monk shapeshift question
I started a new HotU game and munchkin'd up a shifter (druid till 5, then shifter till 10).
Shifter really seems to NEED having some fighter class levels as a base, so that you can get combat orientated feats to go with the melee forms (since feats carry over it seems).
Also, apparently every early NPC but merchants are permenently enchanted with true seeing. I was very disapointed when I took my mindflayer form'd shifter downstairs in the initial inn, and no-one even looked at me funny.
